Carnevale in Mamoiada (February 15 and 17, 2026) immerses you in the rich culture of Sardinia’s festivities. The decorated streets of this ancient village come alive with haunting rhythms of cowbells, hypnotic movements of dancers, and tradition preserved through centuries: it’s a celebration of history, mythology and community.

You will watch the Mamuthones, cloaked in black sheepskins with grotesque wooden masks, moving in slow, ritualistic dances. Meanwhile, the Issohadores, with vibrant red shirts and white masks, wield lassos to capture the dancers (and spectators!).

Your day includes exploring the local museum to uncover the origins and craftsmanship of these iconic masks, savoring a Sardinian lunch featuring local delicacies, and and gaining exclusive access to the courtyard where Carnevale characters don their costumes and cowbells before joining the parade.

A special tour to see how Seville artisans use centuries-old techniques and lifelong expertise to produce exquisite pieces for religious events and rituals. 

Act 1: Bordado (Embroidery): Visit the workshop of a renowned artisan to witness the meticulous restoration of ceremonial vestments and regalia for processions of the Catholic fraternities in southern Spain, mainly centred around Semana Santa (Holy Week).

Act 2: Orfebrería (Silversmithing and Goldsmithing): You’ll meet a highly skilled orfebrero (silversmith) and learn about the various stages in creating elaborate embossed silver pieces such as candlesticks and decorative panels for pasos (floats) which carry the religious statues in the Semana Santa processions, all chiseled by hand.

Mexico

Likely meaning “place of coyotes,” Coyoacán was originally a village founded by the Tepanec people in pre-Columbian times. In 1521, it became the first capital of ‘New Spain’ and remained a settlement distinct from Mexico City until the 1850s. Now located in the south of Mexico City (CDMX), Coyoacán is perhaps best known today for being the home of the Frida Kahlo Museum and the impressive colonial-era architecture.

Practiced for centuries to adorn manuscripts, calligraphy, and religious texts, Tezhip is known for its intricate floral and geometric motifs. In this session, held at a private studio in the Fatih District, you’ll learn the core techniques that define this delicate art form.

Guided by Şeyma Çınar, a master artist with over 25 years of experience, you will gain insight into the historical significance of Tezhip before creating your own illuminated piece. This version of the workshop focuses on classical techniques, allowing you to appreciate the elegance of Tezhip in its purest form. Turkish tea and snacks accompany the experience, offering a warm and engaging environment.

The host, Şeyma, is a seasoned artist specializing in Tezhip, miniature art, and floral designs since 1998. With formal certification from Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and years of teaching experience, Şeyma has a profound understanding of the history and intricacies of traditional Turkish illumination. Having participated in multiple exhibitions and published work on Islamic art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient craft. She will be accompanied by a translator, allowing everyone to fully engage with her insights and expertise.

While you’re in Rome, this immersive masterclass offers the perfect chance to discover the wines of its surrounding countryside—Lazio, a region often overlooked yet rich in character and complexity. Held at Maurizio’s wine club in the city, the two-hour session is guided by sommeliers Maurizio and Frank, whose work with small producers has helped bring Lazio’s native wines to light.

The baby-whale season is from January until the end of April.

But the Pacific coast is not only known for whales. It's just as beautiful to watch sea turtles hatch. If you come at the right time, you can witness mother turtles laying hundreds of eggs overnight in the soft sand on the coast, and much later, those hundreds of babies hatch and crawl toward the sea.
