What is this?
This 4-hour private art experience in Buenos Aires explores modern and contemporary art in one of the most beguiling cities in the world at the side of a museum curator and art expert. You will learn about the development of Argentine art while strolling through the beautiful neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and visiting a curated selection of five museums and commercial galleries. Buenos Aires has an utterly dynamic art scene—perhaps the strongest in Latin America—where creative hubs that blend historic influence and contemporary experimentation. These spaces showcase local and regional artists, juxtaposed alongside global names.
Drawing upon Jonathan's extensive background and expertise in the art field, you will follow in the footsteps of revolutionary artists and practitioners. Your charismatic, highly-connected curator guide will share insights into past artistic traditions and the diversity of current programs and proposals.
What makes this unique?
This experience welcomes you into the fold of the South American art scene and illustrates how art, literature, politics, and social reality are interconnected in Argentina. Besides the Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) and the Museum of Latin American Art (MALBA), you will explore independent galleries in Recoleta, Palermo, and/or Villa Crespo. Many independent galleries in Buenos Aires emerged during economic crises, thus fostering a uniquely resilient and community-driven art scene which Jonathan will dig into. He tailors each visit to your interests, adjusting the pace and route if needed to create a personal, meaningful, and engaging experience.
There will also be a coffee stop between visits to relax and reflect on the artworks seen. This is an excellent opportunity to exchange views with Jonathan. Learning from a seasoned professional with contacts in most museums and galleries in Buenos Aires adds value to the experience, as it ensures updated knowledge and exclusive access.
