The journey begins in the Old Town of Requena. You walk through its medieval streets, where stone façades, narrow lanes, and fortified remnants reflect the town’s strategic past.

From there, you descend into the Cuevas de la Villa — an underground network of caves long used for wine storage and production. Carved beneath the historic quarter, these chambers were shaped by necessity: stable temperature, darkness, and time. Requena’s caves were working infrastructure. For centuries, families carved and used these subterranean spaces to store and age wine, integrating production directly into urban life. From Requena, you continue to the village of Los Pedrones. Here, you meet Alberto, a grower dedicated to recovering abandoned old vineyards and working with native varieties rooted in this landscape. You walk through the vines together, observing the landscape and listening to Alberto. The visit concludes with a guided tasting of his wines, paired with local “Km 0” products that reflect the agricultural character of the region.

Visiting Los Pedrones and meeting Alberto adds a personal, human dimension, offering direct access to a passionate winemaker dedicated to reviving old vineyards and preserving local heritage. Conceived in 1972 and stretching for nearly a kilometer, this massive complex—locally known as Il Serpentone (“the big snake”)—was inspired by Brutalist and Rationalist architecture and designed to house 8,500 people.

Walking through Corviale today means entering the layered story of a city that, in the 1970s, faced deep social inequality—when a third of its population still lived in shack settlements. This experience unfolds as a moving urban workshop: you’ll explore the hopes and failures that shaped this space, from its utopian promise of public housing to the long years of abandonment, marginalization, and stigma.

As the district undergoes a slow and ongoing transformation, this walk invites you to question what renewal really means, and how architecture, policy, and community intersect in the making—and remaking—of a city.

This experience offers a rare chance to explore Corviale with a sociologist who has spent years studying the urban stereotypes often attached to Rome’s outskirts. Peru

This archaeologist-led experience takes you to two of Cusco’s most prominent sacred sites: Convent of Santa Catalina and Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun). Together, they help you see how Indigenous beliefs shaped Cusco’s spiritual landscape before colonization.

As you’ll learn, the area now occupied by Santa Catalina was once an acllawasi, “House of the Chosen Women.” This Inca institution housed women selected for their lineage and skills in ritual crafts such as weaving and ceremonial food preparation. It functioned as a communal and spiritual center, supporting practices tied to agriculture, astronomy, and the worship of the Sun.

Built in the 15th century, Qoricancha was the most important religious site in the Inca Empire. Dedicated to Inti, the sun god, its finely fitted stone walls were once sheathed with gold and silver plates. Delsi connects the dots between these two sites—one tied to a sacred institution, the other to state cosmology—and what they reveal about Cusco’s legacy.

Visiting Santa Catalina and Qoricancha with a local archaeologist offers a way to dig below the surface of Cusco’s sacred history through material evidence. Delsi brings depth to what these sites still hold: how the acllawasi functioned within Inca society and how its footprint survives within a later convent complex. At Qoricancha, you see the meeting point between Inca religious architecture and colonial rebuilding: precision of Inca masonry, logic of the original sacred enclosure, and how later structures were placed directly onto that base.

The broader historical context helps you understand how these sites fit into the larger narrative of Cusco and the Inca Empire, fostering awareness of the city’s layered history and the challenges of cultural heritage preservation. Delsi Espinoza is a local, fully licensed archaeologist from San Sebastian in Cusco. She has more than 15 years of experience working in the Cusco region on various official projects in a variety of locations. She has worked directly with the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, international organizations, local municipalities, and national parks, including Machu Picchu, Saqsaywaman, Pikillaqta, and Urubamba, amongst others. She has led excavation projects, maintenance programs, and education initiatives in the region since graduating as an archaeologist from the Universidad San Antonio Abad Cusco in 2014.

The city of Iwatsuki, just outside of Tokyo, is one of Japan's major centers for Ningyo doll production. Much more than simple toys, the dolls are celebrated as works of arts created by master artisans preserving an important aspect of Japanese heritage. Your guide, Hiro, will introduce you to the world of Japanese dolls starting with a curated tour of a doll museum, where he will explain the history of ningyo dolls and their production process. 

After the museum, you'll enjoy lunch at a long-established restaurant with a vast doll collection heading to a master’s workshop, where you will learn the traditional technique of "kimekomi," pressing fabric into grooves carved in the doll's body to create clothing. Your teacher is a master artisan who has been maintaining the craft as part of many generations of craftspeople in Iwatsuki. Take your work home with you as a special souvenir.

Finally, you'll visit a local doll shop for more up-close viewing and shopping for ningyo dolls.

This full day experience gives you a rare opportunity to be immersed in the world of Japanese dolls, learning how they are made and getting a chance to participate in the process, and viewing works of art in a museum. The three-hour workshop led by a master artisan is not a rushed, assembly line experience, but a naturally paced opportunity to appreciate the skills required to manufacture these dolls and chat with the artisan about their work.

While many centers of traditional crafts are located far from Tokyo in difficult-to-reach locations, Iwatsuki is conveniently accessible by train in Saitama Prefecture, just an hour from central Tokyo, making it a perfect way to spend a day experiencing a unique aspect of Japanese culture.

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL, MATE, MILONGA | Arrive early or the day before so the city can settle around you. After a short pause, the evening unfolds inside a real milonga with a professional dancer who explains the codes and ronda. You may join a dance or simply observe with a glass of wine.
DAY 2 – PALERMO AND CORRIENTES | Late morning brings a guided food walk in Palermo Soho that moves between bakeries, markets, and grills for classics like empanadas, choripán, and steak cuts, paced like a seven-course meal. Rest in the afternoon or wander the plazas. In the evening, a guided walk along Avenida Corrientes ties together theaters, beloved bookstores, and café culture, with simple tastings that carry the street’s late-night spirit.
DAY 3 – BELLE ÉPOQUE AND EMPANADAS | Begin with a guided architecture walk that links Belle Époque façades on Avenida de Mayo, the symbolism of Palacio Barolo, and a pause in a period café before finishing near Teatro Colón. It is history told in stone and light. Later, join a hands-on empanada class in a local home, rolling and folding before sharing wine and dessert.

Continue to a high-altitude estancia for an open-fire asado paired with wines and stories about the ritual’s meaning. DAY 7 – ARTISANS OF MENDOZA | Spend the morning on a guided visit focused on handmade work at Mendoza’s artisan market, meeting makers of gaucho leather, textiles, and fine crafts. Chile’s Tara Salt Flats (Salar de Tara), located in the Atacama Desert, is a breathtaking, otherworldly landscape of vast white salt plains, towering rock formations, and flamingo-filled lagoons. Situated at an altitude of over 4,300 meters (14,100 feet), this remote destination offers breathtaking panoramic views, making it a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. The Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts in located inside the ancient Fes Medina and is renowned for its comprehensive display of woodcraft but also for its unique architectural features that make a visit here a memorable experience. Why visit?

Kadıköy Neighborhood

Since I knew that I was gonna travel to Argentina I wanted to visit La Boca. It is a little neighborhood where you can find some of the most famous landscapes of Buenos Aires. 

At the time I arrive, via bus or “bondi”, as it is said there, it was full of people; eating, buying souvenirs, taking photos, etc.

I loved this experience so much that I don’t want to spoil anything to you, just take the chance and visit that amazing place!

Each year, over 2 million wildebeest, zebras and antelope migrate from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Maasai Mara in Kenya in search of water and fresh grazing . Experiencing this during July-October is an absolute spectacle.

The Mara Triangle is particularly great for watching river crossings in August and September - perilous for the animals as the river is packed with wily Nile crocodiles.

We stay with this herd of zebras for 3 days - waiting for them to decide to cross. It’s a matter of life and death for them - so they are understandably cautious  The zebra get to the banks more than 20 times, giving up at the very last minute, often spooked by a territorial hippo or a sneaky crocodile.

Finally, a brave zebra leaps forward into the water. And a second one follows fast. Suddenly it’s mayhem with hundreds of zebras and wildebeest splashing into the river.
