This six-hour tour moves through Kyoto’s eastern districts, connecting a series of temples, streets, and spaces that reflect the city’s changing aesthetics and philosophies. This workshop offers a first-hand experience of all the steps involved in the creation of the emblematic tapas of Spain. You’ll see the journey of creating a selection of tapas from market to the table. You will prepare the tapas under the guidance of the chef, who will explain the geographical origin of each dish, and share interesting facts and creative possibilities for their preparation. The hands-on experience is a crucial element. Following the preparation, there's the joy of tasting the creations, paired with traditional Spanish wines. This is an uncommon dawn capsule in Xochimilco — paddle-driven and nature-focused — you’re back in the city before the canals get busy. Private pickup from your accommodation in Mexico City gets you to the World Heritage wetlands in time for sunrise. 

You board a cayuco — a native, paddle-driven canoe — for a two-hour canoeing adventure through ancestral canals and the man-made farm islands known as chinampas, in use for over a thousand years. While crossing the city center, the narrative spans the late seventeenth to the nineteenth century, when the city armed 508 expeditions linked to about 150,000 Africans deported to the Americas. Facades, street names and public art expose merchants, shipowners, and fortunes amassed through the exploitation of enslaved people.

But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. Lion of Bavaria Monument

Barcelona, Spain, is home to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), a spectacular museum showcasing one of the most comprehensive collections of Catalan art in the world. Located inside the grand Palau Nacional on Montjuïc Hill, the museum offers a journey through a thousand years of art, from Romanesque frescoes to Modernist masterpieces. Faroe Islands

Getting there on a little ferry tossed around on the surging Atlantic Ocean needs courage. As the boat uses all her resources to maneuver into a tight, rocky harbor, I wonder if the captain, who does this twice a day, is either extremely brave or completely suicidal. We step on to what looks like the sets of a Disney fantasy movie. Twenty colorful grass-roofed homes, one little schoolhouse - which has one child - and a bridge over the Atlantic.

I meet my guide Harald - a septuagenarian with poise to rival the curious sheep we see hanging precariously over the cliffs. Harald leads our little group on a 4-hour hike across the island to the lighthouse at the westernmost point of the Faroes.

Birds are everywhere - puffins, fulmars, kittiwakes, gannets - on the green hills, riding the ocean waves, occupying every inch of cliff space, filling the air with their calls, and circling the sky.
