The Grand Elegance of Jerez

This experience accommodates a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people to manage base costs and logistics. This is a 4.5-hour walking tour that showcases Milan's enduring artistic heritage. This is a moderate 5.5-hour guided trek through diverse landscapes of Ouirgane Valley in the Atlas Mountains. Starting from the village of Marigha,, the trail ascends through terraced farmlands and pine forests to the village of Anraz. Here, you'll visit a modest yet historically significant Jewish synagogue, one of the few remaining in the region, reflecting the area's rich Jewish-Berber heritage. The journey continues through the serene village of Torort, offering insights into traditional Berber life and a glimpse into the villagers’ daily routine.

As you set sail from Burano, let the peaceful canals of the island of Torcello take your breath away. Then, delve into the lagoon's tranquil sandbanks, where Andrea will unveil the secrets of the lagoon's diverse bird species, and the aromatic plants that have been used in Venetian cuisine for centuries and are still employed by contemporary Venetian chefs to create unique dishes and liqueurs.  You will have plenty of opportunities for photos and foraging. At the end of the tour, Andrea will drop you off near the Burano traghetto stop. With origins dating back to the ancient Elymians, it later became a significant site during the Norman period. This castle also offers breathtaking views of the Sicilian landscape.

Erice Castle is accessible via a scenic cable car ride from Trapani or by road. The site is open to visitors throughout the year, with an entrance fee. It's recommended to check the opening hours before visiting as they can vary seasonally. As you make your way up the incline to the castle, be sure to stop at Gelateria Liparoti for a gelato! It with give you a boost of energy for the rest of your stay of sightseeing.

Misty Erice Castle

You can't spend holidays in Barcelona without also visiting the Sagrada Familia. It's probably the city's biggest attraction – and for a good reason. 

La Sagrada, a Roman Catholic church, dates back to the 19th century but is still under construction (some expect it to be finished by 2026, but in my view, 2030 is a safer bet). We opted for a walking tour to the monumental building with high pinnacles, numerous squiggles, and 3-dimensional interior design. Later, during the tour, we discovered the works of art by Sagrada’s architect Gaudi, including Casa Batllo and Casa Mila (La Pedrera). 

The Sagrada Familia is located a little northeast of the city center and is easily reached by metro, bus, or cab. We stayed about 5 hours in this part of the city – as we visited not only the church but also the surrounding area and had some fresh fish to eat in the nearby restaurants. You’ll also find many souvenirs – including miniature La Sagradas, a great gift to bring home!

Walking Tour: Sagrada Familia

Rising majestically above Athens, Mount Lycabettus offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of the city, stretching to the Aegean Sea. At 277 meters (908 feet) above sea level, it’s the highest point in Athens, making it a prime spot for breathtaking sunsets and unforgettable vistas of landmarks like the Acropolis, the Panathenaic Stadium, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Steeped in legend, the hill is said to have been created by Athena herself. 
1. The summit provides sweeping views of Athens and beyond, especially magical at sunset or night when the city lights sparkle. 
2. At the peak, a small, whitewashed chapel called the Chapel of St. George adds to the charm of the hill. It’s a serene spot for reflection and a great photo opportunity. 
3. Visitors can enjoy a meal or coffee at the mountaintop restaurant, blending fine dining with natural beauty. 
4. The open-air Lycabettus Theater hosts concerts and performances during the summer, adding a cultural touch to the experience. 
5. Visitors can hike up the winding trails for a more adventurous approach or take the cable car from Kolonaki for a comfortable ascent. 
Visitor Tip: Plan your visit for late afternoon to enjoy the sunset and city lights. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes if you decide to hike.

Mount Lycabettus

What does the southern end of the world look like? After five and a half l-o-n-g hours from Punta Arenas, out of the blue appears Hotel Explora Salto Chico - and it’s breathtaking. With a stunning, modern countenance, views-to-die-for of Torres del Paine (the Towers) and Cuernos del Paine (the Horns), and the sound of the Salto Chico waterfall as we linger over amazing food and excellent Chilean wine.

The Explora guides ensure they get us out of bed. My favorite experience - a day-long hike to Grey glacier. And when we get really close, our guides hop into a little boat to fetch thousand-year-old ice from the glacier for little drinks of Pisco Sour! 

Patagonia’s Parc Nacional Torres del Paine has picture postcard views everywhere. If you are a keen hiker, try the Circuit or the W. I stick to day hikes as a rule - if you are like me, try Grey Glacier, French Valley Glacier or Base of the Paine Towers.

Set off on an extraordinary journey of the mind at the Museum of Illusions Madrid. Opened in June 2020, it's a relatively new addition to Madrid's cultural scene but has quickly become a must-visit destination. Madrid’s Museum of Illusions

Antalya, Turkey, is home to the Antalya Museum, one of the country’s most important archaeological museums, showcasing thousands of years of history from ancient civilizations that once thrived in the region. Covering spanning prehistoric, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman eras, the museum is a treasure trove of artifacts, statues, and mosaics, many of which were discovered in nearby sites like Perge, Aspendos, and Termessos. With its well-curated exhibits and stunning sculptures, the Antalya Museum is a must-visit for history lovers.

We arrive by RIB boat from Longyearbyen, dressed in survival suits, across a choppy Arctic Sea, with puffins and seals for company.

Isfjord Radio on Cape Linné, is an abandoned strategic communications station, with a decidedly interesting past, now converted into a stylish expedition lodge. 

Nothing could have prepared me for the extreme sense of isolation and wilderness. 

Imagine sitting all alone at latitude 79 degrees north and watching polar bears prowling outside the kitchen window. Two days ago, that is exactly what the staff at Isfjord Radio did.  After all, Svalbard’s travel slogan reads: “3000 polar bears, 2500 humans”. 

Hiking into the middle of nowhere, or along the coast looking for 1500-kilo walruses, is done with licensed guides, a couple of mandatory rifles for protection and huskies for company. It is a beautiful, stark landscape, filled with mystery and a sense of the unknown.
