Carnevale in Mamoiada (February 15 and 17, 2026) immerses you in the rich culture of Sardinia’s festivities. The decorated streets of this ancient village come alive with haunting rhythms of cowbells, hypnotic movements of dancers, and tradition preserved through centuries: it’s a celebration of history, mythology and community.

You will watch the Mamuthones, cloaked in black sheepskins with grotesque wooden masks, moving in slow, ritualistic dances. Meanwhile, the Issohadores, with vibrant red shirts and white masks, wield lassos to capture the dancers (and spectators!).

Your day includes exploring the local museum to uncover the origins and craftsmanship of these iconic masks, savoring a Sardinian lunch featuring local delicacies, and and gaining exclusive access to the courtyard where Carnevale characters don their costumes and cowbells before joining the parade.

Elafonisi Beach

As you enter the Palazzo Ducale in Venice, and wander through its halls and chambers, know that you're walking in the footsteps of Doges and councilors who shaped the destiny of the Serenissima Republic. The palace stands proudly as a symbol of Venice's glorious past: Gothic grandeur meets Renaissance elegance. Key highlights:

1: The palace has opulent façades adorned with intricate carvings, statues, and frescoes. Originally a 9th-century structure, the palace underwent numerous renovations, especially under Doge Francesco Foscari in the 15th century, reflecting Gothic and Renaissance influences.

2: Inside, the Hall of the Great Council, built between 1340 and 1355, impresses with its size and harmonious proportions. Here, the greatest artists of their time, including Tintoretto and Veronese, contributed to its decoration. Torre de Belém: The Sentinel

Cádiz, Spain, is home to El Pópulo District, the oldest neighborhood in the city and one of the most historic quarters in Europe. Dating back to the 13th century, this charming district is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, medieval archways, and beautifully aged buildings, making it a must-visit for history lovers. Greenland

Disko Bay is the Iceberg Factory for 10% of Greenland's icebergs. Sadly, production has increased in recent years, with Spring melts as early as April.

Nothing prepares you for the disorientation - and wonderment - of the brilliance of a midnight Sun. Especially when surrounded by massive icebergs that reflect and mirror the sky and the sea.

I don't remember seeing this yesterday, I tell the boat captain, is this a new work of art? He laughs, and tells me that everyday is  a bit different. 

The midnight boat trip in end-July - as the sun sets just for a few minutes - is the best time to see the sky’s amazing colors reflected on the icebergs.

Iceberg Factory

Sidi Mohammed Museum

The cataplana is both a traditional dish and the name of the clam-shaped copper pan in which it’s prepared, with roots that trace back to Moorish influences in Portugal.
