What is this?
This is a fascinating, expert-led storytelling session paired with private dining—an intimate introduction to Morocco’s oral storytelling tradition. Set in Marrakesh, in a museum or studio venue, the evening unfolds in three stages, drawing you into a world of myth, memory, and ancestral wisdom. A professional storyteller brings to life the spirit of The Thousand and One Nights, while the rhythmic pulse of live Gnawa music adds a hypnotic energy to the experience.
A Moroccan feast, prepared by local chefs, anchors the experience. Each dish reflects the country’s diverse culinary heritage—layered, spiced, and deeply regional. As you savor these flavors, the stories and music surround you, turning the session into something between a performance and a fairy tale, as you wait—much like King Shahryar—for the next chapter to unfold.
Join this experience to be part of a thousand-year-old art form once heard in every square—and now reimagined for a new generation, and offered in English.
What makes this unique?
What makes this experience unique is its deep immersion into Moroccan storytelling—an oral tradition passed from memory to memory over a thousand years. You’ll hear echoes of Arabian Nights and legendary voices from the past, but also of contemporary storytellers like your host, who are helping preserve and evolve this craft in the modern world.
Your host Zouhair trained in Marrakesh’s public squares and cafés, the same spaces where generations of hakawatis once held crowds spellbound. He studied under several of Morocco’s master storytellers and now works to revive storytelling in a world shaped by screens and shrinking attention spans.
Unlike a scripted show, each session is personal and alive—stories shift with each telling, shaped by audience and mood. You’ll be part of a cultural ritual that once filled Djemaa el-Fnaa Square and now finds new life in more intimate spaces. It’s entertainment, yes—but also memory, history, and identity passed from voice to voice, across
