What is this?

Immerse yourself in Rome’s Jesuit District for a journey that unravels the history of the Jesuit Order and the Baroque artistry of illusion, where masterpieces were crafted to engage the senses and deepen spiritual understanding. Discover Andrea Pozzo’s groundbreaking anamorphic techniques, where flat surfaces transform into towering architectural wonders, and ceilings dissolve into breathtaking illusions. These visual marvels were tools of evangelization, bringing faith to life through spectacle. The tour begins at the Church of St. Ignatius, with Pozzo’s stunning vault and illusory dome. Then, visit the Jesuit headquarters, where his painted corridor in St. Ignatius’s rooms unveils hidden layers of meaning. Finally, explore the Gesù, the Order’s main church, and witness the Machina Barocca show, a dramatic fusion of art and music that reveals the saint’s ascent to Heaven. This immersive experience brings art and spirituality together in a way that will leave you spellbound.
