What is this?
Discover Epidaurus, where healing and theater were deeply connected in the ancient world. This experience blends guided exploration with interactive activities, making history engaging for families.
Elias will guide you through the Sanctuary of Asclepius, once one of the most revered healing centers of antiquity. Here, the sick sought divine intervention—Asclepius himself was believed to appear in dreams, revealing remedies or miraculous cures.
The visit continues to the Theatre of Epidaurus, one of the most celebrated theaters of antiquity. More than a place of performance, it was an essential part of therapy, reflecting the belief that art could restore both body and mind.
Finally, take part in theatrical games led by Rita, where storytelling and improvisation bring history to life. Families engage in a hands-on exploration of Greek drama and its ties to ancient healing practices.
What makes this unique?
This experience brings Epidaurus to life in a way that goes beyond facts and dates, revealing how healing and theater were deeply intertwined. With Elias, explore the Sanctuary of Asclepius, where medicine, faith, and dreams shaped ancient healing, and discover why it was one of antiquity’s most revered centers of well-being. Stand in the iconic theatre, where performances were more than entertainment—they were a path to emotional and physical restoration.
What truly sets this apart is the interactive family-focused element: guided by Rita, a drama educator, take part in theatrical games that bring ancient drama to life. This is a chance to connect with history not just by seeing but by experiencing it through movement, imagination, and play—perfect for families and curious minds alike.
For a more contemplative version focused on ancient wellness practices and olive oil tradition, see Elias’s other tour: "Where Theater Was Healing."
