What is this?
This 3-hour private experience is divided into a visit to the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and a relaxed weaving workshop with Flor—a passionate textile artist and entrepreneur from Santiago. Over coffee and cake in a beautiful setting, Flor will introduce you to the art of pin loom weaving: a portable and creative method of weaving using a small frame with pins or nails. After this, you will visit the museum and tour the collection of over 1,000 pieces of Indigenous art, focusing on textiles.
During the mini workshop, Flor will share simple techniques to start your own woven design—something you can continue during your travels. This also serves as a moment for Flor to provide an overview of Chilean textile design from past until present. As a precursor for the museum, she’ll share stories about the cultural significance of weaving in Chile and explain how traditional techniques continue to inspire contemporary makers. The price includes a mini weaving kit and refreshments.
What makes this unique?
Curated for those curious about handwoven crafts, this rare opportunity to engage with a local artist fosters creativity, cultural connection, and a deeper appreciation for Chilean and Andean fiber arts. It fuses a hands-on weaving experience with storytelling and a guided museum visit concerned with the Indigenous heritage behind woven creations. Flor—passionate about making weaving accessible, expressive, and rooted in place—invites you to explore the vibrant textile culture of Chile through listening and participation.
In her globally successful pin loom brand, Flor draws creative inspiration from all regions of Chile—blending Indigenous knowledge and innovation. As you work with yarns and learn simple weaving methods, she’ll share the broader cultural significance of Chilean textiles, including the rich variety of materials and traditional practices still alive today. Coupled with the museum trip, it delights aspiring artists and cultural historians in equal measure.
What is the profile of the host?
Florencia Campos Correa, or Flor, is a Chilean-Spanish textile designer and author based in Santiago. Her business, Ullvuna, is dedicated to portable pin loom weaving kits which are available globally. Much of Flor's inspiration comes from her passion and appreciation for Chilean culture and people.
