What is this?

This day trip from Santiago visits the renowned Colchagua Valley, one of Chile’s most fertile and emblematic but oft-overlooked wine regions. A 2-hour scenic drive south brings you to the country’s ultra-luxurious wine estate where you will experience Chilean architecture, art, gastronomy, wine, and nature. The outing includes an architectural tour, oenologist-led wine tasting, and premium lunch among the vines. At VIK Winery, designed by architect Smiljan Radić, advanced technology and refined design merge seamlessly with the natural topography. The architecture integrates passive energy systems to ensure environmental efficiency in the production of world-class wines. Beyond its technical excellence, the winery embraces a holistic vision uniting art, landscape, and culture. Sculptural interventions by Marcela Correa bring the essence of the Colchagua Valley into the project, transforming the vineyard into a space where architecture, nature, and creative experimentation coexist.

What makes this unique?

Parceled within the wider Colchagua Valley, the Millahue Valley sub-region produces Chile's highest quality wines. Translating to "Golden Place" in the Mapuche language, this plot was chosen for its unique microclimates and complex soils. Diego's experience informs how low-intervention viticulture exists within a sustainably-designed winery. Visiting VIK with Diego presents a rare opportunity to explore one of Chile’s most outstanding architectural works within a living cultural landscape. Guided by an architect, you will gain insight into the creative and technical processes that govern VIK Winery—an exceptional fusion of design innovation, sustainability, and artistic vision. A curated wine tasting offers a deep understanding of the region’s production and terroir. Surrounded by vineyards and Andean foothills, the visit culminates with a high-level gastronomic lunch among the vines—an immersive journey that celebrates Chilean wine culture through architecture, landscape, and art.
