What is this?

This full-day experience from Mendoza takes you high into the Andes for what can only be described as the ultimate feast with the ultimate view. You'll travel through breathtaking mountain landscapes, stopping first in Potrerillos for local treats—tortitas and facturas (savory and sweet pastries)—served with mate (a caffeinated herbal beverage) or coffee. From there, the journey continues to a stunning viewpoint at the entrance of the Uspallata Valley near the Chilean border. Next, you'll ascend to a high-altitude estancia at 2,000 meters, where a traditional Asado a la Llama awaits. This open-fire meal is paired with wines from the estancia and El Enemigo—a remarkable match. Weather permitting, you’ll dine outdoors with sweeping views; if not, the fire indoors sets a warm tone. You'll eat, toast, share stories, and soak up the quiet magic of this extraordinary place. After coffee and dessert, you'll begin the slow descent back to Mendoza—with a full belly and a full heart.

What makes this unique?

This is a special soulful day in the mountains, curated for food lovers, wine enthusiasts, and curious wanderers alike. You’ll drink, eat, laugh, and learn in equal measure while bonding with your charismatic host, Julieta, who will explain the cultural significance of the cuisine. Slow-cooked over an open flame and rooted in Indigenous traditions, asado a la llama is as much a social ritual as it is a meal. The hours spent around the fire, tending the meat, are filled with stories, shared over mate and wine. As you watch the fire dance, toast local wines, and connect with the people who call this remarkable place home, your senses will come alive. The tempo of this rural culinary experience is relaxed, intimate, and real. The meal honors time, place, and shared tradition. As the icing on the cake, Julieta is also a professional photographer. She’ll help you capture high-quality images of the landscapes—souvenirs that, along with the memories, will last long after the day ends.

What is the profile of the host?

Born and raised in Mendoza, Julieta offers an insider’s perspective on Argentina's premium wine region through engaging conversations and unique experiences. After spending years guiding throughout Argentina and Chile, she has returned to her home city with a vision to show a different side to Mendoza. Julieta's experience mixes a keen knowledge of geology, history, and wine with spontaneity and humor. These unforgettable moments are captured on camera because she also happens to be a professional photographer. Once at the estancia, you'll rendezvous with a team member who will guide you through the wines, share the story of the estate, and explain the magic of this unique high-altitude terroir. You'll enjoy the entire outing with a local and experience the wine with the people who live it.

What to bring?
