Lydia has lived in Mexico for ~20 years, including more than a decade in Mexico City, where she works as a food and travel writer and runs her tours. For the past nine years, she has guided guests through the city with a particular focus on street food and everyday eating culture, built on years of research, reporting, and constant exploration.

Her writing centers on Mexican food, urban history, and daily life. She has contributed to dozens of international publications and is a recurring author for the Louis Vuitton Mexico City Guide. She also writes a monthly Substack covering the city’s evolving food scene.

Lydia’s tours reflect the way she works as a writer: curious and grounded in context. She focuses on vendors and neighborhoods that reveal how the city actually eats. This experience takes you through the North side of Cappadocia covering the region’s most iconic sites. You’ll start at the Göreme National Park taking in the views of the surreal volcanic landscape where mammoths once roamed. Then enjoy a short walk among the fairy chimneys and the pigeon houses admiring the manmade wall paintings. After a traditional lunch, you’ll stop in Avanos, a town with a rich pottery-making tradition dating back to the Hittites, a civilization that settled in Turkey around 2000 BC. You’ll witness the artisans at work and sample regional wines before continuing towards the Imagination Valley (Devrent), where naturally sculpted rocks take on intriguing shapes that resemble animals and other figures. The day concludes at Paşabağ (Monks Valley), where hermits once carved their homes into giant fairy chimneys. This full-day photographic excursion whisks you away to salty lagoons and a traditional Atacameño town as yet untouched by tourism. Besides learning landscape photography tips and tricks under the eye of a professional photographer, you will float in a saline lake and learn the geological importance of the region's ecosystem.

The day starts at Cejar Lagoon where the high salinity carries you across the surface of the lake without needing to stroke or kick. Swimming is optional yet highly recommended. After drying off, you will visit the Tebenquinche Lagoon to study the salt deposits from the lakeside. There is a relaxed lunch interlude in the town of Toconao where you will tour its main square and side streets. The afternoon concludes at the Atacama Salt Flat in the Chaxa Lagoon where flamingos wade in the shallows for shrimp. Throughout the day, photography remains the priority. 

This is an immersive exploration of the flora and fauna of the Salar de Atacama focusing on photography. Mirko—schooled in the geology and geography of the region—will impart knowledge sharpened by years of living in San Pedro de Atacama. He will explain the fragility of the ecosystems and provide insight into why the Indigenous Licanantay people consider the lagoons and volcanoes sacred. As a professional photographer, he will train your eye to capture the smallest of details and mentor you through the stages of capturing landscapes and close-ups.

The experience also includes the option to swim in Cejar Lagoon; a thrilling experience which fosters a deeper connection with the environment and supports with acclimatizing to this parched landscape. Concluding in the Chaxa Lagoon, you are likely to encounter all three species of resident flamingo: Chilean, Andean, and James's. This cooking workshop takes place in a scenic Indigenous Zapotec town and introduces you to local ingredients and techniques specific to regional tamale-making. You'll be guided by a member of a Zapotec women’s collective that supports local women and their community, along with your guide, who will assist with organization and translation.

During the workshop, you'll get hands-on experience with the ingredients and methods used by the women in this collective to create handmade tamales. Women Supporting Women is a collective founded in the 1990s by Indigenous Zapotec women—many of whom were widowed, single mothers, or unmarried, circumstances that were socially frowned upon at the time. In addition to cooking, the group also weaves wool rugs, producing handcrafted pieces sold in their workshop.

You'll leave with a deeper appreciation for Zapotec cooking traditions and a richer understanding of the historical and contemporary challenges facing this community.

Taking place in a social impact-oriented space, this workshop is located in a traditional Zapotec village relatively close to Oaxaca de Juárez. It not only offers insight into local ingredients and cooking techniques but also supports the core mission of this women-run project, which helps local women and their broader community.

Joined by a host with a long-standing relationship with the organization, you’ll be welcomed into this meaningful space and invited to learn more about local culture and food traditions from a Zapotec perspective.

Proceeds from this experience go toward maintaining the space itself—a safe, communal hub where widows, single mothers, and unmarried women can sell their handmade textiles, host workshops, and take part in personal development courses focused on finance, self-care, and marketing skills.

Over seven days, Buenos Aires greets you with ritual, rhythm, and grand facades before the road opens west to Mendoza and the Andes. This week balances guided encounters with space to breathe. For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
