You’ll begin with lunch at a local restaurant/cafe, chosen for its connection to the neighborhood. Then take a slow walk through the area: passing family-run stores, neighborhood shrines, and traditional homes. Your guide will introduce you to  daily life here, and how this district became a living archive of pre-war Tokyo — not through preservation but continuity.

Now you're in the Taisho / Eatly Showa period. Yanaka offers a rare sense of what the city looked and felt like before the skyline rose. You’ll see how small temples sit tucked between houses, how cats lounge outside old bookstores, how the same shops have served the same community for generations. Your guide will explain how this area has resisted the forces that reshaped the rest of the city — and what that says about Tokyo’s layered identity. Lunch is part of the story.

Looking Up, Looking Back

Asakusa was the cultural heart of the Late Edo Period, and Senso-ji - Tokyo’s oldest temple - was its spiritual anchor. This segment of the tour begins at Kaminarimon, the Thunder Gate, with its massive red lantern and statues of protective gods. You’ll walk down Nakamise-dori, a shopping street that has served pilgrims for centuries, before arriving at the main temple complex.

Beneath its vast courtyard “paraguas” canopy — a concrete umbrella supported by a single column — you walk through galleries that hold Mexico’s ancient imagination and Indigenous legacy: Mexica calendar stone, Zapotec urns, Mayan reliefs.

If you choose Chapultepec Castle instead of Museo Tamayo, Andrea will arrange to visit this first — so you can make the climb while the hill is still cool and shaded.

Perched high above the city, the castle commands sweeping views of the valley and stands as a symbol of Mexico’s layered history. Built in the late 18th century, it has served many lives — first as colonial palace, then as residence of Emperor Maximilian I and Empress Carlota during the Second Mexican Empire, and later as official home of Mexico’s presidents. Today, it houses the National Museum of History, where rooms are preserved with 19th-century furnishings, imperial artifacts, and murals tracing the country’s struggle for independence and revolution.

From there, you visit the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, a remarkable insitution that preserves the experimental studio and public mission of David Alfaro Siqueiros, one of Mexico’s great muralists. Housed in the artist’s former home and workshop, the building still bears the traces of his process — large-scale murals, technical studies, and the curved walls designed for his “Polyangular” method, meant to let art move with the viewer.

This experience begins in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, one of the most celebrated appellations in the Rhône Valley. The day opens with a visit to a family estate, where you walk through the vineyards and cellars while learning how generations of winemakers have shaped the identity of the appellation. Argentina

Set out on a sensory and genuinely unusual experience of music, food, nature, and company, helmed by the bandoneonista and composer Captain Ariel Hernández on his 1940s wooden riverboat. Once aboard Flor de Ceibo, you sail into a five-hour journey through the Tigre Delta, just 45 minutes north of Buenos Aires. Captain Ariel’s carefully chosen route carries you along quiet branches of the river past stilted houses, while the sounds of the water, birdsong, and rustling trees set the tone. 

Casting anchor in a peaceful stretch of the delta, you share an onboard asado (Argentine barbecue) with Captain Ariel, followed by a live performance by him on the bandoneón, the portable reed instrument that became the defining voice of tango. Ariel explains the instrument’s path from religious music in Germany to the tango halls of the Río de la Plata. Although the boat can accommodate up to seven passengers, the experience is capped at four to preserve comfort and intimacy. 

This is not simply a boat trip, but something closer to poetry on the water. It begins with the boat itself, a beautiful heirloom from the 1940s, from a world of wooden craftsmanship now largely replaced by fiberglass.
