At the heart of Cuglieri’s Holy Week are traditions that blend raw spirituality with centuries-old rituals. During the solemn Mass, the choir "a cuncordu" performs the Miserere, their voices weaving an ancient polyphonic tapestry of devotion. This distinctive singing style, carried by four male voices (bassu, contra, mesa boghe, and boghe), resonates deeply in the sacred silence, offering unforgettable, evocative moments of connection to a tradition passed down through generations.

With formal certification from Türkiye's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and years of teaching experience, Şeyma has a profound understanding of the history, evolution, and intricacies of the traditional Turkish art of illumination. Having participated in many group and solo exhibitions and published work on Tezhip art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient art form. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.

Juta Valley

Trieste, Italy, is home to the Risiera di San Sabba, a former rice mill turned Nazi concentration camp during World War II. As the only Nazi extermination camp in Italy, it serves as a chilling yet essential reminder of one of history’s darkest periods. Today, the site operates as a museum and memorial, honoring the thousands of political prisoners, partisans, and Jewish victims who were imprisoned, tortured, and deported from this location. Walking through the stark, somber complex offers a powerful and deeply moving experience.


1. At the entrance, a vast, empty courtyard evokes a haunting sense of history, where prisoners once stood before being interrogated or deported to Auschwitz and other camps. The atmosphere is solemn and reflective.
