With Marco's expert guidance, you'll explore the city's enchanting alleyways, hidden spots and secretive sides seldom seen by visitors, all while honing your photography skills. From pre-arranged shooting sessions with elaborately costumed models in secluded locations to sunrise/sunset captures in emblematic squares, this workshop offers a comprehensive journey through Carnevale's splendor. 

The Venice Carnevale has deep-rooted origins dating back to the era of the "Serenissima." The zenith of Venice's opulence in the sixteenth century witnessed lavish festivities, where the anonymity afforded by masks blurred societal distinctions among citizens, fostering a unique sense of equality across class, age, and wealth. This experience is very special, as it captures the true ethos of Carnevale. 

Through a carefully curated 24-hour itinerary spread over three days, you are immersed in the art and culture of Venice. Activities are designed to capture Venice's myriad facets, from its serene mornings to the magical twilight ambiance. Discover Genoa, also known as La Superba (a nickname celebrating Genoa’s historic grandeur and noble character), through the lens of a professional photographer. As you walk through the twisting alleys of the Caruggi, you’ll find the city’s true character in its aged facades, lively squares, and unexpected corners that hold stories from centuries past. The journey covers a 200m (656ft) climb over approximately an hour along mule tracks, leading to Aremd—the last village before the towering Toubkal summit. From here, the views are unrivaled, offering a picturesque look down the valley and up towards North Africa’s highest peak. Your experience includes a meal in a Berber family home, providing an intimate glimpse into the local lifestyle. 

On the return walk, visit the captivating waterfalls of the Amadin Gorge near Imlil, where the water cascades over ancient rocks; a perfect spot for reflection and photos. This rounds off a day of gentle adventure and cultural immersion.

The excursion begins in Imlil, about 1.5 hours by car from Marrakesh. If you’re staying in Marrakesh, Ourika, or similar, please arrange round-trip transportation with your hotel.

Bruno Berthier is a painter with a background in sociology and experience in diplomacy. His work is characterised by thick brushstrokes and a bold use of colour. Coming from a family of painters of Italian origin, he grew up in Mexico City’s Coyoacán neighborhood and is passionate about Mexican and international contemporary art. He has a passion for travelling and spent many years couchsurfing and meeting people across Europe and Asia. He is a member of the Quinto Piso Collective, composed of numerous contemporary artists working in CDMX. This collective works to support each other and promote Mexico City’s exciting contemporary art scene. 

Chile

This six-hour asado experience in Valparaíso is the most authentic Chilean barbecue experience you'll find in the Fifth Region. Not only is your host an expert guide born and raised in the seaport, but he is also an avid grill master. The experience starts with the purchase of ingredients from Juan Víctor’s local feria (market). You’ll pick up fresh herbs and vegetables while chatting to vendors and immersing yourself in the scents, textures, and sounds of the market. As no Chilean meal is complete without wine, you will also purchase some regional Carménère and Sauvignon Cabernet.

Once at Juan Víctor’s family home, you will prepare the asado using his self-built brick parrilla. This includes chopping aji (chili) and tomatoes for pebre (Chilean salsa), tending to the charcoal, or priming marraqueta (bread rolls) for the starter of choripan (chorizo sausages). The experience is delivered at an unhurried pace with emphasis on sharing stories and truly understanding the culture of asado.

Dining in Chile goes beyond what appears on the menu. Food is a cultural exchange — anything placed on the table is for sharing, no meal is hurried, and stories are the main course. As the pinnacle of Chilean food culture, the asado chileno is rooted in the idea of convivencia (togetherness) and Juan Víctor's intimate barbecue is a rare invitation to experience this for yourself in Valparaíso. Forget table service and being waited on — you will peruse local markets before making yourself at home in a private porteño residence, usually in the company of Juan Víctor's family and friends.

As the asador (grill master), Juan Víctor oversees the running of things and sees that every item is cooked to perfection. While fire, meat, and wine are the foundations of the experience, it's the friendships that will leave a lasting impression. We spend nearly four amazing hours in the Sand River Circuit in the midst of a spectacular head of grunting wildebeest. Led by “collective intelligence”, these animals complete a 1000 mile loop over the course of a year, and most survive for several seasons of this tough journey! 

When we arrive in the Grumeti Reserves, further south, we find the last few hundred thousand or so wildebeest. Here they are extremely purposeful and move in a single-file. Perhaps they have realized that they are late and will miss out on all the new green grass in the northern plains. They kick up a storm of dust as they move forward with determination - though it is not unusual to see the whole herd running swiftly back if something ahead spooks them. 

It is here that we see the consequences of the ‘battle’ - injured animals or those too weary to complete the journey. This is sad to watch as they will soon become easy prey to the predators. 

Such is the ⭕️ of life.

Staying at the Inn at Death Valley, we thought we would be able to get up just before sunrise and make a dash over to Zabriskie Point. In hind sight, we should have woken up a good 60 minutes earlier, since the viewpoint was packed with people as we got there. 


The stunning views of the badlands slowly fill up with yellow, orange, purple and brown colors - and every hue in between - as the sun comes up, totally makes up for the early rise. Once the sun has finished painting the badlands, it reaches out to color in the Panamint Range across the valley with gorgeous pinks and purples. If you want to avoid the crowds, do the 2.5 mile Badlands Loop hike. Right after the walk, you can drive the short 3 mile Twenty Mule Team Canyon loop drive before returning to Stovepipe Wells for breakfast. 

We had been told that the Death Valley National Park is all about extremes - and the Zabriskie Point is a visual representation of that.

Just a few kilometers south of Essaouira, Morocco, lies the sleepy village of Diabat, forever linked to the legendary musician Jimi Hendrix. Though his visit in 1969 was brief, Hendrix’s presence left a lasting mark on the area’s identity, blending the village’s laid-back atmosphere with a sense of rock ‘n’ roll mystique. Today, Diabat remains a peaceful retreat, known for its windswept beaches, local cafés, and rustic charm, drawing travelers and music lovers eager to connect with this slice of rock history.

Visitor Tip: The best way to reach Diabat is by foot, bicycle, or a short taxi ride from Essaouira. Visit during sunset for magical light over the ruins, and bring a camera to capture the iconic landscapes that inspired countless legends.

Australia

The best thing about visiting Australia is that scenic views and spectacular nature are just a stone's throw away, no matter where you are. If you're in Sydney, you won't get a better view of the ocean than walking through Royal National Park and taking Bundeena Drive to Marley Walk.

Passing through scenic heathland with small trees, you'll soon come to a bushwalk through a denser forest. We saw many native bird species, including the famous cockatoo, had a dip in one of the pools along the way, and took stunning sunset photos as you look out over the wild ocean. The tourist highlight is Wedding Cake Rock, but our personal star was Marley Beach, a dreamy, hidden sandy beach where you can relax and dip your feet in the refreshing water.

You can rent a car and drive directly to Bundeena, but we decided to take the train from Sydney to Cronulla and from there take the ferry to Bundeena.

Visiting the salt pans in Olhão during summer offers a unique and scenic experience, revealing a centuries-old tradition that continues to shape the Algarve’s landscape and economy. 2. These salt flats are a sanctuary for birdlife, with flamingos, storks, and avocets frequently spotted wading through the shallow pools. Summer brings an abundance of bird species to the area, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers. 

3. Fleur de sel, or “flower of salt,” is one of the premium products harvested here. Known for its delicate flavor and purity, it’s collected from the surface of the salt pans and is a favorite among chefs and food enthusiasts. Many local shops in Olhão sell this prized salt, the perfect souvenir. 

4. Guided tours of the salt pans provide an informative perspective on the history and environmental significance of salt production in the Algarve. Many tours include a tasting, allowing you to sample the distinct flavors of different salt varieties while learning about the region’s sustainable practices.

5. The Ria Formosa landscape surrounding the salt pans is beautiful in summer, with contrasting shades of blue water, white salt mounds, and vibrant greenery. The tranquil setting invites relaxation and reflection.

Bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water, as the summer sun can be intense. Comfortable walking shoes and a camera are also essential to fully enjoy this unique and photogenic landscape.

Church of St. Euphemia

Il Duomo di Milano, a symbol of Milan's grandeur, stands as a testament to Gothic architecture. Why should you visit?
1 - Dominating Milan's skyline, the Duomo's 135 spires, including the iconic Madonnina spire, create a stunning silhouette. The Madonnina, a polychrome sculpture created by Giuseppe Perego in 1762, rests atop the tallest spire at a breathtaking height of 108 meters. 
2 - Il Duomo is adorned with over 3,400 statues, the largest collection on any building globally. Notable is the statue of the Madonnina covered in 3,900 pieces of gold leaf. With its dramatic stalactites, towering stalagmites, and mesmerizing rock formations, Grotta Gigante offers a breathtaking journey into the depths of the Earth.

1. Inside the cave, an enormous underground hall creates a jaw-dropping spectacle, with cathedral-like dimensions that earned Grotta Gigante a spot in the Guinness World Records as the largest show cave in the world open to tourists.
