Quiet clothing that doesn’t startle the wildlife is also recommended. Since temperatures can dip as the sun sets, consider bringing a jacket to stay warm during the evening shoot.

This gourmet walking tour is divided into seven tasty segments. Upon meeting your host, Carlos, you will cruise your way around a string of bakeries, markets, restaurants, and ice cream parlors with tastings in each location. Carlos has cherry-picked his favorite places to eat and imbues his excursion with cultural commentary and personal tales from his own experiences working in restaurants alongside his father, a prolific Argentine chef. The experience is designed as a walking tour with each food stop bookended by dipping into the plazas, parks, street art, and boutiques of Palermo. Needless to say, a healthy appetite is a must!

This culinary jaunt around the Palermo Soho barrio is an authentic exploration of Argentine and Porteño flavors. It's designed to introduce you to the culinary delights of the "Paris of South America" while providing context to each bite. While grazing on empanadas, chomping on sandwiches de miga, gnawing into prime cuts of steak, and nursing a Fernet digestif, Carlos will share tidbits about the history of these staples and how they have evolved.

The itinerary loosely mimics a seven course dining experience. Guided by passionate fisherman Andrea Rossi, this journey is designed to immerse you in the natural wonders of the lagoon in just three hours. 

As you set sail from Burano, let the peaceful canals of the island of Torcello take your breath away. Then, delve into the lagoon's tranquil sandbanks, where Andrea will unveil the secrets of the lagoon's diverse bird species, and the aromatic plants that have been used in Venetian cuisine for centuries and are still employed by contemporary Venetian chefs to create unique dishes and liqueurs.  You will have plenty of opportunities for photos and foraging. At the end of the tour, Andrea will drop you off near the Burano traghetto stop. If you are interested, ask Andrea about his family’s lace shop where you can learn about Burano lace, as you explore the island on your own. 

This tour is perfect for nature and photography enthusiasts, and those seeking a short yet immersive exploration of the Venetian lagoon, far from the madding crowds. 

From Venice to Burano, it's a 20-25 minute ride by private water taxi (can be booked via your hotel) or a 45 minute ride on the public vaporetto (runs from 5 AM onwards, check exact time with hotel).

You'll discover the flora and fauna of the Venetian lagoon by following unique itineraries known only to local fishermen, far from the typical tourist routes. Along the way, you'll find plenty of photo opportunities, with stops for foraging, a chance to observe the differences in various species of clams, and the possibility of seeing pink flamingos and other birds. Plus, in the middle of the lagoon, enjoy a delightful snack and a refreshing drink to make your journey even more memorable. 

Andrea is a genuine steward of Burano’s fishing culture, including employing ancient fishing techniques and gathering edible plants from the mudflats. Mexico

This experience takes you into the world of local Oaxacan stonework, centered around a lightweight, porous rock known as "cantera". This material is essential to the history of Oaxaca—many of the region’s structures are built from it. During colonial times, the area was briefly renamed Villa de Antequera because the stone’s soft green tones reminded settlers of that Spanish city.

You’ll visit a local cantera mine and family-run workshops to see their creative process firsthand. The experience also includes a homemade meal with the family matriarch. The set menu is accompanied by non-alcoholic drinks and a cup of locally made mezcal.

You’ll be guided by a fourth-generation stone artisan who shares both his family’s legacy and his own artistic work. You’ll engage in meaningful conversation about the history of cantera and the role it continues to play in the region. Transportation is included, and Ehren will provide translation support if needed.

Maestro Oscar has exhibited his work throughout the state and recently held a solo show. He also collaborates with local government to help preserve the city’s architectural harmony.

His great-grandparents once excavated stone from mines governed under indigenous law, and his grandfather contributed to many of the cantera structures in and around the city—including the ornate fountains in the Zócalo. In meeting this master artisan, you’ll connect with the current generation of stoneworkers who honor these traditions while sharing stories and relics that bring the past vividly into the present.

As you discuss local stonework, you’ll also enjoy Oaxacan delicacies over a private lunch prepared by his mother, Rubi, in her open kitchen—complete with a cup of local mezcal. The generational artistry of cantera has been recognized as an intangible cultural asset of Southern Mexico.

Ehren Seeland is a Oaxaca-based creative with a background in art and design and journalism, who travels the globe for professional and personal pursuits. A long-term resident of Oaxaca with family ties to the city, her passion for regional produce, traditional skills, and social impact makes her a fantastic host for the culturally curious and socially minded traveler.

Through all of her projects—including Hecho, a marketplace of artisan-made goods from natural materials—Ehren maintains an active focus on supporting Mexican ancestral traditions through handmade product development, including textiles, pottery, homewares, and other works. Her projects also place special emphasis on supporting women and indigenous communities.

Japan

This exploration of three lesser-known, evocative temple gardens in Kyoto offers a deep understanding of Japanese dry landscape design — where every stone, every line of raked gravel, carries meaning. Led by certified garden designer and author Ayumi Ikushima, the experience opens a thoughtful path into the philosophy and form of Zen gardens.

You’ll begin at the Crane and Turtle Garden where Ayumi introduces the foundational principles of Japanese garden design: symbolism, placement, interplay between nature and intention. 

A short walk takes you to a second temple where the garden reflects nature in miniature — a landscape composed to invite observation. You’ll learn to see and photograph the space mindfully.

Your final stop is a larger temple with a modern take on the tradition. A resident monk leads a meditation in view of the garden, offering how stillness and landscape are meant to interact. Then, you'll sit with Ayumi over tea and seasonal sweets to reflect and ask questions.

Many of Kyoto’s most famous temples now draw crowds so dense they verge on the tourist-trap, where authenticity gives way to speed and spectacle. This experience instead leads you through contemplative spaces where the spirit of the garden remains intact.  “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. You can't spend holidays in Barcelona without also visiting the Sagrada Familia. It's probably the city's biggest attraction – and for a good reason. 

La Sagrada, a Roman Catholic church, dates back to the 19th century but is still under construction (some expect it to be finished by 2026, but in my view, 2030 is a safer bet). We opted for a walking tour to the monumental building with high pinnacles, numerous squiggles, and 3-dimensional interior design. Later, during the tour, we discovered the works of art by Sagrada’s architect Gaudi, including Casa Batllo and Casa Mila (La Pedrera). 

The Sagrada Familia is located a little northeast of the city center and is easily reached by metro, bus, or cab. We stayed about 5 hours in this part of the city – as we visited not only the church but also the surrounding area and had some fresh fish to eat in the nearby restaurants. You’ll also find many souvenirs – including miniature La Sagradas, a great gift to bring home!

Sunset at Bordj El Berod

Since I knew that I was gonna travel to Argentina I wanted to visit La Boca. It is a little neighborhood where you can find some of the most famous landscapes of Buenos Aires. 

At the time I arrive, via bus or “bondi”, as it is said there, it was full of people; eating, buying souvenirs, taking photos, etc.

I loved this experience so much that I don’t want to spoil anything to you, just take the chance and visit that amazing place!
