France

The experience begins in Aix-en-Provence, with a walk through the historic centre along the streets and markets that shaped the world of Paul Cézanne. Squares, fountains, artisan shops, and market stalls reveal the character of the town, while stories of Cézanne and the artistic life of Provence accompany the walk.

Late in the morning, a scenic drive takes you south through the landscape dominated by Mont Sainte-Victoire, crossing the mountain’s southern flank above vineyards and Provençal villages, the same mountain that appears again and again in Cézanne’s paintings. You then stop for lunch in the village of Puyloubier, beneath the mountain, on a shaded square beside the fountain.

In the afternoon, the experience turns to the Sainte-Victoire wine area, with tastings at two vineyards set against the mountain. The first is a small producer committed to biodiversity, with vines planted on high slopes. The second is a family-run winery known for its wines.

Following Cézanne in Provence brings together three ways of experiencing the same landscape in a single day. You first encounter Mont Sainte-Victoire through Cézanne, who returned to it repeatedly in his paintings. You then cross the landscape itself, before arriving in the vineyards that still shape its slopes today.

You begin the day in San Miguel de Allende, traveling east into the countryside toward Atotonilco. Cesar explains the sanctuary’s murals — cited by UNESCO as a masterpiece of Mexican Baroque — and how they were created to guide meditation and spiritual practice. In the afternoon, you travel to Dolores Hidalgo and visit the parish church where Miguel Hidalgo issued the Grito de Dolores on September 16, 1810 — recognized as the start of Mexico’s independence movement. Chile

This four-hour walking experience immerses you in Barrio Yungay, one of Santiago de Chile’s oldest neighborhoods. This enclave was laid out shortly after Chile's Independence, and traces the transition from colonial rule to a modern, 19th century capital city. Its history mirrors Chile’s social, political, and architectural evolution, while Héctor’s experience focuses on art, history, and memory. As one of the most authentic parts of the city, you will experience the "real life" of a santiaguino or santiaguina.

Much of the route highlights the street art of Barrio Yungay. As Héctor shows, these murals speak of resistance, culture, nature, and much more. The walk zigzags through the streets, where every block has something unique to reveal. Along the way, you visit a local art gallery and learn about the ten artists whose work is exhibited there. You also stop at one of the world’s oldest continuously operating barbershops, where you can pause for a bite at its café.

This is not a party trajinera tour. Instead, you'll experience Xochimilco in a mindful and peaceful way. When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

This Andalusia road trip traces southern Spain’s emotional and cultural spine, moving from Atlantic shores to Moorish palaces and Mediterranean light. Beginning in Cádiz and Jerez de la Frontera, the journey enters flamenco’s deepest roots before unfolding in Seville through ritual, reflection, and royal history. DAY 1 – JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA | Arrive the day before to rest and begin after breakfast. Jerez, one of flamenco’s spiritual homes, introduces soleá and bulería: introspection and rhythmic joy. This is not a staged show but a lived encounter shaped by lineage & improvisation. You’ll see how flamenco emerged through patios, taverns, and family gatherings, where rhythm, voice, and movement carry unspoken histories. Jerez’s whitewashed streets provide a fitting backdrop.

DAY 2 – CÁDIZ | The morning unfolds on the water, sailing the Bay of Cádiz amid Atlantic winds and open horizons. Fortifications, fishing boats, and coastlines reveal the city’s maritime soul. In the afternoon, travel inland toward Seville through landscapes shaped by trade and agriculture. 

DAY 3 – SEVILLE | This day is about slowing down. Beyond monuments, Seville reveals itself through silence, courtyards, filtered light, and stillness. Walking patiently, you experience how architecture, emotion, and spiritual life intertwine. DAY 4 – OLIVE GROVES & THE ALCÁZAR BY NIGHT | Morning takes you to Alcalá de Guadaíra to explore olive culture rooted in land, family, and tradition. In the evening, return for a nighttime visit to the Alcázar. After dark, the palace transforms—cool air, soft light, and near solitude reveal Mudéjar architecture and gardens in calm intimacy. Soil and stone come into balance.

DAY 5 – GRANADA | Travel to Granada in the morning. In the evening, experience flamenco in Sacromonte’s cave dwellings. Raw and communal, the music reverberates through stone, shaped by Romani history and resilience. Performer and audience merge into a shared emotional space.

DAY 6 – THE ALHAMBRA | The Alhambra is approached as a sensory journey rather than a checklist. Sound, texture, scent, light, and movement guide understanding. Water, carvings, and gardens express harmony and impermanence. The afternoon invites quiet wandering, carrying the palace’s calm into daily streets.

DAY 7 – GRANADA TO MÁLAGA | The morning explores Granada’s ceramic traditions, where patterns and glazes reveal centuries of cultural exchange. Craft becomes historical record. Then descend toward Málaga, trading mountains for Mediterranean light. Arrival brings a lighter, sea-facing rhythm.

Monolithos Beach, located on the eastern coast of Santorini near the airport, is a quiet and family-friendly destination ideal for relaxation. Known for its soft black sand and shallow waters, this beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying a peaceful day away from the island’s busier spots. With its laid-back atmosphere and convenient amenities, Monolithos Beach is a great choice for families and travelers seeking tranquility. 
1. The calm, shallow waters make it ideal for swimming and safe for families with children, offering a stress-free beach experience. 
2. The soft black sand typical of Santorini’s volcanic beaches provides a comfortable place to relax under the sun. 
3. There are organized sections with sun loungers and umbrellas, as well as quieter, unspoiled areas for those seeking privacy. 
4. Beachside tavernas and cafés serve fresh seafood and local dishes, allowing visitors to enjoy a meal or snack with a view.

Monolithos Beach

In Marrakech, explore the labyrinth of the medina, lined with market stalls and craftspeople, and full of secret places and contradictions. 

Anonymous, windowless, fortress-like walls enclose luxurious riads built around tiled courtyards, complete with fountains and gardens.

Happily, my wonderful guide Khadija of Morocco Private Experience, encourages my curiosity. She leads the way across the medieval labyrinth of chaotic alleyways - to the souks where centuries-old skills continue to flourish. 

I am intrigued about how all the craftspeople are clustered together by trade. We watch a metal craftsman shape a pair of gnawa cymbals. A leatherworker allows me inside his workshop for a better view. There is an entire street of ornate lantern sellers - the bronze-latticed lanterns competing with the palm-leafed roofs of the souks in throwing light-and-shadow patterns all around.

Heart and Souk

Valencia, Spain, is home to the Turia Gardens (Jardín del Turia), a lush, 9-kilometer-long green space that winds through the heart of the city. Once the riverbed of the diverted Turia River, this sprawling urban park is now one of Spain’s largest city parks, featuring walking and cycling paths, playgrounds, fountains, and iconic landmarks like the City of Arts and Sciences. Whether you’re looking for a scenic stroll, a relaxing picnic, or an active outdoor adventure, Turia Gardens offers a peaceful retreat in the middle of Valencia.


1. Scenic walking and cycling trails stretch across the park, passing through lush gardens, bridges, and open spaces perfect for outdoor activities.

2. The City of Arts and Sciences, an architectural marvel, sits at the eastern end of the park, offering stunning futuristic views and some of Valencia’s top attractions.

3. Gulliver Park, a unique playground featuring a giant sculpture of Gulliver from Gulliver’s Travels, is a favorite spot for families and children.

4. The Palau de la Música, a striking concert hall, is surrounded by fountains and shaded seating areas, making it a picturesque place to relax.

5. The former riverbed’s many historic bridges, such as the Puente del Mar and Puente de las Flores, provide a glimpse into Valencia’s past while offering beautiful viewpoints.

Visitor Tip: Rent a bike to explore the full length of the park, and visit in the late afternoon to enjoy cooler temperatures and golden-hour photography opportunities.

Turia Gardens

Australia

Kakadu National Park is half the size of Switzerland and a real adventure. If you rent a car, you could drive along the road for weeks, camping in different places and experiencing nature in a way you can't anywhere else.

After leaving Darwin in a rented 4x4 jeep, we made the long drive to Kakadu National Park. Take plenty of drinks and snacks with you, as there aren't many stops on the road. Along the way, we visited several refreshing waterholes and waterfalls, had an open-air barbecue, and saw many birds, snakes, anthills, and farmland along the way.

At night we mostly stayed at campsites that provided tents, and the beauty of the night is incomparable. You can hear, smell, and see countless species of animals, from alligators swimming in lakes at night to dingoes howling, to weirdly chirping insects.

We hiked to a hidden waterfall and discovered some hundreds-of-years-old wooden paintings done by the ancestors of Australia's indigenous people. A must-see in Australia for sure!

Camping: Kakadu National Park

The Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco) in Milan, originally built in the 15th century, is a formidable fortress that has evolved into a vibrant cultural hub. Located in the city’s historic center, this castle has witnessed centuries of Milanese history, from medieval conflicts to Renaissance glory. Why we recommend visiting:
1 - The castle houses several museums and art collections, including the Museo d’Arte Antica, which features Michelangelo’s last sculpture, the unfinished Rondanini Pietà. Stavros Niarchos Foundation

Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) nestled in the historic Plaza del Museo, is Andalusia's crown jewel and Spain's second most prestigious art museum after Madrid's Prado. Established within the walls of the former Merced Calzada Convent from the early 17th century, this museum showcases an unparalleled collection that spans from the Gothic era to the 20th century, with a special focus on the Sevillian school of the 17th century. We cannot recommend it enough - for these reasons:

2. Beyond its art, the museum itself, originally a monastery, is a masterpiece of Andalusian Mannerist style. Its structure, centered around three patios and connected by a grand staircase to the church, showcases the architectural legacy of Seville.
3. You can marvel at iconic works such as "The Annunciation" by Alejo Fernández, a seminal piece of the Sevillian Renaissance, and Zurbarán’s "Saint Hugh in the Refectory".
