You’ll begin in front of the Duomo, where the intricate gothic façade, soaring spires, and the golden Madonnina offer striking visual details — especially as the sun begins to set. From there, you’ll walk to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s oldest shopping arcades. This is a spiritual and immersive storytelling experience that invites you into the mystical world of Sufism through music, narrative and spirituality. Set in a traditional riad, the evening unfolds in three parts: a guided lecture, a live Sufi music ritual, and an intimate dinner. This is an experience designed for the curious and contemplative. A rare chance to witness Morocco’s spiritual heritage.

The session begins with a storytelling session inspired by the scholarly gatherings of Ben Youssef Madrasa. A trained and knowledgeable storyteller will introduce themes at the heart of Moroccan Sufism—divine love (Ishk al Ilahi), wisdom (Hikma), being (Wujud), and the interplay of perfection and imperfection.

Japan

This experience offers a full immersion in the world of washi — Japanese handmade paper — woven into Kyoto’s architecture, rituals and daily life. For over a 1000 years, this humble material has carried story, structure and spirit across generations. Kyoto has long been a center of washi artistry, supplying paper to temples, palaces and traditional arts.

You’ll begin in the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, where you’ll learn about plants that form the base of washi and how the fibers are transformed by hand. From there, Emilie will guide you to artisan studios, offering a close look at traditional techniques and the lived artistry behind them.

Later, you’ll step inside a historic noble residence, where washi-lined walls and shoji screens show how paper softens light and defines space in Japanese design. The walk ends in a curated selection of shops in Demachiyanagi offering handmade washi — a way to see the best in the craft today, and an invitation to take home a piece of enduring culture.

Washi may be everywhere in Kyoto, but without context, it’s easy to overlook. Emilie, a researcher of traditional crafts, helps you see what’s hidden in plain sight — how paper threads through rituals, interiors, and craftsmanship. A four-hour private guided experience through Kyoto with Emilie, including curated visits to washi-related sites. 

Where possible, you’ll walk between stops, as the city itself is part of the experience. Short taxi rides and any ticket or entry fees (if applicable) are covered.  

A stop for a drink and small snack is included, in a space where washi plays a role in either the interior design or presentation.

Scuola Grande di San Rocco

Experience the elegance of the Nani Bernardo Palace, designed by Architect Vittoria in 1550. Marvel at its harmonious aspect, enriched by a valuable hidden Venetian garden. Should Nani Bernardo be unavailable, the alternative stop is Ca' Rezzonico Palace, another marvel of Venetian architecture - or a similar equally stunning palace, specially selected by Lucia. 

This is a private palace that is accessible only by appointment and with the help of our connection with Lucia. 

Designed by Architect Vittoria, on commission from the Bernardo family, the Palace was built in 1550. 
Around 200 years ago, the current owner's ancestors added a new Italian garden to the palace, demolishing a series of houses on the side closest to the Grand Canal in the process and gave the Palazzo Nani Bernardo an entirely new, and harmonious aspect that is still evident today.

Another element is the really valuable back garden, very nice and extraordinarily extended in length, made during the eighteenth century. In case Nani Bernardo is booked out for a private event, we will replace this stop with Ca. Rezzonico Palace or an equally stunning palace.

Campo Santa Margherita serves as a vibrant community hub surrounded by historic buildings. This courtyard, evolving from a church front to a university auditorium, is alive with restaurants, bars, shops, and a weekday market, drawing locals, students, and vendors. It reflects the diverse community spirit, distanced from Venice's main tourist spots but accessible by foot due to the city's no-car rule. This is one of the last remaining boatyards of Venice. Typically hard to access since it's a working facility and tours are not provided without prior notice. It's also essential to have someone local to interpret the workings of the place for you. [Note: There are times when the Squero is closed for maintenance. In these instances, Lucia will ensure that you see the Squero from the outside and explain the workings in the best possible way.]

Alex and Rocío have been running tours along the U.S.–Mexico borderlands for many years, primarily as a way to share positive, accurate information about the region they call home. At first glance, a peka seems like such a simple accessory – a domed lid shaped like a dome. Food cooked under peka, be it in a fireproof pot under the coals or directly on a stone slab, is a hearty meat and vegetable dish. Usually veal, lamb, or yearling beef covered with potatoes and other vegetables. Learn how the olives and oils are produced, enjoy tastings and peka lunch.

Perched atop Mount Erice in Sicily, the Erice Castle, also known as the Castle of Venus, is a fortress steeped in myth and history. Erice Castle is accessible via a scenic cable car ride from Trapani or by road. The site is open to visitors throughout the year, with an entrance fee. It's recommended to check the opening hours before visiting as they can vary seasonally. As you make your way up the incline to the castle, be sure to stop at Gelateria Liparoti for a gelato! It with give you a boost of energy for the rest of your stay of sightseeing.

Misty Erice Castle

Naples, Italy, is home to the legendary Castel dell’Ovo, the city’s oldest standing fortress, dramatically set on the small island of Megaride in the Gulf of Naples. Dating back to the 12th century, this historic castle offers breathtaking sea views, mysterious ancient halls, and a rich blend of myth and history. According to legend, the poet Virgil placed a magical egg ("uovo") within its foundations, and the city's fate was believed to be tied to its survival. Today, the castle is a must-visit site, perfect for exploring Naples’ maritime past and capturing stunning photographs.


1. At the top of the fortress, panoramic terraces offer stunning views of the Bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, and the city skyline. The breathtaking scenery makes this a favorite spot for photography.

This being a ‘chill trip’, we did not want to hike 10 hours on a glacier. Instead we trek on the Vatnajokull glacier looking for ice caves with wind on our face and ice under our feet.

Earlier, we woke up at 7 and drive in cold and windy January to Skaftafell National Park to meet Einar, our guide. 

This cave... like others ... started forming In August but you are never sure it will be stable to explore till later. In September, the loose ceiling collapsed  and this brilliant cave was formed.

These fragile and transitory structure require constant maintenance from falling rock and melting icicles. Einer enters the cave and spots a few boulders on the roof. He removes them to prevent harm to the cave and us. 

As we move around, the cave looks different as our viewing angle and the sunlight outside changes.

We are in complete awe ... and hungry. Luckily a steaming meal of lamb and potatoes is close by.

Ice Caving

The Temple of Debod is an authentic ancient Egyptian temple nestled in the heart of Madrid. This architectural marvel, dating back to the 2nd century BC, was originally constructed in Egypt but now stands as a striking monument in Madrid's Parque del Oeste. The temple was a gift from Egypt to Spain in 1968, symbolizing gratitude for Spain's assistance in saving the Abu Simbel temples during the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Top 5 Things to know:
1. The Temple of Debod was initially built by the Kushite king Adikhalamani in Nubia, close to the religious center dedicated to the goddess Isis. It was dedicated to the Egyptian god Amun and later expanded and dedicated to Isis during the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
2. Throughout its history, the temple underwent several expansions and renovations. Prominent Roman emperors such as Augustus and Tiberius completed its decorations, adding to its historical and artistic significance.
3. In 1960, due to the Aswan High Dam's construction, UNESCO made an international call to save several historical monuments. As a token of gratitude for Spain's aid, Egypt gifted the Temple of Debod to Spain. It was meticulously dismantled, transported, and reconstructed in Madrid's Parque del Oeste, opening to the public in 1972.
4. The temple, surrounded by a pool of water, comprises three main reconstructed monuments. It retains its original stone-built enclosure wall, pylon gateways, and the sanctuary of Amun. The layout and decorations provide insight into ancient Egyptian religious practices and architectural styles.
5. The temple's continued exposure to the elements has been a subject of concern. In response, Madrid's city council decided in 2020 to accelerate plans to protect and preserve this unique historical monument.
This is a perfect place to see sunset from. Entry is free. Visits are capped at 30 minutes.
