You’ll explore the origins of photography and learn about wet plate collodion—a 19th-century technique that uses glass or metal plates, chemical baths, and a large format camera. Pierre will demonstrate each step while coating, sensitizing, exposing, and developing images.

Watching your portrait come to life is a striking visual moment: deep contrasts, delicate textures, and a vintage feel that’s hard to find elsewhere. While your image slowly appears, Pierre shares family stories and his personal view of Bordeaux and photography. If the light conditions are good, you can choose to shoot outdoors and include a glimpse of the city in your portrait.

Tucked inside a former 1920s textile factory in Colonia Doctores, Laguna is one of Mexico City’s most vibrant creative hubs — and one that few travelers even know exists. Renovated in 2018 by Mexican firm Productora, the building is now a hybrid urban factory, housing studios, galleries, showrooms, and cultural spaces — but from the street, you'd never guess what’s inside.

This experience introduces you to people who make Laguna's creative community and vision: artists, designers and producers. Historically, miniature paintings were adorned with gold to highlight figures, landscapes, and celestial elements, lending them a luminous, almost divine quality. Held at a studio in the Fatih District, this three-hour workshop allows participants to engage with this rare and luxurious technique under the guidance of master artist Şeyma Çınar.

During this session, you will learn the fundamentals of miniature painting, from traditional brushwork to layering vibrant pigments. You will also work with real gold leaf powder, mastering the delicate application techniques that add depth and brilliance to miniature art. While you take in the techniques you'll have a chance to chat with Şeyma over Turkish tea and snacks and learn about her artistic journey.

The host, Şeyma Çınar, is a master artist specializing in miniature art, Tezhip (Islamic illumination), and floral designs since 1998. With formal certification from Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, she has dedicated over 25 years to studying and teaching the intricate techniques of Ottoman miniature painting. Having participated in multiple exhibitions and published work on Islamic art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient craft. She will be accompanied by a translator, allowing everyone to fully engage with her insights and expertise.

Spain

La Madrugá is the most intense night of Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Seville. During the week leading to Easter, the city fills with processions organized by religious brotherhoods — traditions dating back to the 16th century.
Around midnight on Maundy Thursday into the early hours of Good Friday, Hermandad de la Macarena — founded in 1595 and one of the most revered brotherhoods — leaves its basilica and moves slowly through the city in a procession that lasts up to fourteen hours.

You witness the Virgen de la Esperanza — her 17th-century image with glass tears — carried beneath a canopy of candles. Trumpets sound, drums pulse, incense drifts through the streets. At times a saeta — a raw flamenco lament sung from a balcony — falls into the silence. This experience places you at street level at a few emblematic points in the passage of La Macarena through Seville. With a knowledgeable local Seville guide, you’re in the flow of the procession — at close range to the nazarenos and pasos.

 For many, La Macarena is a symbol of Seville itself, generations have brought their prayers, fears and hopes to her. She is worshipped as the protector of bullfighters, recipient of emerald brooches, and bearer of three mantles worn in succession. Her float advances at the pace of the men beneath it, their feet visible below draped velvet.

You’re positioned close by and sometimes within the procession as you cross from one point to another, and experiencing its rhythm. Without context, much of what happens can feel overwhelming or opaque. Your guide is a member of a local brotherhood who knows Semana Santa inside out. He talks about the hermandad, nazarenos, and costaleros carrying multi-ton pasos. Without his direction, you’d likely just stand in one place, but he is able to navigate and position you in a way that allows you to truly experience the procession. 

This is participation in Seville’s most charged public expression of faith — ideal when combined with balcony viewing.

Ana Isabel Ramos is a designer, illustrator, artist, and children’s book author living in Lisbon, Portugal. A native of this city, Ana has made Lisbon her home after living on three different continents. Having first-hand experience of being a foreigner when living abroad, Ana knows how long it can take to get to know a new place and believes sketching is a shortcut to it.

She has been sketching all her life and as a daily practice since the beginning of 2021. This consistent routine has helped change her relationship with time and space. She believes sketching slows everything down and affords a different connection with the people around us and the place we’re at.

When she’s not taking you to the best spots in Lisbon to sketch, she works with women to help them connect to their inner wisdom and creativity to get clarity and live life more fully, embracing their artistic side. In 2024, she published her first children’s book “Livro do Não”, which she illustrated with embroidery.

Follow Emanuele, a professional photographer, through Milan’s most iconic landmarks and learn how to capture their essence with your lens. You’ll begin in front of the Duomo, where the intricate gothic façade, soaring spires, and the golden Madonnina offer striking visual details — especially as the sun begins to set. Emanuele will guide you in playing with angles, framing, and exposure to elevate your shots beyond postcards.

From there, you’ll walk to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s oldest shopping arcades. Under the soaring glass dome, you’ll explore reflections, shadows, and the elegance of symmetry among mosaics and ironwork.
