This hands-on craft experience is hosted a kintsugi artisan, Satoko, who has been teaching the art and philosophy of this traditional Japanese technique in Kyoto for several years.

The workshop begins with a relaxing tea time, during which you'll be able to get to know your host and learn about her background in kintsugi. From there, you'll learn the history and aesthetics of kintsugi while handling finished pieces created by your host. As you admire the gold-lined cracks, Satoko will walk you through each step of the process and introduce the traditional tools and materials you’ll use — including some that you’ll prepare by hand.

Then, it’s time to practice. You’ll repair a broken ceramic piece using lacquer and real gold powder — that draws the eye to the details. Throughout the session, your hosts offer individual guidance to ensure your piece becomes a personal and beautiful expression of this philosophy.

Set in a private room in a Kyoto restaurant, this experience is completely private for you to enjoy the traditional kintsugi process. Your host has extensive experience as a kintsugi artisan and is a dedicated teacher who has introduced international guests to kintsugi through years of patient, thoughtful instruction.

Satoko emphasizes traditional kintsugi — using natural urushi lacquer, patient curing times, and deliberate methods rather than shortcuts — to offer students an authentic, slow, and deeply rewarding experience. Explore the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, one of Lisbon’s most important cultural institutions, with an art historian. Argentina

This special experience takes you off the beaten path into the world of a truly local family in Lunlunta, Mendoza. For over 30 years, Juan Marcos Juricich — a softly spoken agronomist and beekeeper — has lived and worked on this small finca with his children, who now help him run the place. Upon arrival, you'll explore the estate with Federico, the youngest son and a winemaker who produces organic wine from grapes lovingly grown on the family plot. You'll sample his latest blends fresh from the tanks and, if you like what you taste, you can even bottle your own wine to take home. 

Through Federico, you will learn about Juan's storied beekeeping and organic honey production methods. There is a chance to try the honey and, depending on the season, hold the hives. To wrap up the experience, Federico will fire up the parrilla for a home-cooked asado, served under the trees with laughter, stories, and wine. This is not a show. It’s a slice of Mendoza life — shared the way it’s always been.

This experience brings you into a real working farm and the home of a family who live off the land, producing wine and honey. This experience is ideal for anyone curious about the enduring Zapotec people—a culture and community whose roots in Oaxaca stretch back more than 2,500 years.

It begins at a 16th-century church built by Dominican monks, where Spanish colonial design merges with indigenous iconography. You’ll learn the history of the structure, admire the intricate hand-painted details made with natural dyes, and climb an ancient staircase to a 17th-century organ that’s still played during church services.

Next, you’ll visit the home of a local family who cultivate eggs, flowers and organic vegetables and preserve the local Zapotec dialect. Here, you’ll learn about the history of this indigenous language, with a short lesson by a professional language professor, and enjoy a home cooked meal made with ingredients from their organic farm. They’ll explain the government system of 'usos y costumbres’, whereby indigenous people are able to regulate the life of the community.

remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”
What João wants travelers to experience is that same connection: the gestures and flavors that tie people to place. “We still recognize these things—the tradition of fishing, the dry fruits, the rituals of picking and preparing. This is what I want travelers to connect with.”

Dating back to the 13th century, this charming district is a maze of narrow cobbled streets, medieval archways, and beautifully aged buildings, making it a must-visit for history lovers. As the heart of ancient Cádiz, El Pópulo is home to key landmarks, lively plazas, and hidden local gems that reflect the city’s rich maritime heritage and Andalusian character.

1. At the entrance, the three medieval arches—Arco de la Rosa, Arco del Pópulo, and Arco de los Blancos—serve as remnants of the old city walls and transport visitors back in time.

2. The Cádiz Cathedral, an iconic landmark with its stunning golden dome and Baroque-Neoclassical design, dominates the district and offers breathtaking views from its bell tower.

El Pópulo District

Jamaica

1942: Errol Flynn popularised rafting down the river Rio Grande in Jamaica on bamboo rafts, made of long logs bound together. Fast forward: I'm on a raft for a 3-hour ride and sensory overload: ferns, birds, rapids, butterflies, serenading raft captain. But here’s my favorite part —

After an hour on the river, we dock at Belinda’s Riverside Restaurant, a rustic gem nestled by the Rio Grande. How does this place even exist in the middle of nowhere? Turns out Belinda and team hike a couple of hours across the hills, ingredients in tow, to set up shop each time, serving up Jamaican-style curry goat and fish (take your pick: fried, steamed, or escoveitched). Prepared with love and served alongside rice or bammy. One of my best meals in Jamaica. Call ahead to make sure Belinda’s is open on the day you visit.

Curry Goat by the River

The Vasari Corridor, an elevated kilometer-long passageway, is a symbol of the Medici family's influence in Renaissance Florence. Commissioned by Cosimo de' Medici in 1565, this corridor connects the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace, offering a unique journey through Florence's history, art, and architecture. Top 5 reasons to take this stroll:
1 - Designed by Giorgio Vasari, the corridor was constructed to allow the Medici family to move freely and safely between their residence in Palazzo Pitti and the government headquarters in Palazzo Vecchio. This architectural marvel, completed in just five months, includes small windows overlooking the streets and the Arno River. 

2 - As you walk through the corridor, you are surrounded by an exquisite collection of artwork, mainly from the 16th and 17th centuries, including a unique collection of artists' self-portraits. This collection, one of the most complete in Europe, was started by Cardinal Leopoldo de' Medici in the 17th century. 

3 - The corridor has witnessed both tragic and triumphant moments in Florence's history.
