This 3.5-hour photography experience takes place in two of the most beautiful and culturally rich neighborhoods in Buenos Aires: La Boca and San Telmo. Led by a professional travel photographer from Buenos Aires, you will explore these streets with your own camera and learn how to capture the kinds of imagery usually seen in guidebooks and brochures.  Bernardo will steer you past iconic sights and down hidden passageways, illuminating architectural features easily spotted by the typical traveler. You will also fall into the natural rhythm of these bohemian districts and hear about the people who have shaped their development over the centuries.

The experience is designed for beginner photographers through to those with an existing knowledge of photography. It is best experienced with a DSLR or mirrorless camera however cell phones are also welcome. Tripods are not necessary although carrying a variety of lenses is a bonus.

This photographic experience is designed to introduce you to the most bohemian, visually enticing, and culturally stimulating neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Rather than a standard walking tour, you will explore La Boca and San Telmo from the perspective of a professional photographer, an artist, and a Porteño local. Bernardo will guide you along La Caminito—the “Little Street” also referred to as an open-air street museum—where you will be immersed in the area’s vibrant history of tango and street art. From behind the lens, you will trace (and capture) the contrasts between these colorful tenement residences and modern structures.

You will also explore the bustling market which has stood in San Telmo since the late 19th century and pass by one of the oldest churches in Buenos Aires and the city’s narrowest house. Greece

This historical walk traces Thessaloniki’s development from antiquity through Byzantine and Ottoman periods, using its religious and civic architecture. You begin at Trigoniou Tower, along the northern walls, where the city’s layered geography is visible from above. Then you follow the line of Byzantine fortifications toward the Monastery of Vlatadon, traditionally linked to the presence of Saint Paul.

The route then descends into the historic city. You visit the small church of Hosios David, known for Christian mosaics, before passing the Ottoman Alatza Imaret and continuing to the Church of Saint Demetrios, Thessaloniki’s most important Byzantine monument. 

From there, the walk continues through the Roman Forum and the Rotunda, originally built as a Roman monument and later adapted for Christian worship. A short pause for coffee marks the transition from the upper city to the modern center. The walk goes past Arch of Galerius, Navarinou Square, and statue of Alexander the Great.

This experience focuses on Thessaloniki’s Jewish heritage, once one of the largest and most influential Jewish communities in Europe. For centuries, Jewish life shaped the city’s identity, with tens of thousands of residents forming a vital presence woven into civic, economic, and cultural life. This community was almost entirely eradicated during the Second World War, when more than 90 percent of Thessaloniki’s Jewish population was deported and murdered.

The absence left behind is still palpable and lives on in the city’s memory. Walking these streets, you encounter not only architecture, but the traces of a people whose presence defined Thessaloniki for centuries and whose disappearance altered the city permanently.

Mexico

This is a rare opportunity to learn about the ancient cultural significance and rich history of candle making in an Indigenous Zapotec community. You'll experience the creative process of a master artisan who is at the heart of reviving this traditional art form in this community. 

You'll learn how these intricate works are made and even try your hand at beeswax flower making. A short overview of natural dyes used in their process will also be included, with a special focus on cochineal—once among the most valuable trade commodities for the Spanish, next only to silver and gold. You'll also discover how these candles have long played a key role in marriage proposals and other local traditions in this village.

Afterward, you'll visit the town church to see the ceremonial candles in situ, followed by a traditional lunch in another town that is famous for their giant tree, which is said to be the widest in the world. 

Maestra Viviana Alávez has been producing handmade candles for over 70 years. You’ll meet this inspiring woman, descended from a long line of artisans who have been creating custom works for more than three centuries. She and her family—spanning three generations—work with Mexican beeswax, natural dyes, and the same techniques their ancestors used.

No other community in Oaxaca incorporates the tradition of elaborate marriage proposals with candles like this pueblo. In speaking with Maestra Viviana, you’ll gain insight into the realities faced by women of her era in this community, hear about her challenges and triumphs, and understand how both the local culture and her own life have evolved. By supporting this artisan and her family, you’re also helping to preserve a living legacy.

Your set meal will be a continuation of local culture at a sublime choice for traditional fare in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, which will include one mezcal or one beer person, for those who wish.

Through all of her projects—including Hecho, a marketplace of artisan-made goods from natural materials—Ehren maintains an active focus on supporting Mexican ancestral traditions through handmade product development, including textiles, pottery, homewares, and other works. Explore the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, one of Lisbon’s most important cultural institutions, with an art historian. This captivating seasonal walking tour in the Algarve's Barrocal region showcases the spectacular wild orchids that flourish here. Portugal boasts around 70 orchid species, with a significant variety found in this region, known for its botanical diversity and ecological significance.

This curated half-day tour begins at the edges of Arashiyama, away from the crowds, in a moss-covered temple filled with 1,200 small stone figures. Each has a different expression — some joyful, some quietly watching. They were carved by ordinary people under the guidance of a Buddhist sculptor. Your guide will share how this once-forgotten temple became a place of devotion and playfulness.

You’ll visit Giōji Temple, a quiet sanctuary tied to the Heike Monogatari, where a once-famous dancer became a nun. The moss garden and bamboo groves here feel like a story being slowly told.

From there, you walk through the preserved district of Saga Toriimoto, where Meiji-era townhouses now hold small family-run craft shops. You’ll visit two: a papermaker using mulberry bark and centuries-old techniques and an indigo-dyeing store.

The tour ends with a light lunch in a lovely renovated traditional house away from the typical crowds of the Arashiyama area.

DAY 11 – KALAMATA TO PYLOS | You continue along the Messinian coast, stopping at Koroni and Methoni to explore their seaside fortresses. By late afternoon, you reach Pylos, overlooking the calm waters of Navarino Bay.
DAY 12 – PYLOS TO OLYMPIA | The route turns inland again, trading coastline for rolling countryside. Arrival in Olympia around midday allows time to orient yourself before a quieter evening.
DAY 13 – OLYMPIA TO NEMEA | A scenic drive crosses Arcadia’s mountainous interior, with stops in Dimitsana and Stemnitsa revealing stone village life. By evening, vineyards replace mountain roads as you arrive in Nemea.

Stintino, a small fishing village in northwest Sardinia, is home to La Pelosa Beach, often regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. Known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and powdery white sand, La Pelosa is a paradise for beach lovers and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Sardinia. With its iconic views of the Torre della Pelosa, a 16th-century watchtower, and the dramatic backdrop of Asinara Island, this area combines natural beauty with historical charm. 
1. The turquoise waters of La Pelosa Beach are so clear they resemble a tropical lagoon, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply admiring the view. 
2. The fine white sand of the beach is incredibly soft and contrasts beautifully with the vibrant blue sea. 
3. The Torre della Pelosa, a historic watchtower visible from the beach, adds a picturesque and cultural touch to this natural paradise. 
4. Stintino village, with its charming harbor, seafood restaurants, and laid-back atmosphere, is the perfect place to enjoy Sardinian cuisine and coastal vibes. 
5. The nearby Asinara National Park, accessible by boat, offers hiking, snorkeling, and the chance to see wildlife like albino donkeys, making it a great complement to your beach day. 
Visitor Tip: Plan to spend half a day to a full day at La Pelosa Beach. Due to its popularity, access is limited during peak months, and visitors must book online and bring a beach mat to protect the delicate sand. Arrive early to secure your spot, especially in summer.

Jamaica

A Black River Safari took us into the heart of the largest freshwater wetland ecosystem in Jamaica, the Great Morass at the Black River. This area, spanning 125 square miles, is a haven for biodiversity, featuring giant mangrove trees and an array of swamp animals, including the endangered American crocodile, protected under the Wildlife Protection Act in Jamaica. 

The guides spotted crocodiles of various sizes in the water and along the riverbanks, including baby crocodiles. Also several bird species call this area home. As we glided along the river, we saw snowy egrets, great egrets, and great blue herons, among other bird species.

The River teems with mangrove trees, ferns, and water lilies. The mangroves are particularly noteworthy, with some species having roots extending 40 feet downward. A curious aspect of the Black River is its dark color, which becomes more noticeable as you move upstream. This is due to the peat soil at the bottom of the river, which, despite giving the river its dark appearance, keeps the water clear. 

If you're interested in learning more about the crocodiles, many tours conclude with a visit to the Crocodile Nursery, where young and injured crocodiles are cared for until they are ready to return to the wild.

Mangroves + Crocodiles

The Man Who Built the Coolest Bar in the World. That would be a Jamaican fisherman from Saint Elizabeth called Floyd who thought it would be nice to have a place where he and his buddies could hang out to and from their fishing ventures. He built the bar on a sandbar a mile off the coast in Parottee Bay out of driftwood (the wood was restored after Hurricane Ivan in 2004). In between dips in the turquoise water, you can sip a Red Stripe, eat freshly grilled snapper and play dominoes. Or catch up with Floyd at the bar. Someday, I’d like to watch the sunset from there.

What does the southern end of the world look like? After five and a half l-o-n-g hours from Punta Arenas, out of the blue appears Hotel Explora Salto Chico - and it’s breathtaking. With a stunning, modern countenance, views-to-die-for of Torres del Paine (the Towers) and Cuernos del Paine (the Horns), and the sound of the Salto Chico waterfall as we linger over amazing food and excellent Chilean wine.

The Explora guides ensure they get us out of bed. My favorite experience - a day-long hike to Grey glacier. And when we get really close, our guides hop into a little boat to fetch thousand-year-old ice from the glacier for little drinks of Pisco Sour! 

Patagonia’s Parc Nacional Torres del Paine has picture postcard views everywhere. If you are a keen hiker, try the Circuit or the W. I stick to day hikes as a rule - if you are like me, try Grey Glacier, French Valley Glacier or Base of the Paine Towers.

Going to Extremes

Rome's Trevi Fountain, a jewel of Baroque artistry, is a symbol of the city's rich history and artistic heritage. Alongside the famous above-ground structure, the lesser-known underground passages offer a unique glimpse into the ancient aqueducts that have supplied the fountain for centuries.
