Back at her studio, you’ll taste three distinct mezcals from Guerrero, each carefully selected by Andrea. As you sip, she shares the cultural context behind each variety — from the agave species to traditional distillation methods. You’ll learn how to “kiss” the mezcal, as Spanish speakers say — a slow, attentive tasting style that reveals each glass’s unique character. Andrea is an anthropologist by training, Master Mezcalier by trade, and a singer. She has fifteen years of experience promoting Guerrero State's mezcal culture and traditions, an area not typically associated with mezcal, but with plenty of flavors that are a joy to discover.

Andrea's own work in mezcal emerged from an extensive family history, where numerous memories and experiences have been intrinsically linked to the enjoyment of this spirit, always accompanied by good food and music. Since 2010, Andrea has been an integral part of the new narrative being woven around mezcal from Guerrero, actively contributing to its recognition and appreciation both nationally and internationally. 

Andrea's knowledge encompasses not only the specific culture of Guerrero, but extends to the diverse traditions that exist throughout the length and breadth of Mexico. She is certified as a Master Mezcalier and as a Leader in Food and Beverage Sensory Evaluation.

Argentina

This 4-hour walking tour in Buenos Aires focuses on three of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods: Recoleta, Retiro, and San Telmo. While renowned landmarks shape the route, it’s the quiet treasures only locals know that form the heart of this experience. This experience explores Didyma after dark, when the Temple of Apollo opens for night museum hours and the site is illuminated. Departing from Izmir (or Kuşadası) or Bodrum around 16:30, you travel by private vehicle for 90 min to Didim for an early dinner — simple dishes timed to fit the schedule — while your host frames the myths and history you’re about to see. 

From 19:30–21:30, you’ll enter the sanctuary and walk through one of antiquity’s most imposing Ionic temples which Strabo, the Ancient Greek geographer once described as a “temple within a forest of columns.” 

Hatice — a licensed guide, storyteller and culture expert — walks you through the colossal Ionic plan, the unfinished cella enclosure, the Medusa reliefs, column drums and bases and the Sacred Way that once linked Didyma to Miletus. You’ll begin with a short introduction to Amal’s mission—supporting women from vulnerable backgrounds by training them in the culinary arts. Some recipes are cooked over charcoal, using bellows to control the flame—an immersive detail that reflects Morocco’s culinary heritage.

Hiking Trail from Fira to Oia

Fez, Morocco, is home to the Bou Inania Madrasa, one of the most stunning examples of Marinid-era Islamic architecture. Built in the 14th century by Sultan Abu Inan Faris, this madrasa (Islamic school) served as both a center of learning and a place of worship. Unlike many religious sites in Morocco, Bou Inania is one of the few madrasas open to non-Muslim visitors, allowing them to admire its breathtaking zellij tilework, intricate wood carvings, and grand courtyard. A masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship, the madrasa is a must-visit for those interested in history, architecture, and photography.

1. The grand entrance, framed by an elaborately carved cedarwood door, welcomes visitors into a world of geometric patterns, Arabic calligraphy, and fine stucco work.

2. The courtyard, with its marble floors, central fountain, and exquisite zellij tile mosaics, is a striking example of Moroccan-Andalusian design and a perfect spot for photography.

There are so many museums and art galleries in Paris that it's hard to decide where to go first. Most tourists want to stand in line at the Louvre, admire Claude Monet, or visit the National Museum of Art – but as so few check out the famous street art of Paris, we knew it was our thing to do.
There is so much history behind each piece of art or painting out there that it is worth investing some extra money and time to immerse yourself in Paris's artistic exploration fully. We did a whole self-organized art walk visiting 7 streets, with an audio tour, and visited the different places on our own (though you can get a personal guide). 
Our highlight was Rue Saint-Maur – a 2km-long street painted mainly by the artist Kashink. The artist plays with classic elements of Parisian street art and combines them with modern political messages.

Colombia

Casa Pilatos is one of our favorite places in Seville. Nestled in the historic Santa Cruz district, it’s a paragon of Andalusian architecture, blending Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance styles into a stunning palatial residence. It’s a 16th-century edifice that serves as a living museum, showcasing the grandeur of Sevillian nobility. Today, it remains a semi-private residence, partly inhabited by the 18th Duchess of Medinaceli and her family. Here are the Top things to check out:
1. Enter through a Renaissance-style marble gate to discover a courtyard adorned with a collection of busts from Roman emperors to Spanish kings, set against the backdrop of exquisite azulejo tiles. The palace's architectural fusion is evident in every corner, from its ornate Gothic Mudejar style to Italian Renaissance innovations​​.
2. The Praetor’s Room stands as the palace's heart, echoing Pilate's Palace in Jerusalem with its detailed coffered ceiling and intricate stucco carved arches, enveloping visitors in a tapestry of historical and aesthetic grandeur​​.

The Staircase to the Heavens: Known as "Seville's first and most magnificent staircase," this architectural gem features azulejo tiling, a Mudéjar honeycomb ceiling, and leads to the more private quarters of the palace. We arrive by RIB boat from Longyearbyen, dressed in survival suits, across a choppy Arctic Sea, with puffins and seals for company.

Isfjord Radio on Cape Linné, is an abandoned strategic communications station, with a decidedly interesting past, now converted into a stylish expedition lodge. 

Nothing could have prepared me for the extreme sense of isolation and wilderness. 

Imagine sitting all alone at latitude 79 degrees north and watching polar bears prowling outside the kitchen window. Two days ago, that is exactly what the staff at Isfjord Radio did.  After all, Svalbard’s travel slogan reads: “3000 polar bears, 2500 humans”. 

Hiking into the middle of nowhere, or along the coast looking for 1500-kilo walruses, is done with licensed guides, a couple of mandatory rifles for protection and huskies for company. It is a beautiful, stark landscape, filled with mystery and a sense of the unknown. 

Which direction should we head? Anywhere you want to go, comes the reply.

Extreme Wilderness

Naples, Italy, is home to the extraordinary Sansevero Chapel, a hidden gem of Baroque art and mystery, located in the heart of the historic center. This small yet breathtaking chapel is most famous for the Veiled Christ, a marble masterpiece by Giuseppe Sanmartino that astounds visitors with its delicate, lifelike depiction of Christ covered in a translucent shroud. Veiled Christ

Nestled in the Atlas Mountains, Ouzoud Waterfalls is one of Morocco’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Plunging over 100 meters into a lush canyon, these multi-tiered falls create a stunning contrast between the red rock cliffs, green olive groves, and the misty waters below. A favorite destination for nature lovers and photographers, Ouzoud offers scenic hiking trails, boat rides, and the chance to spot playful Barbary macaques. Whether you're looking for adventure or relaxation, this spectacular waterfall is a must-visit.

1. A hiking trail to the base of the falls winds through olive groves and offers breathtaking viewpoints, making it a rewarding trek with stunning photo opportunities.

Ouzoud Waterfalls

This is a Gothic-Renaissance palace that once served as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa. Today, it houses a museum displaying artifacts from Dubrovnik's history​​. Originally erected in the 15th century, this historical edifice has weathered disasters including explosions, fires, and earthquakes, notably being rebuilt after significant damages in 1435, 1463, and the devastating 1667 earthquake. Why visit:
  
1: Governance Core. Get into the heart of Dubrovnik's historical governance by exploring the Rector's office, administrative and council halls, and the courtroom. These spaces, preserved with their original grandeur, offer insights into the administrative mechanisms of the Dubrovnik Republic.

2: Within the atrium stands the monument to Miho Pracat, crafted by Piero Paolo Giacometti in 1638, honoring the revered sea captain and benefactor. As the only commoner bestowed with such an honor by the Republic, Pracat's legacy highlights the community's appreciation for civic contributions and philanthropy.
 
3: Musical Heritage. The palace's interior atrium and courtyard, celebrated for their Corinthian columns and the Baroque staircase added after the 1667 earthquake, become a stage for classical music concerts during the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. 4: The Cultural History Museum housed within the palace walls showcases Dubrovnik's historical and cultural heritage through an extensive collection of artefacts, including period furniture, portraits, coins, and items from the 15th-century pharmacy "Domus Christi".

The Jewel: Rector's Palace

Nestled along the Kızılırmak River, Avanos is a charming town known for its long history of pottery-making and vibrant local culture.

Avanos Town

Love Valley, one of Cappadocia’s most iconic landscapes, invites visitors to marvel at its otherworldly rock formations shaped by centuries of erosion. Known for its serene trails and photogenic vistas, the valley offers a peaceful retreat into nature and a unique window into the region’s geological history.

Love Valley Hike

Pyrgos is a trendy hilltop medieval village. It’s full of little winding, narrow streets constructed haphazardly on the hills alongside multi-colored houses and doors. We lose our way several times and keep looping back to the same point .. using that as an excuse to check out yet another local art gallery constructed unobtrusively into the hillside. 

During the 15th and 16th century, the locals defended themselves from pirates by erecting kastelias .. fortified buildings. Pyrgos has the best example of these medieval buildings on the island. It also has the oldest churches.

We stop at a home with a large blue door .. and the views are stunning but give an impression that Santorini is flat and covered by vineyards instead of being a caldera. 

The one fascinating feature of homes here is a long, deep chimney for ventilation. And the strong winds make howling noises through the chimneys.

In Pyrgos, we visited vineyards ... but that’s a different story.

Old Blue Doors

Moda, a charming neighborhood in Kadıköy on Istanbul’s Asian side, offers a refreshing escape from the city’s bustling European quarter. Known for its bohemian vibe and laid-back ambiance, Moda is the perfect spot for leisurely seaside strolls, sipping coffee in trendy cafes, and soaking in the local culture. Accessible by ferry, this vibrant area combines stunning waterfront views with a creative, artsy spirit that’s irresistible to locals and visitors alike.

1. Seaside Promenade: Wander along Moda’s picturesque waterfront, where lush parks and pathways invite you to relax with views of the Marmara Sea. Sunset is especially magical, with hues of gold and pink lighting up the horizon.

5. Quaint Streets and Boutiques: Explore Moda’s tree-lined streets, where quirky boutiques and bookstores offer unique finds and a glimpse into the neighborhood’s eclectic character.

Visitor Tip: Take the ferry from Karaköy or Eminönü for a scenic ride to Kadıköy. Moda’s vibe is best experienced on foot, so plan for a leisurely day of walking and exploring!
