Guided by passionate fisherman Andrea Rossi, this journey is designed to immerse you in the natural wonders of the lagoon in just three hours. 

As you set sail from Burano, let the peaceful canals of the island of Torcello take your breath away. Then, delve into the lagoon's tranquil sandbanks, where Andrea will unveil the secrets of the lagoon's diverse bird species, and the aromatic plants that have been used in Venetian cuisine for centuries and are still employed by contemporary Venetian chefs to create unique dishes and liqueurs.  You will have plenty of opportunities for photos and foraging. At the end of the tour, Andrea will drop you off near the Burano traghetto stop. This tour is perfect for nature and photography enthusiasts, and those seeking a short yet immersive exploration of the Venetian lagoon, far from the madding crowds. 

From Venice to Burano, it's a 20-25 minute ride by private water taxi (can be booked via your hotel) or a 45 minute ride on the public vaporetto (runs from 5 AM onwards, check exact time with hotel).

You'll discover the flora and fauna of the Venetian lagoon by following unique itineraries known only to local fishermen, far from the typical tourist routes. Along the way, you'll find plenty of photo opportunities, with stops for foraging, a chance to observe the differences in various species of clams, and the possibility of seeing pink flamingos and other birds. Morocco

This is a scenic day hike across the Kik Plateau, perched at approximately 1,800 meters in the High Atlas Mountains. The trek offers sweeping views over terraced farmland, Lake Takerkoust, and distant peaks, including Mount Toubkal. 

Starting from Asni, the route winds through traditional Berber villages built from earth and stone, where daily life continues much as it has for generations. Along the way, you’ll stop for tea with a local family and enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the plateau, surrounded by olive groves and open sky.

This hike is ideal for those who’ve already seen the classic Atlas mountain routes and want to explore the landscape further while engaging with the local communities. 

The walk takes 5-6 hours with stops and is best done in spring or autumn, when the plateau is green and the light is sharp. Though not technically difficult, there are some steady inclines and exposed terrain, so good walking shoes and sun protection are recommended.

The Kik Plateau offers an expansive, open landscape that contrasts with the steeper, more rugged trails of the central High Atlas. Its distinctive limestone outcroppings and gently undulating terrain give you a different kind of hiking experience—one defined by wide horizons and silence. From the plateau, you can take in panoramic views that stretch across the Haouz plains, Lake Takerkoust and the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas.

You’ll walk through traditional Berber villages where adobe homes blend into the hillsides, and farming continues as it has for generations. Because the area sees fewer visitors than other Atlas trails, you’ll engage more directly with both the landscape and the people who live here. Sand, Salt & Stars in Atacama

Finland

At Riisitunturi National Park, ancient trees enveloped in layers of sticky snow (called ‘tykky’ in Finnish) assume fantastical shapes of monsters, ghosts, birds and families of snow people. On days like this, when sunrise and sunset happen within a two-hour window, backgrounds are brushed in pinks and yellows, and foregrounds etched with tracks of reindeer, dogs and humans. 

Snow is something more than frozen water to the Sami people. It’s a way of expressing the basis of their existence.

Best time to visit? Late December to March. Getting there from Rovaniemi takes more than 2 hours each way, but the trails are easy - we did a 4 km.
