This experience is a private tour of Galería Artkinson, one of Valparaíso's most intriguing independent galleries focused on urban art and contemporary expression. Named for its proximity to the beloved Paseo Artkinson walkway, the gallery is co-managed by a quintet of local artists each with their own specialty across painting, engraving, sculpture, and jewelry craft. Each artist has a different style which makes for one of the most eclectic experiences in Chile's Capital of Culture.

This private viewing experience is hosted by one of the five artists. It consists of an in-depth description of the original works showcased in the gallery and the studio, where you'll learn about the different materials, symbols, and ideas behind each piece. You will also learn how the work of the Galería Artkinson collective fits in with the wider identity of Valparaíso's urban art landscape. The experience includes one Pisco Sour or glass of Chilean wine during the art tour.

This is a rare opportunity to explore every nook and cranny of an independent gallery staffed by the very artists whose sculptures, paintings, prints, and jewelry hang on the walls. The gallery is co-managed by five local artists each working within their own medium. Through graffiti art, wood engraving, painting, and beyond, this gallery characterizes the sense of community and collaboration which lies at the heart of Valparaíso's modern art scene. As the tour is guided by one of the five artists, they can delve deeper into the themes addressed in the exhibition. All products exhibited in the gallery are made by this collective—from the labels to the original works listed for sale. This private viewing of Galeria Artkinson is hosted by one of the five resident artists who collaborate in the studio. Moro "Newenki" Pichilaf specializes in wood engraving, stencil art, and painting alongside mural art with fellow graffiti artists Don Peluca and Cuellimangui. Fernanda González works with plasticine installations whereas Klaus Tordo is a master at metal engraving and the botanical practice of Kokedama.

The host of the experience depends on the date booked. In most cases, you will meet at least one further resident artist during the visit besides the host artist. 

This is a full-day photography journey to the high Andean salt flats on the Chilean Altiplano. Located in the northeastern corner of the Atacama Desert near the border with Bolivia, Quepiaco, Quisquiro, and Tara are among the most visually striking and ecologically unique landscapes in the region. These salt flats—salars—sit at elevations between 4,000-4,500m (13,000-14,800 feet) above sea level and are part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve. Bounded by volcanoes and inhabited by flamingos and vicuñas, this is a remarkable setting for both landscape and wildlife photography.

At each salt flat, Mirko will explain the geological features of the wetlands and salt crusts, point out native wildlife, and provide practical instruction on how to photograph it. Because of the high elevation, this tour is best scheduled for your third day or later in San Pedro de Atacama, after you’ve had time to acclimatize.

This experience starts with a thrilling drive through the Martian landscapes of the Atacama Desert. This is a prime opportunity for quizzing Mirko about the region: it's natural history, its cultural legacy, and its wildlife. Salar de Quepiaco, Salar de Quisquiro, and Salar de Tara straddle the border between Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina. They provide a habitat for all three species of South American flamingos (Andean, Chilean, and James’s) as well as llamas, vicuñas, and Andean foxes. As part of the Andean Plateau (Altiplano), these salt flats hold cultural significance for Indigenous Atacameño communities. 

Mirko's experience contextualises the natural and cultural significance of the region. This two-hour experience takes place in the studio of celebrated tango dancer and choreographer Gisela Vidal. Through a private workshop, you’ll explore the fundamentals of tango—from musicality and posture to the nonverbal connection between lead and follow. Gisela’s approach makes space for both technique and emotion.

After dancing, you’ll sit with Gisela over mate (herbal infusion) or wine to reflect on tango’s evolution, her global career and the emotional qualities that make tango a living art. The final part of the experience offers a window into Gisela’s creative practice as a jewelry designer. You’ll explore how tango’s gestures, shapes, and symbolism have influenced her tango-inspired jewelry—shaped by the same rhythm, elegance and emotional nuance she brings to her dance. She’ll share how her designs emerged from her years on stage as a creative response to the movement and symbolism of tango. Each guest receives a small pin designed by Gisela to mark the moment.

Gisela’s work is rooted in the idea that tango is a cultural ritual, a way of connecting across language, background and time. Her teaching is intuitive, expressive and always personal. Through carefully structured exercises and improvised practice, she helps each student find their own rhythm and presence. In this extended version of her private class, Gisela’s instruction helps you find your rhythm and presence, then opens space for personal expression through movement. After the workshop, you’ll share mate or wine in an intimate setting, where Gisela expands on how tango has shaped her creative journey. Growing up in Buenos Aires, Gisela Vidal danced her first tango at the age of 14. From there, she trained extensively in Tango Salon and Tango Stage style with the finest Argentinian Masters. Besides tango, Gisela has studied contemporary dance, jazz, belly dance, ballet, Argentine folk, and salsa. She has undertaken further tuition in theater and film acting, mime and clown art, and singing.

Gisela has participated in international tango festivals and major events including the opening of the Dakar 2009 in Buenos Aires. She was the choreographer and a stunt dancer for the Tango Infedele Video Clip.

During her 20-year career, Gisela has danced and coached in over 40 countries. She co-managed a tango school in Milan and coordinated the Tango Querido School in Tuscany. She launched her own jewelry business in 2018.

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

Technopolis City of Athens

This is the view of The Red City, Marrakech’s medina from the panoramic terrace of Maison de la Photographie.

The museum of photographs is fascinating in how it came about – two famous photographers, Patrick Menac’h and Hamid Mergani, brought together their common passion for vintage Moroccan photography, and pooled their photos for the public to admire. Here I realize how black-and-white photos can dramatize the light-and-shadow effects in the medina.

From the terrace, you can have a glass of mint tea, and wonder about the thousands of satellite dishes that dominate the view. 

It’s peaceful here. On a clear day, you can see the snow-clad High Atlas Mountains. But you can’t see the chaos of Djemaa el-Fna, or hear shouts of ‘Balek!’ whenever donkey-carts come through laden with heavy goods. You can’t see the ‘hand of Fatima’ good-luck symbols painted on the carts after they have ambled past you. Or count the number of chickens being transported on the back of a groaning Vespa.

Colombia

The Coffee Triangle - which includes the pueblo towns of Salento and Filandia - has its own culture, diversity, food and of course, coffee.

I was told that I would find the best cup of coffee in the world in Colombia’s Zona Cafetera. I found some of the tastiest beans in little vintage cafes with vintage coffee machines. The coffee plantations nearby offered tasting sessions too. Part of the fun Is to climb on the back of a colorful Jeep to get to the plantations.

On the Coffee Road, in the colorful town of Salento, the biggest attraction - besides the coffee and the arepas - is its traditional architecture of one- and two-story buildings, with walls painted white, and doors and window frames in the brightest of candy colors.

The Triana neighborhood in Seville is a vibrant and culturally rich district that feels like a city within a city. Located across the Guadalquivir River, just a short walk from the historic center, Triana has long been known for its strong ties to Seville’s ceramic artistry and flamenco culture. Strolling through its colorful streets, you’ll discover centuries-old pottery traditions, lively taverns, and a deep sense of community that makes it one of the most authentic parts of Seville.

1. Calle San Jorge and Ceramic Shops: Triana is renowned for its ceramics, with a history that dates back to Roman times. Visit the Centro Cerámica Triana, a museum that showcases the art of traditional pottery, or explore the many small ceramic shops where you can find beautifully crafted tiles and pottery—perfect for a unique souvenir.

2. Calle Betis and Riverside Views: One of the most picturesque streets in Triana, Calle Betis, runs along the riverbank and offers spectacular views of Seville’s skyline, including the Torre del Oro and the cathedral. This street is ideal for a leisurely walk, with its colorful facades and lively atmosphere.

3. Flamenco Culture: Triana is the birthplace of many famous flamenco dancers and musicians. Visit Casa La Anselma or other traditional tablaos (flamenco venues) for an unforgettable night of passionate, live flamenco performances in an intimate setting.

4. Local Taverns and Tapas: End your exploration with a visit to one of Triana’s many authentic taverns, such as Bar Las Golondrinas or Taberna Sol y Sombra. Savor local specialties like grilled Iberian pork, fried fish, and the ever-popular salmorejo.

Tip: Visit in the evening when the neighborhood truly comes alive, with flamenco spilling into the streets and locals gathering at taverns for tapas and drinks.
