Pintxos, pronounced pinch-oss, are skewered snacks ranging from a rich, meaty bite on bread to salty gildas and beyond — the Basque version of tapas (locals boast they are better). With pintxos, you can try all the flavors of the Iberian peninsula. You'll learn the ins and outs of how to navigate the local food scene, the best spots and what to order at them.

This experience takes place at the studio of celebrated tango dancer, teacher, and choreographer Gisela Vidal. In a one-hour workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of tango—from posture and footwork to the subtle, improvised cues that turn each step into a shared language. Born in Buenos Aires in the late 1800s, tango emerged from working-class neighborhoods as a fusion of African rhythms, European melodies, and immigrant longing. In neighborhoods like San Telmo and La Boca, tango spilled into the streets—danced in courtyards, bars, and late-night cafés—becoming a mirror of the city’s mood and motion.

Growing up in Buenos Aires, Gisela Vidal danced her first tango at the age of 14. From there, she trained extensively in Tango Salon and Tango Stage style with the finest Argentinian Masters. Besides tango, Gisela has studied contemporary dance, jazz, belly dance, ballet, Argentine folk, and salsa. She has undertaken further tuition in theater and film acting, mime and clown art, and singing.

Gisela has participated in international tango festivals and major events including the opening of the Dakar 2009 in Buenos Aires. She was the choreographer and a stunt dancer for the Tango Infedele Video Clip.

During her 20-year career, Gisela has danced and coached in over 40 countries. She co-managed a tango school in Milan and coordinated the Tango Querido School in Tuscany. She launched her own jewelry business in 2018.

The experience begins Luca’s family home in the heart of Mamoiada. After a brief introduction in this 19th-century house, you’ll head to the vineyard just outside the village—a landscape shaped by vines, granite, and centuries of tradition.

There, among Cannonau rows and sweeping hills, stands a nuraghe: a prehistoric stone tower built by Sardinia’s ancient people, still intact after thousands of years. Beside it is a small farmhouse and a wooden patio overlooking the vines—your table for a guided tasting of three wines, including Luca’s rare Cannonau Bianco, made from an ancient cross between Cannonau and Gallòpu.

This white grape, known as Gallòpu, is now produced only by Luca in all of Barbagia. The tasting is followed by a traditional lunch: local appetizers, handmade ravioli with ragù, and slow-cooked sheep stew—a moment of pure Sardinian depth.

Luca is the only winemaker in Barbagia producing Gallòpu, an ancient white grape once nearly lost. His Cannonau Bianco is not just rare—it’s a symbol of his vision: to innovate without erasing the past, to make wines that speak both of place and of intention.

He produces his wines from native Sardinian varieties grown in high-altitude vineyards between 500 and 850 meters above sea level. 2. Throughout its history, the temple underwent several expansions and renovations. Prominent Roman emperors such as Augustus and Tiberius completed its decorations, adding to its historical and artistic significance.
3. In 1960, due to the Aswan High Dam's construction, UNESCO made an international call to save several historical monuments. As a token of gratitude for Spain's aid, Egypt gifted the Temple of Debod to Spain. It was meticulously dismantled, transported, and reconstructed in Madrid's Parque del Oeste, opening to the public in 1972.
4. The temple, surrounded by a pool of water, comprises three main reconstructed monuments. It retains its original stone-built enclosure wall, pylon gateways, and the sanctuary of Amun. The layout and decorations provide insight into ancient Egyptian religious practices and architectural styles.
5. The temple's continued exposure to the elements has been a subject of concern. In response, Madrid's city council decided in 2020 to accelerate plans to protect and preserve this unique historical monument.
This is a perfect place to see sunset from. Entry is free. Visits are capped at 30 minutes.

Buenos Aires, Argentina, is home to the Bosques de Palermo, the city’s largest and most beautiful green space, often compared to Central Park in New York or El Retiro in Madrid. Bosques de Palermo

Arkadi Monastery is one of Crete’s most historically significant sites, symbolizing the island’s fight for independence. Surrounded by olive groves and mountains, this 16th-century monastery combines beauty with deep cultural and historical importance.

Arkadi Monastery

Finland

At Riisitunturi National Park, ancient trees enveloped in layers of sticky snow (called ‘tykky’ in Finnish) assume fantastical shapes of monsters, ghosts, birds and families of snow people. On days like this, when sunrise and sunset happen within a two-hour window, backgrounds are brushed in pinks and yellows, and foregrounds etched with tracks of reindeer, dogs and humans. 

Snow is something more than frozen water to the Sami people. It’s a way of expressing the basis of their existence.

Best time to visit? Late December to March. Getting there from Rovaniemi takes more than 2 hours each way, but the trails are easy - we did a 4 km.

Visitor Tip: The best time for kitesurfing is between April and October when winds are strongest. If you're new to the sport, book a lesson with a certified instructor from one of the beach’s reputable kitesurfing schools.

Essaouira Beach

Miramare Castle, overlooking the Adriatic Sea near Trieste, is a stunning embodiment of 19th-century eclecticism. Built as the residence of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria and his wife Charlotte, this castle blends Gothic, Medieval, and Renaissance elements, offering visitors a glimpse into a royal past. Reasons to visit:
1 - The castle, designed by Austrian engineer Carl Junker, stands as a testament to the eclectic style of its era. It features more than 20 rooms including Maximilian’s bedroom, designed like a ship’s cabin, and the grand Throne Room. Visitors can follow a pre-established itinerary to explore these rooms, adorned with original furnishings, artworks, and decorative objects from the mid-19th century.
2 - Miramare Castle has witnessed significant historical moments, including the tragic story of its original inhabitants. Archduke Maximilian lived in the castle for only a few years before moving to Mexico, where he was appointed emperor and later met a tragic fate. The castle’s interiors reflect the life and tastes of this period, with poignant artworks like "The Last Moments of Maximilian" adding depth to the visit.
3 - The castle is surrounded by Miramare Park, a 22-hectare area featuring a mix of Northern and Mediterranean botanical elements. Greenland

Disko Bay is the Iceberg Factory for 10% of Greenland's icebergs. Sadly, production has increased in recent years, with Spring melts as early as April.

Nothing prepares you for the disorientation - and wonderment - of the brilliance of a midnight Sun. Especially when surrounded by massive icebergs that reflect and mirror the sky and the sea.

I don't remember seeing this yesterday, I tell the boat captain, is this a new work of art? He laughs, and tells me that everyday is  a bit different. 

The midnight boat trip in end-July - as the sun sets just for a few minutes - is the best time to see the sky’s amazing colors reflected on the icebergs.
