This 3.5-hour photography experience takes place in two of the most beautiful and culturally rich neighborhoods in Buenos Aires: La Boca and San Telmo. Led by a professional travel photographer from Buenos Aires, you will explore these streets with your own camera and learn how to capture the kinds of imagery usually seen in guidebooks and brochures.  Bernardo will steer you past iconic sights and down hidden passageways, illuminating architectural features easily spotted by the typical traveler. You will also fall into the natural rhythm of these bohemian districts and hear about the people who have shaped their development over the centuries.

The experience is designed for beginner photographers through to those with an existing knowledge of photography. It is best experienced with a DSLR or mirrorless camera however cell phones are also welcome. Tripods are not necessary although carrying a variety of lenses is a bonus.

This photographic experience is designed to introduce you to the most bohemian, visually enticing, and culturally stimulating neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. Rather than a standard walking tour, you will explore La Boca and San Telmo from the perspective of a professional photographer, an artist, and a Porteño local. Bernardo will guide you along La Caminito—the “Little Street” also referred to as an open-air street museum—where you will be immersed in the area’s vibrant history of tango and street art. From behind the lens, you will trace (and capture) the contrasts between these colorful tenement residences and modern structures.

You will also explore the bustling market which has stood in San Telmo since the late 19th century and pass by one of the oldest churches in Buenos Aires and the city’s narrowest house. Delivered at an unhurried pace, you will fall into the natural rhythm of these historic barrios and have the opportunity to capture everyday life as well as the buildings.

Next, step into the studio of a Berber Mâalem (master craftsperson) in the medina—a self-taught artist rooted in tradition—whose practice started on the streets and is now recognized as mainstream art. His journey reflects the essence of Essaouira’s emerging art brut (raw art) movement: spontaneous, intuitive, deeply personal.

You'll buy snacks in the Medina to take with you to a nearby village to meet a surrealist painter and community art leader whose works appear in local establishments and as street art projects made with children in underrepresented neighborhoods. His murals and ongoing initiatives promote the arts in the region.

This experience invites you into Essaouira's artistic continuum—from tradition to modernism—through direct encounters with three very different creators. At the city’s oldest thuya wood artisan workshop, you’ll observe techniques—wood selection, carving, and inlay with metals and mother-of-pearl—passed down through generations. This experience is offered as a shared activity for up to 5 people, with the option to make it private. Included are: photographic guidance and technical support, transfers by metro or bus, street food tasting, light lunch, a surprise for each participant at the end of the day, group and individual photos sent via WhatsApp or Instagram, follow-up on 10 selected photos in the following days via Google Meet or WhatsApp.

Francesco Verolino is a street photographer based in Naples and Essaouira who has turned his passion into a career focused on street and social documentary photography. Originally trained in economics and working as a business consultant, he was influenced by his grandfather, a painter, to develop a deep sensitivity to light and composition.

Francesco’s work explores the relationship between individuals and urban spaces to convey the raw essence of his subjects. Since 2020, he has been sharing his expertise through workshops and masterclasses, bringing more people into the world of street photography. His "Slow Photography" philosophy emphasizes patience, immersion, and understanding places before capturing them.

This is a 3-hour cooking experience at the Amal Women’s Cooperative Center, founded by the remarkable Nora Fitzgerald Belahcen. Rooted in empowerment and inclusion, the experience offers a hands-on introduction to Moroccan cuisine while celebrating the social impact of food.

You’ll begin with a short introduction to Amal’s mission—supporting women from vulnerable backgrounds by training them in the culinary arts. From there, you’ll dive into Moroccan cooking: exploring local spices, learning the stories of each dish, and preparing a traditional feast with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Some recipes are cooked over charcoal, using bellows to control the flame—an immersive detail that reflects Morocco’s culinary heritage.

As your dishes simmer, you'll enjoy a traditional tea paired with homemade cookies. The experience ends with a shared meal; you’ll gather to taste what you've created and connect with members of the Amal team, learning more about their lives, resilience and work.

We start by learning the different spices that go into Moroccan cuisine.
Then we get to work! After we do the basic prep of our dishes, we put them on charcoal to cook and use the bellows to make sure the fire is hot.
Once our fires are going nicely, we sit and enjoy a tea ceremony, where the hosts will talk about Amal Center, it's special mission to empower women, as well as any and all questions guests may have about Morocco in general.

This immersive workshop, held in a private studio in the Fatih District, provides a rare opportunity to learn these traditional techniques under the guidance of a miniature art master.

Led by Şeyma Çınar, a certified expert in miniature and illumination arts, you will learn the essential techniques of Ottoman miniature painting, including fine detailing, color layering, and the traditional stylization of figures and landscapes. In this three-hour session, you will create your own miniature artwork, exploring the time-honored methods used in palace ateliers. Complemented by Turkish tea and snacks, this experience offers a deep cultural connection to Istanbul’s creative scene.

This workshop is one of the few short-format sessions that introduces Ottoman miniature painting in an accessible yet authentic way. The host, Şeyma Çınar, is a master artist specializing in miniature art, Tezhip (Islamic illumination), and floral designs since 1998. With formal certification from Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, she has dedicated over 25 years to studying and teaching the intricate techniques of Ottoman miniature painting. Having participated in multiple exhibitions and published work on Islamic art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient craft. Discover Barcelona's architectural heritage while savoring its unique food culture. Barcelona is renowned for both its cuisine and architecture, and with Consuming Architecture, we blend these two in a sensory feast. We visit 3-4 historical establishments, where we follow the local custom of having tapas and an aperitif before sitting down to dine. Marvel at the beauty of historical, early 20th-century interiors while enjoying local wines and tapas dishes. The highlight of our tour is a visit to a renowned restaurant set in an Art Nouveau-style apartment. Consuming Architecture is an experience that will linger long after your holiday is over.

We begin our journey with a glass of vermouth or cava, a Spanish sparkling wine, in a historic ultramarinos in the Eixample, recently named one of the most beautiful shops in the world. Here, we'll discuss the development of the area and its singular architectural style. From there, we stroll to another historic venue, nestled in a first-floor modernista apartment. It boasts an outdoor terrace, perfect for further drinks and engaging conversation.

The final stop of the tour is a real gem – a singular modernista building with a breathtaking entrance. Here, after the guide has shown them the premises and explained its fascinating history, guests (without the guide) will enjoy a three-course meal with wine in a sumptuous private dining room.

And observe the grounds come alive in the moonlight: exotic trees, vibrant blooms, the occasional peacock. Don’t miss the underground Baths of María de Padilla. This vaulted cistern, with still waters and dramatic arches, creates a mirror-like other-worldly effect and is steeped in legends of secrecy and forbidden love.

You’ll begin your tour with an elegant lunch in a preserved traditional house before visiting three of Nada Gogo’s outstanding breweries to learn how to appreciate the taste of sake. Your host Eva will give you a deeper understanding of sake culture, visiting an exclusive location to learn how the traditional art of producing sake barrels is being preserved and a museum dedicated to the humble sake cup, whose shapes and materials affect the taste of its content more than you’d expect.


For sake connoisseurs, Nada Gogo represents the pinnacle of sake production, maintaining its world-class standards of delicately flavored sake for centuries. But whether your experience with sake stretches decades or mere days, this tour will introduce you to nuances of sake production rarely considered: the traditional barrels where sake is aged and the evolution of the sake cup, whose shape and material can drastically alter the flavor of the drink it holds.

This special experience takes you off the beaten path into the world of a truly local family in Lunlunta, Mendoza. For over 30 years, Juan Marcos Juricich — a softly spoken agronomist and beekeeper — has lived and worked on this small finca with his children, who now help him run the place. Upon arrival, you'll explore the estate with Federico, the youngest son and a winemaker who produces organic wine from grapes lovingly grown on the family plot. You'll sample his latest blends fresh from the tanks and, if you like what you taste, you can even bottle your own wine to take home. 

Through Federico, you will learn about Juan's storied beekeeping and organic honey production methods. There is a chance to try the honey and, depending on the season, hold the hives. “In my youth,” he recalls, “many people came here, to the Algarve, and my family—like many others—had small farms. I spent a lot of time working on these farms growing carob, figs, almonds, and olives.” These daily rituals shaped his relationship to the land. “Everybody knows the Algarve for its oranges,” he adds, 
remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”
What João wants travelers to experience is that same connection: the gestures and flavors that tie people to place. “We still recognize these things—the tradition of fishing, the dry fruits, the rituals of picking and preparing. This is what I want travelers to connect with.”

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

This itinerary reflects what Manila calls the “true essence of Catalonia” — a place of cultural pride, natural beauty, and distinct local identity. Manila first arrived in Barcelona more than two decades ago, while finishing her studies in Rome. She needed an internship for her thesis and chose Barcelona without expecting how quickly she’d feel at home.“Barcelona, 22 years ago, was a different place,” she says. “It was less cosmopolitan, more local. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Whether through demonstrations or cultural festivals, they come together. They’re efficient and organized, but also keep that relaxed Mediterranean vibe. It’s a unique combination.”

São Vicente de Fora Monastery

Pyrgos is a trendy hilltop medieval village. It’s full of little winding, narrow streets constructed haphazardly on the hills alongside multi-colored houses and doors. We lose our way several times and keep looping back to the same point .. using that as an excuse to check out yet another local art gallery constructed unobtrusively into the hillside. 

During the 15th and 16th century, the locals defended themselves from pirates by erecting kastelias .. fortified buildings. Pyrgos has the best example of these medieval buildings on the island. It also has the oldest churches.

We stop at a home with a large blue door .. and the views are stunning but give an impression that Santorini is flat and covered by vineyards instead of being a caldera. 

The one fascinating feature of homes here is a long, deep chimney for ventilation. And the strong winds make howling noises through the chimneys.

In Pyrgos, we visited vineyards ... but that’s a different story.

Arkadi Monastery

Nestled between the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the vast Sahara, Agdz is a small yet historically rich town that serves as the gateway to the stunning Draa Valley. Once an important stop along the ancient trans-Saharan trade routes, this region is renowned for its lush palm groves, traditional kasbahs, and breathtaking desert landscapes. Whether you're drawn by history, nature, or photography, Agdz and the Draa Valley offer an unforgettable experience of southern Morocco’s beauty and heritage.

Staying in a traditional kasbah guesthouse offers an immersive experience, while a camera is a must to capture the stunning palm groves, kasbahs, and desert landscapes.

Agdz & the Draa Valley

“But in the Kalahari, it's always Tuesday, or Thursday if you like. Or Sunday. No clocks or calendars tell you to do this or that.” - The Gods Must be Crazy

Walking with the Zu/’hoasi Bushmen of the Makgadikgadi Plains in the Central Kalahari, quintessential hunter-gatherers, I learned several things that I hope never to have to use - how to pronounce first names that are laden with clicks, collect plants for medicinal recipes, dig for scorpions, and make a fire with twigs and leaves.

Makgadikgadi means 'dry, dry', but the bush men and women know how to live in harmony with the land. Family and cultural ties are strong.

Thanks to Jack’s Camp for organizing this visit, they have longstanding connections with the local people.

Once a symbol of imperial might, El Badi Palace in Marrakesh now stands as a striking ruin, echoing the glory of a bygone era. Commissioned in the late 16th century by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur of the Saadian dynasty, this vast palace was designed to showcase Morocco’s newfound wealth and power after the triumphant Battle of the Three Kings. Though centuries of dismantling have stripped away its lavish finishes, the remaining structure still commands awe, offering a compelling glimpse into the grandeur of Saadian architecture and ambition.
