This is a photo walk to watch the sunset over the sea, while birds fly over the cliffs. The easy path winds along the coast to a panoramic viewpoint offering a stunning view of the Capo Nieddu waterfall—the only one in Sardinia that flows directly into the sea. As the sun sets, you'll see the landscape transform: golden light paints the cliffs and the sea. An expert photographer will offer advice on how to capture the beauty of nature through your lens.

During the rainy season (January to April), the Capo Nieddu waterfall plunges directly into the sea 40 meters down a steep cliff, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Massimiliano will lead you to the lesser-known viewpoints, turning the walk into an exciting adventure. As an expert photographer, he will share techniques and angles to help you capture extraordinary shots.

Andrea — an anthropologist and longtime resident of Coyoacán with family roots in Guerrero — begins with a brief walk near her studio in a neighborhood shaped by the encounter of colonial and Indigenous cultures — the roots from which mezcal emerged.

Back at her studio, you’ll taste three distinct mezcals from Guerrero, each carefully selected by Andrea. As you sip, she shares the cultural context behind each variety — from the agave species to traditional distillation methods. You’ll learn how to “kiss” the mezcal, as Spanish speakers say — a slow, attentive tasting style that reveals each glass’s unique character. Each mezcal is paired with locally inspired bites, drawing on the Guerrero heritage Andrea brings to both her cooking and design, and curated to enhance and echo the complexity of the spirits.

The setting is relaxed, the guidance personal, and the flavors unforgettable. This is a rare introduction to mezcal by someone who lives and breathes its culture. Andrea has spent years sourcing, bottling, and sharing small-batch mezcal from Guerrero. Andrea is an anthropologist by training, Master Mezcalier by trade, and a singer. She has fifteen years of experience promoting Guerrero State's mezcal culture and traditions, an area not typically associated with mezcal, but with plenty of flavors that are a joy to discover.

Andrea's own work in mezcal emerged from an extensive family history, where numerous memories and experiences have been intrinsically linked to the enjoyment of this spirit, always accompanied by good food and music. Since 2010, Andrea has been an integral part of the new narrative being woven around mezcal from Guerrero, actively contributing to its recognition and appreciation both nationally and internationally. 

Andrea's knowledge encompasses not only the specific culture of Guerrero, but extends to the diverse traditions that exist throughout the length and breadth of Mexico. She is certified as a Master Mezcalier and as a Leader in Food and Beverage Sensory Evaluation.

Portugal

Immerse yourself in the fragrant world of an aromatic and medicinal herbs farm nestled in the picturesque region of Alentejo, Portugal. This experience invites you to explore the sustainable practices of organic farming and gain insights into the use of Portuguese aromatic herbs. You'll witness the farm's commitment to biodiversity and regenerative agriculture, making it a haven not just for plants but for pollinators like bees. The farm is home to a century-old olive grove and more than 45 plant species, each with unique gastronomical and medicinal properties. 

Rute and João will teach you all about traditional harvesting and drying techniques, plucking herbs straight from the garden to smell, taste and make art with. After the farm tour, you’ll join a Cyanotype printmaking workshop (or similar activity in winter) allowing you to take home your own herbarium. Then sit down for a multi-course lunch based on traditional Alentejo recipes under a shady ash tree or in the cozy greenhouse.

The visit will begin by explaining the organic production method and the agricultural practices used in the farm. Then, the visitor will learn how to make a herbarium using the Cyanotype technique (or similar activity in winter). Take your Japanese culinary experience to the next level in this workshop that allows you to participate in the preparation of a three-course, home-cooked meal. Far from the elaborate kaiseki meals that can be prepared only by chefs who have spent years honing their skills, Mami, a local chef and pâtissier, guides you in creating a simple yet heartfelt meal that you can learn to prepare in your own home using local, seasonal ingredients. The dishes include a vegetable dish, a fish dish, and a sushi; the actual ingredients will change with the seasons.

Set in a stylish century-old liquor shop, you’ll also enjoy several types of Japanese sake that will be paired with each course. As the entire experience is conducted only in Japanese, your host Eric, using his own background as a Kyoto-based chef, will explain the details throughout your time here. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into the traditional Japanese approach to food, built on harmony, seasonality and visual presentation. 

This experience offers rare insight into everyday Kyoto cuisine. Chef Mami walks you through each step of a seasonal three-course meal, explaining how the average Kyoto resident selects ingredients, balances flavors, and adapts to what’s available. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Eric has been living in Kyoto for over 22 years. He first came to Kyoto to complete his Master’s degree in Japanese Art History and has worked as a teacher and translator. Since 2022, he has been running a monthly pop-up restaurant, serving Cantonese-inspired dishes. Well connected with the art and culinary communities in Kyoto, he is eager to share this wonderful city with visitors. 

Kimono-expert Dr. Sheila Cliffe opens both her home and her closet to guests in this highly detailed, hands-on workshop exploring the beauty of kimono and the textiles used to create them. 

In the first half of this experience, Sheila will show you the full range of a kimono wardrobe, from the most formal styles worn on special occasions to casual and informal pieces that were once suitable to wear daily. She selects the pieces from her vast collection in a variety of patterns and materials, including rare and expensive weaves from remote parts of Japan. This 7-day itinerary through Portugal’s western Algarve invites you to experience the region through the lens of João Ministro—Fernwayer experience-maker, expert in responsible tourism and regional development, and a lifelong student of the land. 
You'll begin in Faro, then move inland through Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, and Alte, before curving west toward Lagos, Monchique, Silves, and Olhão. For most visitors, the Algarve conjures images of beaches and seafood. But João’s Algarve is more textured—what he calls the “poetic Algarve.” He cites writers like Sofia de Melo Breyner Andresen and José Saramago, who captured the soul of the region in images of sunsets, fruit, wind, and silence. For João, the true essence of the Algarve lies in its sensory landscape and the stories attached to it.
“In my youth,” he recalls, “many people came here, to the Algarve, and my family—like many others—had small farms. I spent a lot of time working on these farms growing carob, figs, almonds, and olives.” These daily rituals shaped his relationship to the land. “Everybody knows the Algarve for its oranges,” he adds, 
remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”
What João wants travelers to experience is that same connection: the gestures and flavors that tie people to place. “We still recognize these things—the tradition of fishing, the dry fruits, the rituals of picking and preparing. This is what I want travelers to connect with.”
Still, he knows it's not always simple. “The Algarve is quite diverse. It’s not just one story. A good connection to the people here is important. Travelers are interested in how we live, how we spend the day, what we do.” This itinerary is João’s answer to that challenge: an immersive route where nature, food, craft, and memory guide the pace.

A native of Sicily and longtime resident of Barcelona, Manila blends insight with a deep curiosity. Begin with three days in Barcelona, where Manila recommends focusing not on checklists but on rhythm: explore historic neighborhoods, check out design ateliers, sample Catalan cuisine, and seek out the quieter corners still alive with local tradition. | Head south into the wine country of Priorat, a lesser-known region with rolling hills and medieval villages. Stay in Siurana, a cliffside hamlet with sweeping views and access to local winemakers. | Continue to the Ebro Delta, one of Spain’s richest ecological regions. Here, you can bike through rice paddies, watch migratory birds, and experience a side of Catalonia rarely included in mainstream itineraries. | End in Girona, a city of ancient walls, celebrated chefs, and architectural quiet. This itinerary reflects what Manila calls the “true essence of Catalonia” — a place of cultural pride, natural beauty, and distinct local identity. Manila first arrived in Barcelona more than two decades ago, while finishing her studies in Rome. She needed an internship for her thesis and chose Barcelona without expecting how quickly she’d feel at home.“Barcelona, 22 years ago, was a different place,” she says. “It was less cosmopolitan, more local. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Whether through demonstrations or cultural festivals, they come together. They’re efficient and organized, but also keep that relaxed Mediterranean vibe. It’s a unique combination.”

Church of Agios Spyridon

Preveli Beach is a hidden gem where a river meets the sea, surrounded by a lush palm forest and dramatic cliffs. This unique beach, located at the mouth of the Kourtaliotiko Gorge, offers a perfect mix of adventure, natural beauty, and relaxation.

Preveli Beach and Palm Forest

Cagliari’s Historic Center, the heart of Sardinia’s capital, is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and stunning views. Known as Castello, this hilltop district dates back to medieval times and is home to centuries-old architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, and panoramic vistas of the Gulf of Cagliari. Packed with historic landmarks, lively squares, and charming cafes, the historic center offers a glimpse into Sardinia’s rich past while remaining a bustling part of the modern city. 
1. The Bastione di Saint Remy, with its grand staircase and terrace, offers breathtaking views of the city, the port, and the surrounding area, especially magical at sunset. 
2. The Cagliari Cathedral, a stunning Romanesque-Gothic structure, is a must-see for its ornate interior and crypts, housing relics of Sardinian martyrs. 
3. The Torre dell’Elefante and Torre di San Pancrazio, medieval towers that once defended the city, provide incredible views and insight into Cagliari’s fortifications. 
4. Wander through the Piazza Palazzo, where historic buildings like the Archbishop’s Palace and the Royal Palace reflect the city’s political and religious history. 
5. The district’s narrow streets and alleys, lined with colorful houses, artisan shops, and traditional trattorias, make exploring on foot a delight. 
Visitor Tip: Allow 2–3 hours to explore the historic center. Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestone streets and steep climbs, and visit in the late afternoon to enjoy cooler weather and evening lights.

Cagliari’s Historic Center

Georgia

Despite the fact that in our time it is very difficult to travel, I flew with my dog to beautiful Tbilisi) This city is located in the mountains and you have to overcome many ascents, which does not prevent me and the dog from being happy here)

Pyrgos is a trendy hilltop medieval village. It’s full of little winding, narrow streets constructed haphazardly on the hills alongside multi-colored houses and doors. We lose our way several times and keep looping back to the same point .. using that as an excuse to check out yet another local art gallery constructed unobtrusively into the hillside. 

During the 15th and 16th century, the locals defended themselves from pirates by erecting kastelias .. fortified buildings. Pyrgos has the best example of these medieval buildings on the island. It also has the oldest churches.

We stop at a home with a large blue door .. and the views are stunning but give an impression that Santorini is flat and covered by vineyards instead of being a caldera. 

The one fascinating feature of homes here is a long, deep chimney for ventilation. And the strong winds make howling noises through the chimneys.

In Pyrgos, we visited vineyards ... but that’s a different story.

Old Blue Doors

Museo de Bellas Artes

The Mayan culture is one of the most important indigenous cultures in Southern Mexico. Artifacts from bygone times stretch far across the jungles of Quintana Roos and Chiapas. 

If you want to learn more about how indigenous peoples lived before colonization, don't miss the ruins of Palenque. Arguably the largest Mayan ruins on the continent, they're tucked away, deeply hidden in the Mexican jungle. The highlights of the actual ruins are the numerous temples, a palace and aqueducts, and of course, a guided tour where you can learn all about Mexico's history. If you venture out into the jungle, you'll encounter rare wildlife like monkeys, colorful birds, and giant snakes.

Take sunscreen, plenty of water, and some snacks, as the tour takes at least half a day.
