During the rainy season (January to April), the Capo Nieddu waterfall plunges directly into the sea 40 meters down a steep cliff, creating a breathtaking spectacle. This exploration of three lesser-known, evocative temple gardens in Kyoto offers a deep understanding of Japanese dry landscape design — where every stone, every line of raked gravel, carries meaning. Led by certified garden designer and author Ayumi Ikushima, the experience opens a thoughtful path into the philosophy and form of Zen gardens.

You’ll begin at the Crane and Turtle Garden where Ayumi introduces the foundational principles of Japanese garden design: symbolism, placement, interplay between nature and intention. 

A short walk takes you to a second temple where the garden reflects nature in miniature — a landscape composed to invite observation. You’ll learn to see and photograph the space mindfully.

Your final stop is a larger temple with a modern take on the tradition. A resident monk leads a meditation in view of the garden, offering how stillness and landscape are meant to interact. Then, you'll sit with Ayumi over tea and seasonal sweets to reflect and ask questions.

Many of Kyoto’s most famous temples now draw crowds so dense they verge on the tourist-trap, where authenticity gives way to speed and spectacle. This experience instead leads you through contemplative spaces where the spirit of the garden remains intact. It invites you to slow down and see Japanese gardens as systems of thought—reflections of Buddhist, Shinto and aesthetic values that have shaped Japan for centuries.

This full-day bird watching excursion is led by a naturalist guide and conservationist who surveys the local population of avifauna and knows all the best spots to encounter resident and migratory species. After leaving San Pedro, you first drive south towards Jere Canyon (Quebrada de Jere) where tamarugo conebills, oasis hummingbirds, white-winged doves, and plain-mantled tit-spinetails dwell. There are brief stops along the way in oases frequented by birds. The morning concludes at the Atacama Salt Flat's Chaxa Lagoon, where you will encounter three of the world's six flamingo species.

Upon return to San Pedro, you'll enjoy a relaxed lunch with Valeria in a local restaurant before driving north to highland canyons and wetlands. Art to Coast in Valparaíso

So amid the current situation of the world myself and two other friends managed to score flights to Colorado for $47. We rented a Jeep and decided to travel all around Colorado. This was my first time ever out west as I am an eastern girl! 

If you are ever able to visit Maroon Bells please do! Preferably at night so that you can watch the sun set over the mountain top! The sound coming from the small river combined with the smell of fresh air made me want to pitch a tent and never leave! The weather was not as cold as I expected. I was hoping to see more wild life but besides a few ducks there was none. I still had a fantastic time.

Philippines

This was my first time visiting Gigantes Islands, and I was struck by the raw beauty of its cliffs and crystal-clear waters that surround its secluded beaches. There are several islands that you can hop in to and my favorite one is what the locals call the “mini boracay” because the sand sure feels like that in Boracay. Other islands are as equally awesome like the Bantigue sandbar, and Cabugay. We also explored the local neighborhood and sure has its own interesting stories. For one, I discovered that due to the abundance of scallops in the island, there’s a neighborhood that stands on a land area that’s made up of scallop shells that is meters thick! Just imagine how much scallops shells that would’ve taken. There’s a lot to explore but if you just want something that’s relaxed, you can just have a good beer by the beach from sunset til night. 

Gigantes Islands

Tarragona, Spain, is a coastal city in Catalonia known for its impressive Roman ruins, golden beaches, and vibrant Mediterranean charm. Tarragona

Essaouira, Morocco, is home to the lively Moulay Hassan Square, the heart of the city’s social and cultural life. Situated between the historic medina and the bustling port, this spacious, pedestrian-friendly plaza offers a vibrant mix of cafés, restaurants, street performers, and local markets. Whether you're people-watching, enjoying a mint tea, or soaking in the lively atmosphere, Moulay Hassan Square perfectly captures the relaxed, bohemian spirit of Essaouira.

1. The square’s open-air cafés offer prime spots to enjoy traditional Moroccan tea or fresh seafood while watching the ebb and flow of daily life.

Moulay Hassan Square

Monolithos Beach, located on the eastern coast of Santorini near the airport, is a quiet and family-friendly destination ideal for relaxation. Known for its soft black sand and shallow waters, this beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying a peaceful day away from the island’s busier spots. With its laid-back atmosphere and convenient amenities, Monolithos Beach is a great choice for families and travelers seeking tranquility. 
1. The calm, shallow waters make it ideal for swimming and safe for families with children, offering a stress-free beach experience. 
2. The soft black sand typical of Santorini’s volcanic beaches provides a comfortable place to relax under the sun. 
3. There are organized sections with sun loungers and umbrellas, as well as quieter, unspoiled areas for those seeking privacy. 
4. Beachside tavernas and cafés serve fresh seafood and local dishes, allowing visitors to enjoy a meal or snack with a view. 
5. The area features sports facilities, including a playground and volleyball courts, adding to its appeal for families and active travelers. 
Visitor Tip: Plan to spend 2–3 hours at Monolithos Beach for a leisurely swim and relaxation. It’s less crowded than Santorini’s more famous beaches, so it’s a great option for a laid-back outing. Bring water shoes for comfort on the volcanic sand, and enjoy a meal at one of the nearby tavernas.

Antalya, Turkey, is home to Karaalioglu Park, a beautiful seaside park offering panoramic views of the Mediterranean, lush greenery, and a peaceful escape from the city’s busy streets. Located near Kaleiçi (Old Town), the park is a favorite spot for locals and visitors to walk, relax, and enjoy breathtaking sunsets. With its scenic pathways, historical monuments, and charming cafés, Karaalioglu Park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a quiet moment by the sea.

1. Stunning clifftop views of the Mediterranean Sea, Antalya Bay, and the Taurus Mountains, making it one of the best places in the city for photography.

2. Hıdırlık Tower, a Roman-era watchtower that offers a glimpse into Antalya’s ancient history and serves as a scenic viewpoint.

Karaalioglu Park

On a sunrise photo-walk, we are at Piazza San Marco. At 5AM, it’s empty, other than for a few pigeons, and a photo enthusiast like ourselves. And we run across - with tripods - to get to the Canal looking out towards San Giorgio Maggiore Island.

Our objective? To watch and photograph gondolas swaying in the canals of Venice. It’s perfect for long exposure shots. The gondolas and docks are lit up by street lights and the sky has the perfect blend of dark and light.

We then rush over to the vaporetto stand near Europa & Regina Hotel overlooking Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, for another Gondola scene (pictured) while the light is still good.

So, how many gondolas can you get into one frame?

We head out down the Grand Canal to the Rialto Fish Market. Some sellers are packing up after a good morning, but we’re able to get some great shots of everyday life. 

We walk back over Rialto bridge (great for photos of activity on the Canal) back to the hotel for breakfast.

The little bar in the corner, run by Paolo for over two decades, is a gathering spot for regulars who share stories, wine, and homemade snacks. This spot is emblematic of Italian social culture, where time slows down, and life is savored.
Mercato Coperto is located at Via Carducci 36 in Trieste. While some parts of the market are less bustling than before, it still remains a place worth visiting for its unique atmosphere and cultural richness. You’re encouraged to stroll through the colorful lanes, interact with local vendors, and soak in the lively, albeit sometimes quiet, spirit of the place.
