This full-day journey takes you inland through Andalusia to Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas, two towns whose form and history have been shaped by the rock they inhabit. Both belong to the region’s pueblos blancos (“white towns”), but each responds to its terrain in a markedly different way.

In Ronda, you explore a city built around the deep cut of the El Tajo gorge. Walking its bridges, streets, and viewpoints, you see how Roman, Islamic, and Christian periods each worked with — and against — the natural defenses of the landscape. Marrakesh & the Atlas Way

7 days in Morocco from Marrakesh with an itinerary that blends medina life, culture and mountains.

My sister and I flew into Las Vegas to then see the Grand Canyon. We woke early to get picked up at our hotel and the tour took us to the Hoover Dam, a stop on Route 66 (where the Cars movie took place), and finally the Grand Canyon. We did an easy hike but it took about 4 hours. We stopped multiple times for pictures. It was amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice. 

My sister and I wish we had spent more time there and maybe hiking a different trail.

Grand Canyon Excursion

Shibuya Crossing, or Shibuya Scramble Crossing, is a popular scramble crossing in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.[1] It is located in front of the Shibuya Station Hachikō exit and stops vehicles in all directions to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection. The statue of Hachikō, between the station and the intersection, is a common meeting place and almost always crowded.

Three large TV screens mounted on nearby buildings overlook the crossing, as well as many advertising signs. The Starbucks store overlooking the crossing is also one of the busiest in the world. Its heavy traffic and inundation of advertising have led to it being compared to the Times Square intersection in New York City and Piccadilly Circus intersection in London.

The Rua Augusta Arch, an iconic triumphal arch in Lisbon, Portugal, stands as a symbol of the city's rebirth after the 1755 earthquake. Located at the northern end of the Praça do Comércio, this arch not only marks the entrance to the Rua Augusta but also provides a gateway to understanding Lisbon's rich history and culture. Stepping into Piazza San Marco, with the majestic Basilica at its eastern end, is unforgettable. Napoleon described it as 'the finest drawing room in Europe'. 5 top reasons to visit:
 
1: Historical Evolution: In the Piazza, imagine, Venice in the 9th century, as St. Mark's Square was first established. It wasn't until the 12th century that it expanded to its current size under Doge Sebastiano Ziani. Around you, the Byzantine Saint Mark’s Basilica stands as a testament to Venice's rich history, originally founded in 828 AD to house the relics of Saint Mark, brought from Alexandria.

2: Architectural Marvel of the Basilica: Be awe-struck by the basilica's ornate façades and the intricate mosaics that adorn its domes, the grandeur of which reflects Venice's interaction with Byzantium and the East. On the epic Ring Road drive (A1) in East Iceland, there’s a black sand beach called Stokksnes, just a few kilometres from Höfn. 

A gravel road gets you to a tiny cafeteria - where you can pay a small fee to drive further in till the edge of the water. 

Volcanic black sand dunes, Tall green grasses. Waves breaking on the rocks. Wind. Reflections in the water. Incredible beauty. Pure zen.

We spend nearly four amazing hours in the Sand River Circuit in the midst of a spectacular head of grunting wildebeest. Led by “collective intelligence”, these animals complete a 1000 mile loop over the course of a year, and most survive for several seasons of this tough journey! 

When we arrive in the Grumeti Reserves, further south, we find the last few hundred thousand or so wildebeest. Here they are extremely purposeful and move in a single-file. Perhaps they have realized that they are late and will miss out on all the new green grass in the northern plains. They kick up a storm of dust as they move forward with determination - though it is not unusual to see the whole herd running swiftly back if something ahead spooks them. 

It is here that we see the consequences of the ‘battle’ - injured animals or those too weary to complete the journey. This is sad to watch as they will soon become easy prey to the predators. 

Such is the ⭕️ of life.

One Million Wildebeest

1. Seaside Promenade: Wander along Moda’s picturesque waterfront, where lush parks and pathways invite you to relax with views of the Marmara Sea. Sunset is especially magical, with hues of gold and pink lighting up the horizon.
2. Hip Cafes and Eateries: Moda is a haven for coffee and food lovers. Enjoy third-wave coffee shops, artisan bakeries, and bistros serving everything from Turkish meze to international dishes. Don’t miss the chance to try local ice cream at the famous Ali Usta.

Guatapé, after￼￼￼ a long time without leaving our homes, the breeze, the nature around and the hiking up the majestic “piedra del Peñol” give you a sense of freedom and greatness! The trees, plants, grass mixing up with the green of the dam, leave a mark! 
The colorful tiny houses and murals around this little but warming town, are the top ingredient to complete your joy while walking throughout the passages and sharing stories with the locals around!

My enduring memory of this visit was watching a group of women unraveling their yarn 🧶 with hands moving so fast it was mesmerising to watch. 

Chinchero is a small Andean village near Urubamba. A handicrafts market is held here thrice a week - and it’s a great place to meet the local people. 

Or to haggle for textiles. Or vegetables. Or a 🐓. To learn how to distinguish between the various Andean tribes based on their different, wildly colorful hats. To catch a weaving demonstration at a local workshop. And marvel at how every color in the wool comes from a natural dye source. 

And my favorite: To make an old lady laugh by showing her pictures on my viewfinder of her own toothy grin from different angles.

6. Artisanal Products: The village is also famous for its artisanal products, such as tuna-based delicacies and other seafood, which are deeply connected to the history of La Tonnara.

Having a background in biology, coming to the Galapagos was absolutely a bucket list trip. The trip is worth going if you have three to seven days, depending on how much you want to see. I was there for three days and I could have discovered more islands. 

It is important to have a tour guide as you are not allowed to venture outside the town without one. 

Definitely worth a visit!

The trip of a lifetime!

Australia

Kakadu National Park is half the size of Switzerland and a real adventure. If you rent a car, you could drive along the road for weeks, camping in different places and experiencing nature in a way you can't anywhere else.

After leaving Darwin in a rented 4x4 jeep, we made the long drive to Kakadu National Park. Take plenty of drinks and snacks with you, as there aren't many stops on the road. Along the way, we visited several refreshing waterholes and waterfalls, had an open-air barbecue, and saw many birds, snakes, anthills, and farmland along the way.

At night we mostly stayed at campsites that provided tents, and the beauty of the night is incomparable. You can hear, smell, and see countless species of animals, from alligators swimming in lakes at night to dingoes howling, to weirdly chirping insects.

We hiked to a hidden waterfall and discovered some hundreds-of-years-old wooden paintings done by the ancestors of Australia's indigenous people. A must-see in Australia for sure!
