This 3-hour photography experience focuses on three neighborhoods in Valparaíso: Barrio Puerto, Cerro Concepción, Cerro Alegre. Delivered as a walking tour, the experience includes a break for coffee and empanadas.

Starting in the historic port enclave, you'll warm up by photographing street markets and cobblestone lanes lined with houses that have withstood countless earthquakes. Then, ascend to Cerro Concepción aboard a 100-year-old funicular to witness the improbable geometry of a city built on 42 hills. David will guide you through the vibrant streets, pausing to capture murals, ornate doors and sweeping vistas.

At each photo stop, David shares stories about the city and its people. He explains the symbolism behind motifs and reveals hidden messages tucked into the city’s art and architecture. Before you even reach for your camera, he’ll invite you to trace your hands over the weather-worn corrugated metal of these enchanted homes—and fall into step with the rhythm of Valparaiso.

While the hills of Concepción and Alegre burst with color and art, the port enclave of Barrio Puerto is more subdued. Starting here offers an alternate view of Valparaíso—one rooted in everyday life. You’ll see fishmongers calling out their catch and locals hunting for the ripest avocados. David facilitates small exchanges with vendors and helps you frame compelling photographic moments.

As the tour shifts to the city’s better-known quarters, David avoids postcard clichés. He’ll guide you down quieter alleys, urging you to notice hidden textures and play with perspective. He’ll share the meanings behind local street art—including clever in-jokes—and remind you to look up, down, and behind.

You’ll also visit an independent gallery showcasing analogue photography and screen printing, followed by a stop at one of David’s favorite cafés—where the atmosphere, like the experience, is built to keep your creativity flowing.

Valparaíso: Exposing Contrasts

Meet David inside Mercado Puerto on the ground floor. The market is bounded by Cochrane, Valdivia, Blanco, and San Martin streets. It's a 10-minute walk from the port and accessible by Uber or Cabify.

Growing up amid the windswept dunes of Concón and the bohemian streets of Valparaíso kindled David's appreciation for photography, nature, and art. He graduated from the University of Playa Ancha and went on to work as a Software Engineer, while flexing his skills behind the lens. 

As a self-taught photographer, David has honed his talent working with both landscapes and portraiture. He has an experimental style and a keen eye for spotting easily-missed details He has a special ability to see the potential in the simple aspects of local reality and culture, and always seeks to capture them in an original way through his photography. He works with a Canon DSLR, using 50mm and 18-55mm lenses for regular shots and a 300mm lens to capture distant subjects with clarity and depth.

David draws upon his extensive archive of travel photography experiences while mentoring those visiting Valparaíso on how to capture the beauty of a city and why you should look beyond what's at eye level.

Spain

This experience traces the historical layers of Córdoba. It begins at the only Mosque–Cathedral in the world, one of the most complex religious monuments in Europe, where Umayyad Islamic architecture and later Christian interventions coexist within a single structure. From there, you cross the Roman Bridge, a vital link since antiquity that still defines the city’s relationship with the Guadalquivir.

The walk continues into the Jewish Quarter, whose narrow, irregular streets preserve the medieval urban fabric. In the Synagogue, one of only three surviving medieval synagogues in Spain, you learn how it endured. Along the way, you pass historic courtyards, civic buildings, and lesser-known sites that reveal daily life beyond monumental landmarks.

The route includes pauses and local tapas, reflecting Córdoba’s long tradition of social life. This tour suits travelers arriving by morning train or car, often from Málaga or Seville, seeking a full, historically grounded day in the city.

You can travel by car from Seville and Málaga in an hour and a half. Córdoba can also be reached by train within 45 minutes-1 hour from both. Toni can advise you on travel options, but transport to/from Córdoba are not included.

This immersive day trip from Porto invites you into the heart of Terra de Miranda, a culturally rich and ecologically pristine region in Northeast Portugal. Guided by a naturalist photographer and a cultural researcher, you'll explore ancient chestnut groves, oak and holm oak forests, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Serra da Nogueira and the Spanish mountains of Sanabria and Culebra. 

The program changes with the season but may include swimming in rivers and natural pools during summer, autumn forest walks, and winter snowshoeing. This walk through Chartrons traces Bordeaux’s wine-trading past, culminating in a tasting inside the historic négociant museum. The walk begins at Esplanade des Quinconces, where Victoria introduces Bordeaux as a city shaped by its river and by centuries of maritime commerce. The Chartrons quays, a stretch of 18th-century façades, once framed the work of wine merchants and brokers linked to the Port de la Lune.

Turning inland, Rue Notre-Dame shows how trade and domestic life overlapped: cellars below, families above, and today antique shops that echo the district’s merchant past. The church of Saint-Louis des Chartrons and nearby market square mark a neighborhood built around exchange, storage, and early structures of Bordeaux’s wine economy.

Likely meaning “place of coyotes,” Coyoacán was originally a village founded by the Tepanec people in pre-Columbian times. This is a Gothic-Renaissance palace that once served as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa. Today, it houses a museum displaying artifacts from Dubrovnik's history​​. Originally erected in the 15th century, this historical edifice has weathered disasters including explosions, fires, and earthquakes, notably being rebuilt after significant damages in 1435, 1463, and the devastating 1667 earthquake. The Jewel: Rector's Palace

"If I know a song of Africa, of the giraffe and the African new moon lying on her back, does Africa know a song of me?", mused Karen Blixen in Out of Africa. I am too much of a nomad but if I ever owned a farm, as Ms. Blixen did, it would be in the Lamai Wedge - located in the triangular watershed between the Kenya border and the Mara river. Possibly the most beautiful place in East Africa. Besides being a refuge for the Great Migration after crossing the River Mara, it has great game year-round.

Until recently, no camps were allowed here, but now you can stay at the Singita Mara River Tented Camp and a few others. 

And wake up at dawn to catch the sun filtering through the clouds and mist. The Wildebeest seem a little dazed as they contemplate the scenery over the hills of Kenya while eating succulent grasses - and staying out of the way of the cheetah brothers out on a prowl, with whom we tagged along for an unsuccessful hunt. Life is tough.

Porto is a city with a unique mystique! its old buildings, colorful houses, the particularity of its wines and the joy of its people, make it a must-see.
The most exciting thing about not planning my stay was getting lost to find myself in small places rich in gastronomy, flavors that I never experienced before, local markets with the best ambient and desserts that made every minute in this city worthwhile.

1942: Errol Flynn popularised rafting down the river Rio Grande in Jamaica on bamboo rafts, made of long logs bound together. Fast forward: I'm on a raft for a 3-hour ride and sensory overload: ferns, birds, rapids, butterflies, serenading raft captain. But here’s my favorite part —

After an hour on the river, we dock at Belinda’s Riverside Restaurant, a rustic gem nestled by the Rio Grande. How does this place even exist in the middle of nowhere? Turns out Belinda and team hike a couple of hours across the hills, ingredients in tow, to set up shop each time, serving up Jamaican-style curry goat and fish (take your pick: fried, steamed, or escoveitched). Prepared with love and served alongside rice or bammy. One of my best meals in Jamaica. Call ahead to make sure Belinda’s is open on the day you visit.
