This rare-access experience is a private photoshoot with a real Maiko — a young woman apprenticing to become a Geisha. Maiko are renowned for their colorful kimono, elaborately styled hair, and refined manners. Most visitors are lucky to catch even a fleeting glimpse of them as they move quickly through Kyoto’s streets between appointments. Recent regulations protect Maiko from unwanted attention from tourists. But in this experience, you’ll have the privilege of spending relaxed, uninterrupted time photographing and engaging with a Maiko.

The photo shoot takes place at a one-of-a-kind heritage house in Kyoto – the perfect, atmospheric backdrop for the session. Under the guidance of a professional expert photographer, you’ll learn how to use both natural and artificial light to create evocative portraits. You'll also practice how to work with a live subject — learning and practicing how to pose and frame your subject to evoke emotion and tell a story through your lens. 

This fully private session offers an extraordinary opportunity to interact with a Maiko while learning professional portrait photography techniques. An entire historic house in Kyoto is reserved exclusively for your session — offering creative freedom to explore light, setting and subject. This experience traces fado through Alfama, beginning above the city at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, with Lisbon’s roofs and the Tejo spread out below. Over a glass of sparkling wine, Rita sets the context for fado in its original setting: the Lisbon of the 1830s–1840s — port workers, fishing communities, taverns, migration, and night gatherings where poetry was sung.

From there, you meander downhill into Alfama’s narrow streets, following the places and communities that shaped this urban song tradition. The evening ends in a fado restaurant for a live performance, followed by a private exchange with a singer and musicians, facilitated by Rita. Over drinks and light snacks, you speak about why they sing, what the songs say, why they evoke the feeling of saudade, and why some verses land with force when sung at close range.

A relationship-led full-day wine journey through the Médoc, shaped by long-standing ties with family estates and classified châteaux - highlighting the wine, people, and continuity.

Begin with pickup at your accommodation in Bordeaux and a drive north into the Médoc, where vineyards stretch between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic. The first stop is a family owned winery. A guided visit introduces traditional production methods, and the tasting reflects the character of a long established estate developed over generations. Continue at an unhurried pace, with time for a French style picnic before returning to the vineyards. 

In the afternoon, visit a Grand Cru Classé château listed in the historic 1855 classification, that offers insight into Médoc’s prestigious wine traditions. A final stop at another renowned classified château completes the sequence, highlighting a different expression of the region's wines.
