You begin near the Colosseum, capturing its form from elevated viewpoints where Roman pines and shrubs frame the monument in unexpected ways. We begin our journey with a glass of vermouth or cava, a Spanish sparkling wine, in a historic ultramarinos in the Eixample, recently named one of the most beautiful shops in the world. Here, we'll discuss the development of the area and its singular architectural style. From there, we stroll to another historic venue, nestled in a first-floor modernista apartment. It boasts an outdoor terrace, perfect for further drinks and engaging conversation.

The final stop of the tour is a real gem – a singular modernista building with a breathtaking entrance. Here, after the guide has shown them the premises and explained its fascinating history, guests (without the guide) will enjoy a three-course meal with wine in a sumptuous private dining room.

This hands-on class invites you to don an apron and unleash your culinary creativity. You’ll learn how to prepare a “proper” empanada that would earn a nod from any Porteño (Buenos Aires local). And where there are empanadas, there’s wine—your glass will stay full throughout. The session ends with two Argentine sweet favorites: dulce de leche and alfajores.

You’ll begin with a short introduction to Amal’s mission—supporting women from vulnerable backgrounds by training them in the culinary arts. Its Jewish thinkers were central to the city’s role in translating classical texts into Latin and Arabic.

For João, the true essence of the Algarve lies in its sensory landscape and the stories attached to it.
“In my youth,” he recalls, “many people came here, to the Algarve, and my family—like many others—had small farms. I spent a lot of time working on these farms growing carob, figs, almonds, and olives.” These daily rituals shaped his relationship to the land. “Everybody knows the Algarve for its oranges,” he adds, 
remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”
What João wants travelers to experience is that same connection: the gestures and flavors that tie people to place. “We still recognize these things—the tradition of fishing, the dry fruits, the rituals of picking and preparing. This is what I want travelers to connect with.”
Still, he knows it's not always simple. “The Algarve is quite diverse. It’s not just one story. A good connection to the people here is important. Travelers are interested in how we live, how we spend the day, what we do.” This itinerary is João’s answer to that challenge: an immersive route where nature, food, craft, and memory guide the pace.

I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. Weather forecast? Fair, says Harry, the winds will blow away the clouds and midges.

Highlights from the photo-hike: ☀️Awe-inspiring view of Loch Cleat (above). 💦 Scrambling over the steep cliffs on springy heather. 🐾 Checking out the structures that have been named — The Needle, The Prison, The Table — and naming those that haven’t. ⚡️Noting the exact moment when the weather turns on us. ❄️ Getting shrouded in mist and fog, and unwittingly playing hide-and-seek at the top of the ridge (this is, after all, where locals hid their sheep from raiding Vikings). 💨 Howling winds over 50 mph trying to gust us off the slopes. 💧Rain coming down in full force. ☁️ Feeling my spine tingle as clouds swirl around me in this unreal landscape.

Pinacoteca di Brera is one of Milan's most prestigious art galleries, housing a significant collection of Italian and foreign art from the 13th to the 20th century. Located in the Palazzo di Brera, which dates back to the late Baroque period and was built on the remains of a 14th-century monastery, the Pinacoteca shares its space with the Academy of Fine Arts. Why is this a cool place to visit?
Historical Significance: The gallery was born out of a political action, distinct from other major Italian museums that originated from private collections of monarchs or noble families. The Brera Gallery was officially established in 1809, although its first collection existed from 1776 alongside the Accademia di Belle Arti, instituted by Maria Theresa of Austria. 

Notable Masterpieces: The Pinacoteca di Brera's collection includes several world-renowned masterpieces. Some of the top paintings housed in the gallery are "The Marriage of the Virgin" by Raphael, "The Feast in the House of Simon" by Paolo Veronese, "Supper at Emmaus" by Caravaggio, "Last Supper" by Peter Paul Rubens, and "The Kiss" by Francesco Hayez.
