Bertie, an English Sommelier, and Aby, an Argentine chef, are a Buenos Aires-based couple dedicated to sharing food, wine, and excellent company. Aby has been cooking traditional Argentine food since she was a child — helping at family gatherings — and Bertie has worked as a professional sommelier since 2008. 

The couple met by chance in Rio de Janeiro in 2014. What began as conversations about flavors and cultures soon grew into a partnership rooted in curiosity and hospitality. The Bay of Biscay is famous for its beautiful coastline, beaches, and food. At Mundaka you'll stop off for a panaromic view, which changes dramatically between low tide and high tide. You'll then be taken to the historic town of Bermeo for a walking tour.

Heading inland you'll find two examples of Basque artistry. Santimamiñe is a cave that contains Paleolithic paintings and engravings dating back 14,000. These depictions of bison, horses, and deer give us a glimpse into a prehistoric world. This cave is only accessible April-October. Meanwhile, nearby, in the Bosque de Oma you'll find pine tress painted by Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola in the 1980s.  The geometric shapes, eyes, animals, and colorful forms you'll find here change depending on where you're standing, playing with your perspective in the forest.

This journey captures the essence of the Basque Coast in a way that blends scenery, culture, and cuisine. In Santorini, we discover and fall in love with Vinsanto, the local dessert wine. So we drive up to Hatzidakis - a charming and intimate local winery - to check out the local grapes. The vines grow low to the ground and close to the road and we almost drive into them while looking for parking. 

The grapes are grown in an unusual way, not in arbors but low to the ground, in baskets made of vine stalks themselves. They are organic and are watered mostly by dew as the island has low water supply.

The tasting room is cave-like and we take home several bottkes of the small batch Vinsanto they produce.

Vinsanto

The Dubrovnik Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is a monumental baroque masterpiece in the heart of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Baroque: Dubrovnik Cathedral

Naples, Italy, is home to Spaccanapoli, the city’s most famous and historic street that slices through the heart of the ancient center. This narrow, bustling thoroughfare is more than just a road—it’s a journey through Naples’ rich history, culture, and daily life. Spaccanapoli

Rising majestically above Athens, Mount Lycabettus offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of the city, stretching to the Aegean Sea. At 277 meters (908 feet) above sea level, it’s the highest point in Athens, making it a prime spot for breathtaking sunsets and unforgettable vistas of landmarks like the Acropolis, the Panathenaic Stadium, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Steeped in legend, the hill is said to have been created by Athena herself. 
1. The summit provides sweeping views of Athens and beyond, especially magical at sunset or night when the city lights sparkle. 
2. At the peak, a small, whitewashed chapel called the Chapel of St. George adds to the charm of the hill. It’s a serene spot for reflection and a great photo opportunity. 
3. Visitors can enjoy a meal or coffee at the mountaintop restaurant, blending fine dining with natural beauty. 
4. The open-air Lycabettus Theater hosts concerts and performances during the summer, adding a cultural touch to the experience. 
5. Visitors can hike up the winding trails for a more adventurous approach or take the cable car from Kolonaki for a comfortable ascent. 
Visitor Tip: Plan your visit for late afternoon to enjoy the sunset and city lights. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes if you decide to hike.

Mount Lycabettus

Someone described #Churchill as “the warmest coldest tundra town”. It is a friendly, curious town. It also claims to have 300 days of northern lights. 

Basically, if you happen to be in Churchill on a clear night, prepare to wake up, dress up in layers (quickly), and be enthralled. 

Last Sunday night, when most had turned back in after what looked like an “average” aurora display, we waited and were rewarded with lovely green ribbons and curtains.

Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts) nestled in the historic Plaza del Museo, is Andalusia's crown jewel and Spain's second most prestigious art museum after Madrid's Prado. Established within the walls of the former Merced Calzada Convent from the early 17th century, this museum showcases an unparalleled collection that spans from the Gothic era to the 20th century, with a special focus on the Sevillian school of the 17th century. Its comprehensive collection features masterpieces by artists such as Murillo, Valdés Leal, Zurbarán, and El Greco, alongside works from foreign painters like Jan Brueghel the Elder, Pieter Aertsen, and Cornelis de Vos​​​​​​​​. We cannot recommend it enough - for these reasons:
1. The museum is renowned for its Baroque art, particularly highlighting the Sevillian School's golden age with works by Murillo and his contemporaries. It is a testament to the flourishing of arts in Seville during the Siglo de Oro, Spain's Golden Century​​.
2. Beyond its art, the museum itself, originally a monastery, is a masterpiece of Andalusian Mannerist style. Its structure, centered around three patios and connected by a grand staircase to the church, showcases the architectural legacy of Seville.
3. You can marvel at iconic works such as "The Annunciation" by Alejo Fernández, a seminal piece of the Sevillian Renaissance, and Zurbarán’s "Saint Hugh in the Refectory". The museum's collection spans several rooms, each dedicated to different periods and styles, from medieval jewels to Baroque compositions and Andalusian costumbrism​​​​.
4. The museum serves as a cultural crossroads, where the religious themes of early works give way to the secular, vividly depicting Andalusian life in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with scenes of local customs, bullfighting, and fairs, offering a window into the soul of Andalusia​​.

Seville Museum of Fine Arts

Essaouira, Morocco, is renowned for its bohemian spirit and vibrant art scene, making it a magnet for creatives, free spirits, and art lovers. Since the 1960s, when icons like Jimi Hendrix and Cat Stevens frequented the city, Essaouira has blossomed into a hub for hippie culture and contemporary Moroccan art. Today, its winding medina streets are dotted with eclectic galleries, artisan workshops, and laid-back cafés, all infused with a relaxed, seaside vibe.

Pitti Palace, Florence's most significant palace, exemplifies the city's artistic and historical richness. Originally built by the Florentine banker Luca Pitti in the 15th century, it was acquired by the Medici family and became a symbol of their power. Top 5 highlights:
