This 3.5-hour architectural tour of Valparaíso, Chile, is led by local architect and master of urban planning Jaime Núñez. Jaime (also known as Ja Cariocandino) will introduce you to the city’s layered identity through a tour structured around ten public spaces that—in his expert opinion—are architecturally remarkable. The tour includes transport by private vehicle, punctuated by short walks designed to deepen your understanding of the urban landscape and local community.

Valparaíso's distinctive topography—with steep hills surrounding a narrow coastal plain—has shaped how people live, move, and build here. Rather than focusing on tourist hubs, Jaime’s route centers on spaces that have emerged organically through civic use and historical need. Highlights include plazas, markets, housing developments, and hidden side streets that form the city's lived core. He’ll explain how these spaces emerged with the expansion of the flat part of the city: El Plan, or the “Horn” of Valparaíso.

The Lunissanti of Castelsardo is one of Sardinia’s most unique Holy Week traditions, with medieval origins. As night falls, the town’s lights dim, and a torchlit procession winds through the ancient streets, creating an atmosphere of deep spirituality.

The Confraternity of Santa Croce, known as the Apostuli, carries the Misteri, symbols of Christ’s Passion, while three traditional choirs sing hauntingly beautiful sacred chants: the Miserere, Stabat Mater, and Jesu. Gianmario Pedroni is a photographer and a Sardinian choir member. After honing his skills in England, he specialized in advertising, fashion, and design, working with prominent photographers and brands. In 2009, he returned to Sardinia to establish his studio, where he captures the region’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture while actively participating in local traditions as a member of a traditional choir.

Co-hosted by a local couple with a combined 20 years of experience in astro-tourism, this astronomy experience takes place beneath some of the clearest night skies in the world in a boutique observatory installed at a private residence on the outskirts of San Pedro de Atacama. Comfort is of utmost priority: you will first be seated in a cozy lounge where Juan Pablo will devote 30 minutes to the fundamentals of astronomy. After warming up over hot beverages and local liqueur, you will be ushered outside to the telescope area and invited to survey the night sky for celestial objects with Valeria.

This observatory contains two state-of-the-art Dobsonian Telescopes (16' and 12'), which enable you to see planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Valeria will demonstrate how to use the telescopes and point out a variety of celestial objects over the course of the session—note that items spotted is dependent on the conditions/season. Hammock chairs are provided for maximum comfort!

This is an intuitive and highly personalized stargazing experience hosted by a bilingual local couple. Valeria and Juan Pablo wouldn't dream of relying on a script. Besides being experts in regional astronomy and ecosystems, your hosts know to read the room; they will tune in with your level of knowledge and adapt the activity accordingly. For budding skywatchers who have never seen a telescope, this is your opportunity to pose those lingering questions you may feel shy to ask in a large, shared tour. Seasoned stargazers can improve their understanding and sharpen their technical ability in a private observatory setting.

There is no photoshoot in this experience. Rather than spending time posing for photos, Valeria and Juan Pablo dedicate the entire session to sharing knowledge, wisdom, and passion for the night sky. While operating her tour business, she has fostered deep roots in the community. Her expertise lies in the region's natural history, from its intricate geology and flora to wildlife (in particular, its avifauna), to its astronomy. She worked as a senior astronomy guide at the largest privately-owned observatory in San Pedro for five years before developing this astronomy venture with her husband, who has worked as an astronomy guide for over 15 years. This half-day wine and gastronomy experience in Mendoza includes a wine tasting, olive oil factory tour and tasting, and a delicious lunch in the middle of the Argentine countryside. This links together three artisanal staples of Mendoza’s table — wine, olive oil, and bread. 

The first stop is a tour and tasting at a traditional winery carefully selected by Julieta. This winery is a small-scale affair and remains in the hands of the original family. You will enjoy a personalized tour joint-hosted by Julieta and a wine expert from the estate, learning about the production methods and hearing about how the oenologists blend their latest releases.

A special tour to see how Seville artisans use centuries-old techniques and lifelong expertise to produce exquisite pieces for religious events and rituals. 

Act 1: Bordado (Embroidery): Visit the workshop of a renowned artisan to witness the meticulous restoration of ceremonial vestments and regalia for processions of the Catholic fraternities in southern Spain, mainly centred around Semana Santa (Holy Week).

Step into a Kurdish family home in Istanbul for an intimate Dengbej storytelling and dinner experience. Dengbej is a traditional Kurdish music style where singers recount epic tales of history, love, and loss using only their voices in an a cappella-style performance. You’ll start with a neighborhood walk, getting to know the local Kurdish community, before gathering around the family table for a home-cooked Kurdish dinner, prepared by the host’s mother.

As you tuck into your meal, a professional singer will perform a variety of Dengbej songs that convey the struggles and resilience of the Kurdish people, reflecting their historical, social, and cultural experiences. Once forbidden during periods of repression in Turkey, Dengbej has survived through clandestine performances and oral transmission. This experience allows you to delve into the origins and nuances of this vibrant art form while hearing the stories of a Kurdish family based in Istanbul.

This experience offers a rare chance to engage with Dengbej storytelling in a private Kurdish home, surrounded by warmth and hospitality. This experience is hosted by Barış Baver and his Kurdish family, who warmly welcome guests into their home for an evening of storytelling, music, and food. Baver, an entrepreneur and cultural curator, is passionate about preserving Turkish and Kurdish traditions. He grew up immersed in Kurdish heritage, learning from his mother’s culinary wisdom and local traditions. His home has become a space where travelers can experience authentic Kurdish hospitality, sharing meals, stories, and culture in an intimate setting.

By the time the activity is complete, your print will be ready to take away. No prior experience or skills in drawing or printmaking are necessary. To conclude your trip to Concón, Marcela will serve a light "once" of tea and pastries as well as recommending local seafood restaurants in the "Gastronomic Capital of Chile".

The experience provides rare access to the home studio of a professional Chilean artist. Marcela Rodriguez is a contemporary multi-media artist. Born in 1965, Marcela grew up living in lighthouses with her lighthouse-keeper father along the rugged Southern Chilean coast. The vast Patagonian landscape and turbulent Pacific Ocean greatly influenced her. While in college, she discovered street theatre and performed with two important Santiago theatre troupes.

In 1992, Marcela moved to Minneapolis, USA, and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and an MFA in painting and drawing. In 2001, she moved back to Chile and developed a passion for printmaking, focusing on lithography. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout Chile, Mexico, Cuba, and the USA.

Marcela has completed two art residencies for printmakers, including a month-long one in Veracruz, Mexico at La Ceiba Grafica in 2018 and with renowned artists from “Taller 99” in Santiago, 2019. She currently lives and works as a visual artist in Concon, Chile, and teaches at Casa Plan in Valparaíso.

Australians love vintage – which makes Newtown the heaven for vintage clothes, cameras, vinyl records, and much more. I’ve got some new sandals, a polaroid camera, and jewelry, all unique pieces at an amazing price. Worth the hype!

You can easily get there by train, it's just a ride from Town Hall, or simply stay a few days in one of the hostels in Newtown.

Picasso Museum Barcelona

The riad sends a donkey called Couscous to meet us and pick up the luggage; the taxi will only go so far into the medina. 

As our merry procession winds through the narrow, confusing alleyways, we panic slightly. No problem, says a djelleba-clad staff member, you’ll have a map and cell phone to call if you’re lost. But he graciously accompanies us to our dinner booking and explains how we should get back to the riad. We leave invisible bread crumbs along the way – kebab shop, sweets stall, bakery etc. 

After a long meal, at 11:30 pm, the souks have closed, the streets look very different, and our bread crumbs have obviously gone to bed. It takes two wrong turns and much poring over the map before we find our way back. Our sense of adventure is fully piqued. 

Inside, the restored riad is palatial, with courtyards, heated pool, tiled terraces and stylish artwork. Breakfast is whenever you want, and wherever, says the charming Afaf. 

Shall we move in permanently, we wonder.

The spectacular Mayan ruins of Tikal overrun by miles of  unspoiled jungle are extraordinarily rich in wildlife incl. the elusive jaguar. 🐆 

It’s one of the few UNESCO World Heritage sites that combines both cultural and natural richness and the 500+ sq km contains numerous remains of the Mayan civilization scattered across wetlands, savannah and tropical jungles teaming with birds and monkeys.

It was a thrilling experience to wander in a place that was one of the great cities of the world around 700 AD and wonder how people lived at that time. 

We went late afternoon to take advantage of the magical light falling on the structures and our guide, Daveed, was very helpful in highlighting the important sites and the life at that time. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the top of Temple IV. A perfect filming location for Yavin 4 in Star Wars.

After the sunset, we walked in the fading light to the spectacular Grand Plaza, relieved in Daveed’s assurance that the 🐆 is shy of humans.

Pyramids of Tikal

Essaouira, Morocco, is home to the mystical Bordj El Berod, the ruins of a 17th-century watchtower that stands dramatically along the windswept coastline just south of the city. Shrouded in legend, this partially submerged fortification is believed by some to have inspired Jimi Hendrix’s song “Castles Made of Sand.” As the sun sets, the silhouette of the crumbling tower against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean creates one of the most breathtaking views in Essaouira, making it a must-visit spot for photographers and nature lovers alike.

Visitor Tip: Visit during low tide for the best access to the ruins and bring sturdy shoes, as the terrain can be rocky. Don’t forget a light jacket—the coastal winds can get chilly in the evening.
