As a culinary historian who has taught the history of Turkish cuisine at İstanbul Medipol University, Banu's deep knowledge and insights will guide you through the Grand Bazaar's hidden culinary delights, as she shares insights into the origins and cultural significance of each dish. Chile

This full-day photography excursion takes you to two contrasting natural wonders in the Atacama Desert of Chile: the Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna) and Rainbow Valley (Valle del Arcoiris). It is hosted by Mirko, a professional photographer specializing in landscapes and wildlife and a licensed guide. Upon leaving San Pedro de Atacama, Mirko will pull over at one of his favorite viewpoints to appreciate the sunrise over the Andes mountain range. While sipping coffee and sharing a breakfast of marraqueta bread rolls, you'll warm up your photography skills for the day by shooting the soft morning light. 

You will then explore the ravines and dunes of Moon Valley, coming to understand how it earned its name. After lunch at a local restaurant in San Pedro de Atacama, you'll head to the Cordillera Domeyko to study the 3,000-year-old petroglyphs of Yerba Buenas before ending the day in the multi-colored Rainbow Valley.

Mirko has selected these two locations for their contrasts. The morning is spent exploring the salt mines, rugged amphitheaters, and sweeping dunes of Moon Valley where Mirko will explain the geological anomalies. By visiting early in the day, you're spared the inevitable afternoon crowds and have a more relaxed photographic experience. 

The afternoon takes place at two of the Atacama Desert's hidden treasures: Yerbas Buenas and Rainbow Valley. Yerbas Buenas (Hierbas Buenas) is an open-air exhibit of pre-Columbian rock carvings which provide insight into ancient Indigenous cultures. Mirko will explain the symbolism behind the petroglyphs and how these served as more than pretty pictures! In Rainbow Valley, the mountains are painted hues of red, green, white, yellow, and blue as a result of the oxidation of different mineral deposits over millions of years. You will arrive in time to catch the soft light of the waning sun. Lunch in town serves as a way to chat informally with Mirko.

You’ll begin in front of one of Shepard Fairey’s (Obey) murals, the starting point of an itinerary filled with murals painted by international and Portuguese artists.

As you navigate Graça’s steep alleys and stairways, you’ll learn why this district became a canvas for so many art pieces, discover spots that once served as important cultural meeting points, and experience the vibrancy that defines the neighborhood today.

Along the way, you’ll pause at some of the city’s most iconic miradouros, taking in sweeping views over Lisbon’s rooftops and river. Together, they offer an unapologetic, authentic voice on Lisbon’s street art scene, connecting visitors not only to the works on the walls but also to the people and forces that keep the city’s creative spirit alive.

You leave San Sebastián by private transport and drive west toward the coast, where the Basque Country’s food culture begins in daily routines. In Zarautz, you walk through the local market as residents shop for fish landed that morning, seasonal vegetables, and cured meats that anchor home cooking. Your host explains how people here buy food day by day, and why seasonality matters.

From the coast, you head inland to the hills where txakoli vineyards cling to steep, terraced slopes. At a small, family-run winery, you see how this lightly sparkling white wine is made from native grapes shaped by Atlantic weather. The tasting is informal and direct, focused on method, land, and continuity.

Txakoli (pronounced cha-ko-lee) is a white wine that embodies the maritime and mountain character of the Basque Country and sits at the center of this experience. Made for centuries from indigenous grapes, it reflects the meeting of Atlantic weather and steep terrain. Traditionally served young and poured from a height to aerate it, txakoli evolved to accompany local food. The winery you visit is hand-picked for its artisanship and quality — a family-run estate, well away from mass tourism.

Cider, or sagardoa, carries an equally deep history. Present in Basque rural and maritime life since at least the 11th century, it anchors a social ritual built around shared tables and long meals. The txotx remains a living custom — binding food, drink, and hospitality into a single cultural expression.

In private transport from San Sebastián, you’ll head to the nearby coastal town of Zarautz and visit the Mercado de Zarautz, its lively local food market. During the Age of Exploration, Basque sailors and whalers carried barrels of cider on long sea voyages from ports like San Sebastián and Pasajes. Today, Basque cider is a protected regional product with an official Denomination of Origin (Sagardoa Euskal Sagardoa), established in 2016. Producers blend traditional techniques with modern quality standards, emphasizing natural fermentation and authentic flavor.

The Coffee Triangle - which includes the pueblo towns of Salento and Filandia - has its own culture, diversity, food and of course, coffee.

I was told that I would find the best cup of coffee in the world in Colombia’s Zona Cafetera. I found some of the tastiest beans in little vintage cafes with vintage coffee machines. The coffee plantations nearby offered tasting sessions too. Part of the fun Is to climb on the back of a colorful Jeep to get to the plantations.

On the Coffee Road, in the colorful town of Salento, the biggest attraction - besides the coffee and the arepas - is its traditional architecture of one- and two-story buildings, with walls painted white, and doors and window frames in the brightest of candy colors.
