First of all, we will meet with the attendees at our puppet museum located in, Faikpaşa Caddesi which is full of old buildings, antique and creative stores. We will make a small tour for the collection we have in the puppet museum from all over the world. After the small tour, we will have local tea and cookies with the attendees. We will start to explain the written history that we have from the beginning 16th century: how Karagöz traveled, how he expanded and how he lives today.  
Then we will get our tools to experience the process of making: 
- Deciding which part of Karagöz will be made, 
- shaping the camel leather with special tools(cutting, carving, piercing) 
- Painting the figure

Over 20 years ago, Maestro José lost his sight to glaucoma. What could have been an end became a beginning. Relying on touch, intuition and memory, he continued sculpting—his hands guided by a sense of form that doesn’t require vision. Today, he’s internationally recognized not only for his work, but for the spirit behind it. His ability to craft such detailed and expressive pieces without sight has earned him the moniker "manos que ven"—hands that see. 

Unlike many of Oaxaca’s 70+ pottery communities, where skills are passed down generationally, Maestro José is self-taught. He began by making animals from clay as a child. His greatest collaborator is his wife, Maestra Teresita, who adds the details to his sculpted forms. Their work is a living love story—quietly powerful and unlike anything else.

Their adult children now contribute their own custom pieces, and the family workshop also includes a tattoo studio upstairs—proof that creativity here takes many forms.

In an interactive language class led by a native Náhuatl speaker from the community, travelers will learn the basics of this ancient language. The class is designed to not only teach the language but also to provide an immersive understanding of the cultural significance behind the words and expressions used by the Náhuatl people. 

During your tour through the fields, your hosts will also point of wild plants still used today for their medicinal and flavorsome properties. This is part of their domestic conservation of traditional knowledge. In addition, guests will assist the community in removing litter from the fields and roadsides.

In the town, you will be hosted by Guillermina Ríos Palma, a speaker of the San Mateo Almomoloa dialect of Náhuatl. She has stood out for her dedication to preserving her native tongue. She has participated as a lead collaborator in linguistic documentation projectssuch as the Náhuatl Dialectology Project led by the National Institute of Indigenous Languages. She has also been active in compiling vocabulary to safeguard linguistic memory. Guillermina is an authentic and proud Indigenous woman who, along with her family, is always willing to share her lifestyle and the deep connection her community has with nature.

The experience starts in Campo San Geremia in Cannaregio, the district that became home to Venice’s Jewish community in the 16th century. A first stop in Parco Savorgnan helps you picture the area before the Ghetto was established, when this part of the city stood at the edge of urban life. From there you enter the Ghetto itself, pausing at a contemporary gallery that keeps Jewish cultural presence active today, linking past scholarship with present creativity.

You step inside a Sephardic synagogue to understand ritual life and the distinct traditions that coexisted within the Ghetto. A cicchetto stop recalls everyday sociability along the canals.

Campo dei Mori and the walk along Fondamenta Ormesini trace the perimeter of the Ghetto and the waterways that once marked its night boundaries. Continuing onto the Fondamenta della Misericordia, one of the longest canal-side walkways in Venice, shows how closely the Ghetto was integrated into the neighborhood of Cannaregio.

Lucia is among the very few guides in Venice officially authorized to lead visits inside the city’s historic synagogues. When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”

1. Visit the Cromeleque dos Almendres, one of Europe’s oldest and largest stone circles, dating back to 4000 BC. This oval arrangement of 95 standing stones, located near Évora, is thought to have served as a ceremonial or astronomical site and offers a mystifying connection to the region’s ancient past, surrounded by scenic rolling hills.

2. Discover Anta Grande do Zambujeiro, the largest dolmen (stone tomb) in the Iberian Peninsula. This monument provides insight into the burial rituals and spiritual life of prehistoric communities. The scale and preservation of the structure are impressive, giving visitors a direct encounter with Portugal’s Neolithic heritage.

3. Wander through Évora’s Roman Temple, locally known as the Temple of Diana. This well-preserved structure, dating back to the 1st century, stands proudly in Évora’s historic center and offers a unique view of Roman influence in Portugal, surrounded by medieval buildings.

4. Explore the medieval walled city of Évora, whose Gothic cathedral, Renaissance palaces, and charming plazas display centuries of history and architectural beauty. Évora’s city walls have stood since the Moorish period, and within them, a maze of narrow streets leads visitors through a blend of eras.

Tip: Start early to explore both the open landscapes of the megalithic sites and Évora’s attractions at a leisurely pace.

I am never going to climb a sand dune again. I say that vehemently (many times) as I climb Dune 45.

After 50 long, sand-filled minutes taken to trudge up, here are the lessons learned: Take slow steps. Barefoot works best. One step forward will indeed feel like two steps backward. Don’t stop. Don’t get disheartened if a sprightly guide whizzes past you in an attempt to beat his own 10 minute record. When you have reached the peak and admired the view, scream a joyful “whee-eee” and slide down the side of the dune, marveling at the roaring sound of the minor avalanche that you will create. 

Ok, can we do that again? 

Nearby is Dead Vlei / Sossusvlei. It’s a kaleidoscope of yellow and orange sands and the white of the stunning vlei. Meanwhile, the oryx are vying with each other to position themselves strategically into my shots. They seem to have no issues with climbing dunes. Then again, I don’t see them doing any joyful slides down.
