Argentina

Spoiler: this experience contains a lot of food. This 3-hour asado experience in Mendoza isn't a show, it's a rare opportunity to peek into how local families really live—and as you'll discover for yourself—food is at the forefront of the lifestyle. After being collected from your hotel, Julieta will take you to her usual neighborhood wine stores and local markets to pick up the essentials. As Julieta will tell you, part of the fun is choosing together.

Once at Julieta's home, you will partake in Argentina’s most iconic gathering: the family asado. Previa comes first— where drinks, snacks, and conversation are shared as music plays. Together, you will prepare the meat, chop the veggies, and sip wine while the embers do their thing. And after that? You will take it easy over the sacred ritual of sobremesa concluding with coffee, Fernet, and a homemade dessert. There is no need to rush and no script, just the joy of food, stories, and connection.

There is no idling around, no spectating, and absolutely no being waited on at this asado hosted at the private home of your host, Julieta. This private workshop offers hands-on access to one of Spain’s oldest and most iconic ceramic workshops: the Fajalauza factory. Founded in 1517 and still operated by the Morales family, Fajalauza has been shaping the visual identity of Granada for over 500 years.

You’ll begin with a private tour through its original production site and museum—home to ancient kilns, hand-thrown molds, and decorative pieces that reflect the fusion of Islamic and European styles. As you explore, you’ll learn how Granada’s ceramic language evolved across centuries, adapting to dynasties and shifting cultural forces while staying rooted in the local soil.

Then comes your own initiation into the craft. Guided by master artisans, you’ll sit at the potter’s wheel for a “baptism of clay,” shaping a vessel from scratch. António, an organic farmer and local product activist, is your guide to the sustainable practices of Algarve's agriculture. His expertise and passion offer a unique insight into organic farming. In addition, you will be accompanied by a guide from João’s team.

The experience begins Luca’s family home in the heart of Mamoiada. After a brief introduction in this 19th-century house, you’ll head to the vineyard just outside the village—a landscape shaped by vines, granite, and centuries of tradition.

There, among Cannonau rows and sweeping hills, stands a nuraghe: a prehistoric stone tower built by Sardinia’s ancient people, still intact after thousands of years. Beside it is a small farmhouse and a wooden patio overlooking the vines—your table for a guided tasting of three wines, including Luca’s rare Cannonau Bianco, made from an ancient cross between Cannonau and Gallòpu.

This white grape, known as Gallòpu, is now produced only by Luca in all of Barbagia. The tasting is followed by a traditional lunch: local appetizers, handmade ravioli with ragù, and slow-cooked sheep stew—a moment of pure Sardinian depth.

Luca is the only winemaker in Barbagia producing Gallòpu, an ancient white grape once nearly lost. His Cannonau Bianco is not just rare—it’s a symbol of his vision: to innovate without erasing the past, to make wines that speak both of place and of intention.

Alongside him is his father, who still tends the vines with the same hands that shaped them decades ago. Their work isn’t rushed; it follows the rhythm of the soil, the altitude, the granite. In this experience, Gisela will explain the cultural history of tango and what the dance means in modern Buenos Aires and wider Argentina. She will explain the etiquette and codes of the dance floor and terminology relating to tango—such as Ronda, Tanda, and Cabeceo. There is the opportunity to dance tango if you wish; however, this is optional. You are welcome to simply spectate and soak up the atmosphere from the sidelines. Growing up in Buenos Aires, Gisela Vidal danced her first tango at the age of 14. From there, she trained extensively in Tango Salon and Tango Stage style with the finest Argentinian Masters. Besides tango, Gisela has studied contemporary dance, jazz, belly dance, ballet, Argentine folk, and salsa. She has undertaken further tuition in theater and film acting, mime and clown art, and singing.

Gisela has participated in international tango festivals and major events including the opening of the Dakar 2009 in Buenos Aires. She was the choreographer and a stunt dancer for the Tango Infedele Video Clip. During her 20-year career, Gisela has danced and coached in over 40 countries. She co-managed a tango school in Milan and coordinated the Tango Querido School in Tuscany. She launched her own jewelry business in 2018.

There’s not much that has changed in this Square in its millennium of existence. 

Here’s a non-exhaustive list of what you’ll find: Percussionists, Acrobats, Fortune-tellers, Conjurers, Gnawa musicians, Henna tattoo artists, Food Vendors, Snake charmers, Potion peddlers, Un-winnable carnival games. 

As dusk settles over Marrakech, look up at the sky. Follow the direction of what looks like a bonfire of epic proportions. When you manage to edge past the thousands of people, you realize it’s only smoke from kebabs and snails at over a hundred barbecue stalls, staffed by some of the busiest chefs and unflappable crews you’ll ever see.

Look around the Square and locate a restaurant with a balcony. Buy a glass of mint tea and grab a coveted plastic chair at the edge of the balcony to see the grand view of the world’s largest human tableau play out below.

Hidden beneath the streets of Naples, the Galleria Borbonica is an underground tunnel system with a fascinating history dating back to the 19th century. Originally commissioned by King Ferdinand II of Bourbon as an escape route from the Royal Palace, the tunnels later served as a bomb shelter during World War II and a storage site for abandoned vehicles and artifacts. Today, visitors can explore this forgotten world beneath the city, where history, mystery, and engineering marvels come together.

Galleria Borbonica

Nafplio, Greece, is home to Karathona Beach, a serene stretch of sandy coastline located just a few kilometers from the city’s historic center. Surrounded by lush hills and crystal-clear waters, this Blue Flag beach offers a peaceful escape from the bustling streets of Nafplio. Known for its shallow waters, family-friendly atmosphere, and stunning views of the Palamidi Fortress, Karathona is perfect for a relaxing day of sunbathing, swimming, or enjoying traditional Greek cuisine at the beachfront tavernas.

Karathona Beach

Antalya, Turkey, is home to the stunning Konyaaltı Beach, a 7-kilometer-long (4.3 miles) stretch of pebbled shoreline backed by the majestic Taurus Mountains. Known for its crystal-clear waters, Blue Flag status, and vibrant atmosphere, Konyaaltı is a favorite for both locals and tourists looking to swim, sunbathe, or enjoy water sports. With its well-maintained promenade, lively beach clubs, and scenic views, it offers the perfect mix of relaxation and entertainment.

1. Turquoise Mediterranean waters provide an excellent spot for swimming, paddleboarding, and jet skiing, with lifeguards ensuring a safe experience.

2. The Konyaaltı Beach Park features cafés, restaurants, and shaded picnic areas, perfect for a relaxing meal by the sea.

3. The panoramic views of the Taurus Mountains create an incredible contrast between the deep blue sea and rugged peaks, making it a dream location for photographers.

4. Sunset walks along the beachfront promenade, lined with palm trees and cycling paths, offer a peaceful way to enjoy the coastline.

5. Nearby attractions include Aqualand & Dolphinland for family-friendly fun and the Antalya Museum, just a short drive away.

Visitor Tip: Bring water shoes, as the beach is made of pebbles rather than sand. Visit early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day and enjoy a spectacular sunset over the sea.

Konyaaltı Beach

Pyrgos is a trendy hilltop medieval village. It’s full of little winding, narrow streets constructed haphazardly on the hills alongside multi-colored houses and doors. We lose our way several times and keep looping back to the same point .. using that as an excuse to check out yet another local art gallery constructed unobtrusively into the hillside. 

During the 15th and 16th century, the locals defended themselves from pirates by erecting kastelias .. fortified buildings. Pyrgos has the best example of these medieval buildings on the island. It also has the oldest churches.

We stop at a home with a large blue door .. and the views are stunning but give an impression that Santorini is flat and covered by vineyards instead of being a caldera. 

The one fascinating feature of homes here is a long, deep chimney for ventilation. And the strong winds make howling noises through the chimneys.

In Pyrgos, we visited vineyards ... but that’s a different story.

Old Blue Doors

A short hike gets you to the picturesque pique which is gorgeous. Very pretty and worth seeing if on Maui.
