After being collected from your hotel, Julieta will take you to her usual neighborhood wine stores and local markets to pick up the essentials. As Julieta will tell you, part of the fun is choosing together.

Once at Julieta's home, you will partake in Argentina’s most iconic gathering: the family asado. Previa comes first— where drinks, snacks, and conversation are shared as music plays. Together, you will prepare the meat, chop the veggies, and sip wine while the embers do their thing. And after that? You will take it easy over the sacred ritual of sobremesa concluding with coffee, Fernet, and a homemade dessert. There is no need to rush and no script, just the joy of food, stories, and connection.

There is no idling around, no spectating, and absolutely no being waited on at this asado hosted at the private home of your host, Julieta. Likely meaning “place of coyotes,” Coyoacán was originally a village founded by the Tepanec people in pre-Columbian times. In 1521, it became the first capital of ‘New Spain’ and remained a settlement distinct from Mexico City until the 1850s. Now located in the south of Mexico City (CDMX), Coyoacán is perhaps best known today for being the home of the Frida Kahlo Museum and the impressive colonial-era architecture.

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

Together with La Giralda, its iconic bell tower originally serving as a minaret, the cathedral offers visitors a journey through centuries of religious, cultural, and architectural evolution. Completed in 1934, this iconic palace seamlessly blends Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles on the outside, with a lavish interior featuring murals by Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, and David Alfaro Siqueiros. Known as the cultural heart of Mexico City, it hosts performances by the National Opera and the Ballet Folklórico de México while also serving as a museum and exhibition space for visual arts.

Tarragona

Catalonia, Spain, is home to the La Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, a stunning natural reserve featuring over 40 ancient volcanic cones and 20 lava flows. Known for its rich biodiversity, lush forests, and dramatic landscapes, this park offers a peaceful escape for hikers, nature lovers, and photographers. With its well-marked trails, charming medieval villages nearby, and unique geological formations, La Garrotxa is one of Spain’s best destinations for exploring the beauty of dormant volcanoes.


1. Hike to the summit of Santa Margarida Volcano, where a small Romanesque chapel sits dramatically in the center of its ancient crater.

La Garrotxa Natural Park

Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is famous not only because it is the largest coral reef in the ocean, but also because it is the most beautiful one. For those who like snorkeling or diving, an unsurpassable underwater world opens up.

My highlight in Australia was definitely the day trip to the reef. From Cairns, we took the tourist boat out to sea. Since the water is relatively cold, you get a wetsuit and then have hours to discover the unique underwater world.

I saw sharks, turtles, huge colorful corals, man-sized fish, thousands of small schools of fish, a clam, rays, snails, and lots of underwater plants.

Remember that you are a trespasser in the underwater world, so be careful not to touch or destroy anything. Use organic sunscreen and always be respectful of your surroundings.

The world’s largest reef

Mexico City, Mexico, is home to Templo Mayor, the heart of the ancient Aztec capital, Tenochtitlán. Discovered beneath the Zócalo (main square) in the 1970s, this archaeological site and museum showcases the remains of the Aztecs' most sacred temple, dedicated to Huitzilopochtli (god of war) and Tlaloc (god of rain). Walking through the ruins, visitors can imagine the grandeur of the Aztec empire before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors.


1. The ruins of the main pyramid, which was built in seven layers over centuries, revealing the evolution of Aztec architecture.

2. The massive stone of Coyolxauhqui, a spectacular carved disc depicting the dismembered moon goddess, a key figure in Aztec mythology.

3. The Serpent Heads, large stone sculptures of feathered serpents (Quetzalcóatl) that once adorned the temple's walls.

4. The Templo Mayor Museum, housing thousands of artifacts, including ceremonial knives, offerings, and an impressive collection of Aztec sculptures.

5. Views of the Metropolitan Cathedral, which was built using stones from the destroyed Templo Mayor, showing the powerful contrast between Aztec and Spanish colonial history.

Visitor Tip: Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and explore at a leisurely pace. Pair your visit with a walk around the Zócalo and enjoy a meal at a rooftop restaurant with a view of the historic center!

Templo Mayor

The Akrotiri Lighthouse, perched on the southwestern tip of Santorini, is one of the island’s most iconic and scenic landmarks. Built in 1892, this historic lighthouse is renowned for its stunning views of the Aegean Sea and dramatic sunsets. While the lighthouse itself is not open to the public, the surrounding area offers a peaceful and picturesque spot to admire the rugged coastline and soak in the natural beauty of Santorini. 
1. The panoramic views from the lighthouse are breathtaking, offering sweeping vistas of the caldera, the Aegean Sea, and the cliffs of Santorini. 
2. The sunset experience here rivals that of Oia, but with far fewer crowds, making it a more tranquil and intimate spot to watch the day end. 
3. The lighthouse is a historic landmark, representing one of Greece’s oldest and most beautiful lighthouses, with its classic whitewashed design blending harmoniously with the rugged landscape. 
4. The surrounding cliffs and coastline create a dramatic backdrop, perfect for photography and quiet reflection. 
5. The area is easily accessible by car or scooter, and the short walk to the lighthouse offers lovely views along the way. 
Visitor Tip: Plan to spend 30 minutes to 1 hour at the lighthouse, especially during sunset for incredible views and photo opportunities. Bring sturdy shoes if you want to explore the rocky surroundings and stay for the golden hour to capture the lighthouse and caldera bathed in soft light.
