Alex’s earliest memory is a family visit to Tijuana—an experience that sparked a lasting fascination with the people and heritage of Mexico. While at university, he focused his studies and research on the Hispanic cultural heritage of the American Southwest and Mexico.

Argentina

This 3-hour cooking class teaches you how to make Argentine empanadas in the home of a local couple in Buenos Aires. Stuffed with meats, cheeses, vegetables, and more, these savory pastries are a beloved national symbol. Empanadas vary across Argentina, and you’ll want to ask Diego and Camila how the Buenos Aires style differs from those in provinces like Salta, Tucumán, or Córdoba.

There’s no more satisfying way to experience a place than by cooking and dining with locals who live it every day. This hands-on class invites you to don an apron and unleash your culinary creativity. You’ll learn how to prepare a “proper” empanada that would earn a nod from any Porteño (Buenos Aires local). This walk begins at Piazza Navona and moves through some of Rome’s most atmospheric backstreets. You’ll pass through winding alleys where the city’s layers come alive—ancient pathways, tucked-away courtyards, and places that feel both unexpected and strangely familiar.

Highlights include the widest alley, the steepest slope, and the narrowest passage in the historic center. Some alleys are so narrow they feel like corridors between buildings—unnamed, uneven, and often missing from standard navigation apps. The route includes streets with unusual names and corners shaped by archaeology, local lore, and centuries of lived history.

Leading the walk is Isabella, a licensed guide and art historian with deep roots in the city. Her focus isn’t on tourist landmarks but on spaces where time has settled quietly. Chile

This 3-hour photography experience takes place on the periphery of Valparaíso in the Playa Ancha district. Upon meeting your host in a storied cafe, you'll warm up over coffee while shooting textured interiors and panoramic vistas from the roof terrace. David will then weave you past pastel-hued mansions from the 19th century and neighborhood bakeries, sharing photography tips and anecdotes.

A leisurely gander brings you to Paseo 21 de Mayo—one of Valparaíso's most enthralling viewpoints. It's wise to carry cash should you wish to purchase a souvenir from the street vendors who you'll liaise with through Daniel. The route then passes through narrow streets adorned with murals and "playful" photo spots where you have a choice of sampling a completo (Chilean hot dog) or empanada and an ice cream with humble origins and a curious legacy. The experience ends at the oldest mansion on Cerro Artillería—a photographic treasure trove—where you may opt to stick around for lunch or a Pisco Sour.

He has an experimental style and a keen eye for spotting easily-missed details He has a special ability to see the potential in the simple aspects of local reality and culture, and always seeks to capture them in an original way through his photography. He works with a Canon DSLR, using 50mm and 18-55mm lenses for regular shots and a 300mm lens to capture distant subjects with clarity and depth.

The experience begins with a visit to the archaeological site of Akrotiri, often called the "Pompeii of the Aegean." Preserved under volcanic ash, this extraordinary Bronze Age settlement reveals paved streets, two-storey buildings, and vibrant wall paintings that trace the life of a refined society. Walking through the excavated city with Kostas, you’ll visualize the everyday life, the architecture of homes and workshops, and the sudden eruption that changed everything.

You’ll then head to Megalochori, a village shaped by Cycladic architecture and local traditions. As you explore its winding paths and hidden courtyards, Kostas shares stories of merchants, farmers, and the ways the village has adapted over time.

As you set sail from Burano, let the peaceful canals of the island of Torcello take your breath away. Then, delve into the lagoon's tranquil sandbanks, where Andrea will unveil the secrets of the lagoon's diverse bird species, and the aromatic plants that have been used in Venetian cuisine for centuries and are still employed by contemporary Venetian chefs to create unique dishes and liqueurs.  You will have plenty of opportunities for photos and foraging. At the end of the tour, Andrea will drop you off near the Burano traghetto stop. This tour is perfect for nature and photography enthusiasts, and those seeking a short yet immersive exploration of the Venetian lagoon, far from the madding crowds. 

From Venice to Burano, it's a 20-25 minute ride by private water taxi (can be booked via your hotel) or a 45 minute ride on the public vaporetto (runs from 5 AM onwards, check exact time with hotel).

You'll discover the flora and fauna of the Venetian lagoon by following unique itineraries known only to local fishermen, far from the typical tourist routes. Along the way, you'll find plenty of photo opportunities, with stops for foraging, a chance to observe the differences in various species of clams, and the possibility of seeing pink flamingos and other birds. Plus, in the middle of the lagoon, enjoy a delightful snack and a refreshing drink to make your journey even more memorable.

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
