As you walk through Coyoacán, you’ll stop at some of its best-loved bakeries, and cafés, sampling a mix of classic and contemporary Mexican pastries. Along the way, Marie and Manuel—both professional photographers—will help you navigate menus, share stories from the neighborhood, and capture your time together in portrait-style candid photos that feel natural and alive.

Coyoacán is known for its colonial architecture, bright colors, and village-like charm. You'll pass tree-lined plazas, street vendors, and art-filled corners where history and daily life meet. After the tour, you will receive a curated digital gallery of your time in Coyoacán, so the memories stay for a long time. 

Coyoacán means “place of coyotes” in Nahuatl, and it’s long been one of Mexico City’s most distinct districts—first as an Aztec outpost, then a colonial center, and later the home of artists and writers like Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Octavio Paz. Today, it’s a neighborhood where color, flavor, and history live side by side.

Marie and Manuel will take you to their favorite local cafés and bakeries—some traditional, some experimental—where the menu reflects Mexico’s evolving palate: matcha conchas, smoked vanilla pastries, freshly ground chocolate, local fruit compotes. Marie Fernández is a Mexican photographer who grew up in Mexico City. From 2017 to 2019, she studied photography in Paris and graduated as a photojournalist and documentary photographer. She is currently a member of the Women Photographers History collective.

Manuel is also a Mexican photographer from the city. He has worked with international media such as The New York Times and is currently contributing to The New Yorker. In 2024, he held his first solo exhibition, hosted by the U.S. Congress at the Capitol Building and funded by Amnesty International and the Open Society Foundations.

In this experience, they combine their photography skills with their passion for welcoming people to their home city and helping visitors experience the best it has to offer. With Marie and Manuel, you won’t just receive a collection of beautiful portraits from your time in Mexico City—you’ll also get to know the city more intimately and feel at home.

Leave Venice's foot-bridges behind and board a private boat from Fondamenta Nuove, where Venice brushes up against the open lagoon. This 2.5-hour excursion cruises past quiet islands and historic landmarks, offering a new perspective on the city—one shaped by wind, water, and fortification.

As you glide past the Arsenale, you’ll hear stories of how Venice once ruled the seas with a shipyard so efficient it rivaled modern factories. Unleash your inner artist (and architect) on a 3-hour sketching experience in Chile's capital of culture. Led by Jaime Núñez, a Chilean architect and urban planner born and raised in Valparaíso, you’ll explore Cerro Concepción and Cerro Alegre on foot, armed with a sketchbook and pencil. 

Jaime will teach you how to read a building, understand its symbolism, and appreciate how public and private spaces coexist in a city. Along the way, he’ll share curious tales and trivia about this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll also gain insight into how Valparaíso's unique topography has influenced its architecture and urban design, shaping the city's identity over centuries.

No sketching expertise is needed—this activity accommodates and inspires everyone to adopt the mindset of an artist. Children, novices, doodlers, and dreamers are all welcome. Templates are provided to assist with sketching.

Jaime has created Valparaíso’s only sketching walking tour, where you'll train your eye to see beyond the surface of this historic port city. Instead of taking photos, you’ll leave with a sketchbook filled with your own interpretations of its palaces, residences, plazas, and alleyways—each line and shade reflecting your unique perspective.

This immersive experience is enriched by stories that reveal the layers of a city many photograph but few truly understand. With Jaime—who never leaves home without a freshly sharpened pencil—you’ll gain a deeper appreciation of urban spaces and the communities that shape them.

Paseo Yugoslavo is located on Cerro Alegre, in the heart of Valparaíso. The lower station for the El Peral Elevator is located in the Plaza de La Justicia, next to Plaza Sotomayer. It's also possible to walk to the meeting point from the flat part of Valparaíso.

Jaime Núñez is a Chilean architect and master in urban planning. Born and raised in Valparaíso—the Jewel of the Pacific—he offers a unique perspective on this city of poets, sailors, and artists. Having studied every corner and curve of this place built on 45 hills, he shares the cultural story behind each edifice. His career took him to Brazil, where he published papers and conducted further research into the landscape of urban design. Upon returning to Valparaíso, Jaime established his own architectural firm.

Jaime never leaves home without his sketchbook and trusty pencil. His mission is to inspire creativity in every traveler who sets foot in his home city and to encourage them to look beyond the surface. A rich storyteller with a passion for people and place, his sketching and architectural experiences are filled with captivating tales.

This 4-hour private mosaic-making experience takes place in the studio of international muralist, Shannon McEvoy. Under Shannon's guidance, you will design and fabricate a personal mosaic artwork to take home as a memento of your time in Chile. You may choose to create an abstract exploration of shape and color or work from a simple design inspired by common themes in Shannon's art including Chilean flora and fauna. Improvisation is encouraged.

All necessary materials and equipment are provided and Shannon will work with you to help you bring your vision to fruition. After the activity concludes, Shannon will grout your mosaic tile and help you to arrange the pick-up from her studio 48+ hours later.

During the workshop, you'll hear about the significance of mosaics in Chile – a country famed for its street art and murals. You will also hear about Shannon's role as a mosaic muralist working in Santiago, Puente Alto (the Mosaic Capital of the Southern Hemisphere), and beyond.

This experience invites you into the private studio of an artist in Santiago to create your own Chile-inspired mosaic artwork. This may be of an abstract style or inspired by Chilean flora and fauna. You may choose to collaborate with your travel partner and create one mosaic as a team or create individual masterpieces.

Over the course of the workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of mosaic techniques as Shannon helps you assemble your artwork. As an artistic director, Shannon collaborates with Chilean muralists and champions the community aspect of creation and that art is for everyone. During this activity, you'll have the opportunity to quiz Shannon about life as a bilingual expat artist in Chile, her current projects, and how you can bring more creativity into your life. 

This bilingual mosaic masterclass is the perfect opportunity to practice your Spanish and pick up some essential "Chilenismos" (Chilean slang) for your onward travels.

Mosaic Magic

As the mosaic needs grouting after the session, participants will need to collect the completed artwork 48 hours after the experience. Otherwise, delivery to a hotel in central Santiago can be arranged with Shannon (additional cost).

This experience takes place in Shannon's studio in Providencia, Santiago de Chile. The exact address to is provided after booking. If traveling by metro, take Line 1 and alight at either Pedro de Valdivia or Manuel Montt. It's a 15-minute walk to Shannon’s studio from either station. Uber and Cabify rides are widely available in Santiago.

Shannon is a multimedia artist who loves exploring different languages and cultures, meeting new people, and listening to their stories. Originally from Minnesota, she studied abroad in Viña del Mar in 2010. The country and its people left a lasting impression on her, and she quickly returned after graduation. The street art of Valparaíso influenced her so profoundly that she incorporated Chilean muralism into her undergraduate Honors Thesis and pursued a career as a muralist.

Shannon has lived in Chile for over 10 years, where she teaches English and creates murals—but her talents don’t stop there. She also paints, sketches, makes ceramics and jewelry, designs her own clothes, and experiments with photography.

Shannon loves sharing her passions for art and language. To her, both are about expressing oneself and building meaningful connections. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks basic Portuguese.

An extensive, wine tasting experience crafted for wine lovers who want to explore Turkey's rich and diverse terroirs. It is a complementary workshop to Andrea’s ‘Turkish Wine 101’ and is designed for connoisseurs looking to dive deeper into the nuances of this ancient wine region. Andrea will guide you through a curated selection of some of Turkey's finest wines, exploring the distinct regions and climates that define them. Hosted in one of Istanbul’s top wine bars on the peaceful Asian side, the tasting includes eight wines hailing from the mineral-rich soils of Cappadocia to the rolling hills of Thrace and even as far east as Turkey's borders with Iraq and Syria. As you savor each wine, paired with small bites, you’ll learn about the country’s long winemaking history, the diverse wine-growing regions, and the fascinating stories behind small family-run wineries that continue these ancient traditions today.

This experience is located in the heart of Istanbul’s popular Moda district.

Every year on the Monday before Mardi Gras, the village of Santu Lussurgiu celebrates “Su Lunis de sa Pudda” with one of Sardinia’s most thrilling traditions. In the heart of the historic centre, fearless riders gallop through the narrow stone-paved streets in a daring race known as Sa Carrela ‘e Nanti.

The highlight? A centuries-old ritual where horsemen aim to strike two cloth hens hanging along the route, blending athletic skill and ancient folklore. You’ll be guided by an expert photographer who helps you capture the energy and beauty of the event, while introducing you to locals who’ve lived this tradition since childhood. The streets come alive with Sardinian songs, colors, and stories.

The day ends with a hearty lunch in a typical spot, where you’ll taste local recipes in a warm, rustic setting. Santu Lussurgiu, nestled among the Montiferru hills, is a timeless village rich in charm and tradition.

San Mateo Almomoloa, located in the southwestern region of the State of Mexico, is home to one of the most distinct Nahuatl dialects still spoken today. Náhuatl is one of 68 indigenous languages in Mexico, and its speakers take great pride in sharing their ancestral knowledge and traditions.

During this full-day experience, you will travel by car from Mexico City to this community, where your adventure begins. During your tour through the fields, your hosts will also point of wild plants still used today for their medicinal and flavorsome properties. In the town, you will be hosted by Guillermina Ríos Palma, a speaker of the San Mateo Almomoloa dialect of Náhuatl. She has stood out for her dedication to preserving her native tongue. She has participated as a lead collaborator in linguistic documentation projectssuch as the Náhuatl Dialectology Project led by the National Institute of Indigenous Languages. She has also been active in compiling vocabulary to safeguard linguistic memory. Guillermina is an authentic and proud Indigenous woman who, along with her family, is always willing to share her lifestyle and the deep connection her community has with nature.

The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”
