This photography experience takes place in the small coastal city of Concón, cocooned in the cliffs north of Valparaíso. You will explore three fragile ecosystems: the Concón Wetlands (Humedales de Concón), La Roca Oceánica (Ocean Rock), and the Dunes of Concón (Dunas de Concón). At each, you'll photograph flora and fauna under the mentorship of David, a local creative who grew up amid this windswept beauty spot. 

The experience takes place in the late afternoon and concludes with golden hour and sunset at the Dunes of Concón. Starting at the reed-lined wetlands, you'll encounter such birdlife as pelicans and perritos (white-backed stilts). Afterwards, you'll pause for coffee and empanada at Surf Beach (Playa La Boca). Frequented by local surfers—David included—this is an opportunity to flex your "moving target" skills! A small hike through the surreal dune system brings you to a vantage point from which you can take in panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Viña del Mar.

Concón is a hidden gem in Chile's Valparaíso Region. Inhabited by artists, families, young professionals, surfers, and gourmands, the city has a bohemian ambiance minus the bustle of its mother city. In this experience, you will visit the kinds of places locals hang out at weekends. From strolling along the wetlands—a beloved spot for birding and picnics—to cheering on surfers catching their first wave, this experience imbeds you into the village-like community. Considered the Gastronomic Capital of Chile, Concón is a foodie hub and you'll have the opportunity to sample a delicious empanada.

Meet David at the entrance of the Ecological Park (Parque Ecologico La Isla) in Concón, next to the roundabout. Uber is widely available from Valparaíso and Viña del Mar and the park is easily accessible from the main road.

Growing up amid the windswept dunes of Concón and the bohemian streets of Valparaíso kindled David's appreciation for photography, nature, and art. He graduated from the University of Playa Ancha and went on to work as a Software Engineer, while flexing his skills behind the lens. 

As a self-taught photographer, David has honed his talent working with both landscapes and portraiture. He has an experimental style and a keen eye for spotting easily-missed details He has a special ability to see the potential in the simple aspects of local reality and culture, and always seeks to capture them in an original way through his photography. He works with a Canon DSLR, using 50mm and 18-55mm lenses for regular shots and a 300mm lens to capture distant subjects with clarity and depth.

David draws upon his extensive archive of travel photography experiences while mentoring those visiting Valparaíso on how to capture the beauty of a location and why you should look beyond what's at eye level.

Mexico

In a town best known for its embroidery, one family quietly shapes a different legacy—through pit-fired clay. This intimate experience invites you inside the home workshop of a renowned family of artisans in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca. Their work is whimsical, tactile and deeply personal—guided by tradition, memory and resilience.

You'll witness how the creations are meticulously crafted using traditional techniques and unique vision. The pieces, celebrated for their intricate details and cultural significance, have garnered international acclaim, and are featured in museums, documentaries and books.

You'll meet the artists, learn about their process, and witness how their hands bring form to feeling. The visit includes time to explore their collection and workshop, as well conversation about how creativity can be a lifeline in the face of adversity. Afterward, you'll stop at a popular roadside comedor for handmade Oaxacan dishes and agua fresca—simple, local, full of flavor.

Over 20 years ago, Maestro José lost his sight to glaucoma. What could have been an end became a beginning. Relying on touch, intuition and memory, he continued sculpting—his hands guided by a sense of form that doesn’t require vision. Today, he’s internationally recognized not only for his work, but for the spirit behind it. His ability to craft such detailed and expressive pieces without sight has earned him the moniker "manos que ven"—hands that see. 

Unlike many of Oaxaca’s 70+ pottery communities, where skills are passed down generationally, Maestro José is self-taught. He began by making animals from clay as a child. His greatest collaborator is his wife, Maestra Teresita, who adds the details to his sculpted forms. Their work is a living love story—quietly powerful and unlike anything else.

Their adult children now contribute their own custom pieces, and the family workshop also includes a tattoo studio upstairs—proof that creativity here takes many forms.

Ehren Seeland is a Oaxaca-based creative with a background in art and design and journalism, who travels the globe for professional and personal pursuits. A long-term resident of Oaxaca with family ties to the city, her passion for regional produce, traditional skills, and social impact makes her a fantastic host for the culturally curious and socially minded traveler.

Through all of her projects—including Hecho, a marketplace of artisan-made goods from natural materials—Ehren maintains an active focus on supporting Mexican ancestral traditions through handmade product development, including textiles, pottery, homewares, and other works. Her projects also place special emphasis on supporting women and indigenous communities.

Co-hosted by a local couple with a combined 20 years of experience in astro-tourism, this astronomy experience takes place beneath some of the clearest night skies in the world in a boutique observatory installed at a private residence on the outskirts of San Pedro de Atacama. Comfort is of utmost priority: you will first be seated in a cozy lounge where Juan Pablo will devote 30 minutes to the fundamentals of astronomy. After warming up over hot beverages and local liqueur, you will be ushered outside to the telescope area and invited to survey the night sky for celestial objects with Valeria.

This observatory contains two state-of-the-art Dobsonian Telescopes (16' and 12'), which enable you to see planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Valeria will demonstrate how to use the telescopes and point out a variety of celestial objects over the course of the session—note that items spotted is dependent on the conditions/season. Hammock chairs are provided for maximum comfort!

This is an intuitive and highly personalized stargazing experience hosted by a bilingual local couple. Valeria and Juan Pablo wouldn't dream of relying on a script. Besides being experts in regional astronomy and ecosystems, your hosts know to read the room; they will tune in with your level of knowledge and adapt the activity accordingly. For budding skywatchers who have never seen a telescope, this is your opportunity to pose those lingering questions you may feel shy to ask in a large, shared tour. Seasoned stargazers can improve their understanding and sharpen their technical ability in a private observatory setting.

There is no photoshoot in this experience. Rather than spending time posing for photos, Valeria and Juan Pablo dedicate the entire session to sharing knowledge, wisdom, and passion for the night sky. Their commentary leans towards modern cosmology and scientific discovery. Winter sessions include more discussion of the Andean worldview and Indigenous practices.

This experience is co-hosted by Valeria Heindl and Juan Pablo Rivas. Valeria is a passionate naturalist and conservationist who has resided in San Pedro de Atacama for over a decade. While operating her tour business, she has fostered deep roots in the community. Her expertise lies in the region's natural history, from its intricate geology and flora to wildlife (in particular, its avifauna), to its astronomy. She worked as a senior astronomy guide at the largest privately-owned observatory in San Pedro for five years before developing this astronomy venture with her husband, who has worked as an astronomy guide for over 15 years. Japan

Journalist and photographer Toshiko takes you on a time-slip through centuries of Edo–Tokyo history, visiting businesses that have survived generations of upheaval — earthquakes, fires, and bombings. You'll visit shops and restaurants founded during this transitional period (perhaps even a sushi shop first opened in 1702), with stops along the way for a snack or light meal.

Tokyo is a city that has been razed and rebuilt many times, by both manmade and natural disasters. This walking tour focuses on a part of Tokyo where businesses and traditions have persisted since the era when the city was known as Edo and home to the Shogun. This area is home to many shinise — family-run businesses that have operated continuously for generations, some tracing their roots to the 17th century.

Japan's modern story begins after the fall of the Shogunate in the late 19th century, when the new Meiji government struggled to establish itself after centuries of isolation had left the country behind.

Florencia Campos Correa, or Flor, is a Chilean-Spanish textile designer and author based in Santiago. Her business, Ullvuna, is dedicated to portable pin loom weaving kits which are available globally. Much of Flor's inspiration comes from her passion and appreciation for Chilean culture and people. She needed an internship for her thesis and chose Barcelona without expecting how quickly she’d feel at home.“Barcelona, 22 years ago, was a different place,” she says. “It was less cosmopolitan, more local. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Someone described #Churchill as “the warmest coldest tundra town”. It is a friendly, curious town. It also claims to have 300 days of northern lights. 

Basically, if you happen to be in Churchill on a clear night, prepare to wake up, dress up in layers (quickly), and be enthralled. 

Last Sunday night, when most had turned back in after what looked like an “average” aurora display, we waited and were rewarded with lovely green ribbons and curtains.

This church complex and Dominican convent are globally renowned for housing Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, "The Last Supper," within its refectory. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980, it continues to draw global visitors. Key highlights:
1 - The foundation of Santa Maria delle Grazie dates back to 1459, when Count Gaspare Vimercati donated land to the Dominican friars of Sant'Eustorgio. The construction of the convent and church commenced in 1463, under the chief architect Guiniforte Solari. Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, later played a pivotal role in expanding and beautifying the complex, transforming it into a mausoleum for the Sforza family.
