The route continues to Tapalpa, a Pueblo Mágico of whitewashed walls and timber balconies. You wander its plaza and visit selected artisans. 

Later, at the Enigma Valleys, giant stones stand scattered. Alejandro shares local legends — of spirits, giants, storms — that have made this site both sacred and mysterious. You understand why these boulders are more than geology: they’re reminders of endurance.

It’s a full day — mountain air, conversation, cultural heritage, and a sense that Jalisco belongs to those who live its rhythm.

The road from Tapalpa climbs gently toward the Valle de los Enigmas, also known as the Valle de las Piedrotas — this is the highlight of the tour. Here, colossal monolithic Giant Stones stand as silent guardians in a vast natural amphitheater, inviting visitors to marvel at their intriguing shapes and legends. Each is the size of a house, weathered into shapes that seem both natural and intentional.

No one knows for certain how these stones arrived here. Geologists suggest ancient volcanic activity — basalt expelled and sculpted by erosion. Locals tell other stories: that the rocks were meteorites, or that giants once played here, leaving the stones as toys abandoned mid-game.

This walk through Chartrons traces Bordeaux’s wine-trading past, culminating in a tasting inside the historic négociant museum. The walk begins at Esplanade des Quinconces, where Victoria introduces Bordeaux as a city shaped by its river and by centuries of maritime commerce. The Chartrons quays, a stretch of 18th-century façades, once framed the work of wine merchants and brokers linked to the Port de la Lune.

Turning inland, Rue Notre-Dame shows how trade and domestic life overlapped: cellars below, families above, and today antique shops that echo the district’s merchant past. The church of Saint-Louis des Chartrons and nearby market square mark a neighborhood built around exchange, storage, and early structures of Bordeaux’s wine economy.

Tim Cowley, a former professional rugby player from New Zealand, moved to Europe in 2003, originally planning to stay for just one year. Travel quickly became central to his life, and after retiring from rugby in 2012, he chose to focus on his passion for wine, travel, and French culture.

Florencia Campos Correa, or Flor, is a Chilean-Spanish textile designer and author based in Santiago. Her business, Ullvuna, is dedicated to portable pin loom weaving kits which are available globally. Much of Flor's inspiration comes from her passion and appreciation for Chilean culture and people. She deeply admires the landscapes and nature as well as the ancient fables she absorbed as a child while traveling every corner of Chile by caravan with her family.

Flor has authored several books packed with vibrant pattern inspiration and projects. Her nature motifs are translated into floral crochet designs published in a British magazine and she has penned a children's story which inspires creativity and entrepreneurship in the youngest of budding designers.

The walk from the castle to Metelkova Mesto, including the cable car ride, can take around 20-30 minutes considering all waits and walking distances.

San Telmo Market

Stintino, a small fishing village in northwest Sardinia, is home to La Pelosa Beach, often regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. Known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and powdery white sand, La Pelosa is a paradise for beach lovers and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Sardinia. With its iconic views of the Torre della Pelosa, a 16th-century watchtower, and the dramatic backdrop of Asinara Island, this area combines natural beauty with historical charm.

Chile’s Puritama Hot Springs are a hidden oasis in the Atacama Desert, offering a series of geothermal pools surrounded by lush vegetation in an otherwise arid landscape. Located about 30 km (19 miles) from San Pedro de Atacama, these natural thermal baths are rich in minerals and maintain a soothing temperature between 28–33°C (82–91°F). With wooden walkways connecting the pools and breathtaking canyon views, Puritama provides a relaxing and rejuvenating experience in the heart of the desert.


1. Eight natural geothermal pools, each with different temperatures, offer the perfect mix of relaxation and revitalization.

2. Mineral-rich waters are believed to have therapeutic benefits, helping to relieve muscle tension and improve circulation.

3. A scenic desert canyon setting, where the contrast between the green riverbanks and the surrounding dry hills creates a stunning backdrop.

Museo Correr, located right on St. Mark's Square, offers a deep dive into the historical and artistic evolution of Venice. Top reasons to visit:
1: Historical Evolution: The Museo Correr traces its origins to the collection donated by Teodoro Correr in 1830. Over the years, it has grown into a comprehensive exhibit that chronicles Venice's political and military history. Each room is a chapter in the story of the Republic, showcasing everything from naval battles to daily governance.
2: Artistic Treasures: The museum's art collection is a journey through Venetian painting and sculpture, featuring works from the Byzantine to the Renaissance periods. Museo Correr

Antelope Canyon may be the most famous of Utah’s slot canyons,  but if you want to avoid the large crowds, go to Buckskin Gulch - harder to reach but possibly, more enjoyable.

Wire Pass, a gorge carved through the Cockscomb by Coyote Wash, is the most popular entry route into Buckskin Gulch. It takes 1.7 miles to get to the slot canyon from the trailhead. Wire Pass is short, less than half a mile, but its slot canyon is even more confined than Buckskin, and makes for spectacular photos.

Buckskin Gulch twists its way for another 13 surreal miles, but we turn back after a couple of miles to head back to the trailhead. We’ve stopped every few feet to capture various angles of the rock and light - and literally run out of time. You could certainly do a wonderful all-day hike here.

Through the Wire

Santa Maria del Mar, known as the "Cathedral of La Ribera" in Barcelona, is a sterling example of pure Catalan Gothic architecture, distinguished by its harmonious proportions and serene ambiance. Completed rapidly for a medieval church, between 1329 and 1384, it maintains a stylistic purity rare for the era due to its construction within just 55 years. The church's interior, marked by its vast, open spaces and the widest column spacing of any Gothic church in Europe, creates an impression of sublime width, height, and airiness​​​​. It’s our favorite church in Barcelona, here’s why:
1: The church's interior is notably sparse in imagery, a result of damage from a fire in 1936 during anticlerical disturbances. Despite this loss, including the destruction of the Baroque retable by Deodat Casanoves and Salvador Gurri, some stained-glass windows from various periods have survived, contributing to the church's luminous atmosphere​​.
2: The basilica's design boasts very tall slender columns that are 13 meters apart, supporting three naves of equal height. This unique structural approach contributes to the church's feeling of spaciousness, with its maximum height matching its total width at 100 medieval feet​​​​.
3: Rooftop Terrace Tour: Available from May to October, the tour offers insights into the church's construction, history, and the surrounding La Ribera neighborhood. 
4: Santa Maria del Mar is a beacon of Barcelona's rich maritime and mercantile history. Its pure Catalan Gothic style, and the communal effort symbolized by the 'bastaixos' carved on its doors, speak to a deep connection between the city's people and this venerable basilica. 
The church is located in La Ribera and welcomes visitors daily, with cultural visits and guided tours available in multiple languages.

Santa Maria del Mar

Nestled between the historic fortresses of San Sebastian and Santa Catalina, La Caleta Beach is a picturesque urban retreat that encapsulates the soul of Cádiz. This beach, the smallest among Cádiz’s urban beaches, forms a natural cove that has served as a peaceful harbor since Phoenician times. Its golden sands and gentle waves invite you to relax and soak in the serene atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a tranquil sunset stroll.
Best Times to Visit and Activities: La Caleta Beach is a year-round destination, with the summer months from June to October being ideal for swimming. The beach fills with life as locals and visitors alike bask in the sun or enjoy the cool waters. Evenings at La Caleta are particularly magical, as the setting sun paints the sky in pastel hues. Beyond swimming, the beach's calm waters are suitable for kayaking.
Cultural Significance: La Caleta Beach is steeped in history and culture. The Spa of Our Lady of La Palma and Real, a notable structure on the beach, now houses the Underwater Archaeology Center. The beach's proximity to Cádiz’s old town means you're never far from exploring the city's rich heritage, from the majestic castles that guard the beach to the vibrant local neighborhood of La Viña.
Exploring Further: A walk along the causeway to San Sebastian Castle offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the city. Although the castle itself has been closed to tourists for some years, the walk remains a highlight.

Portugal’s Vila Viçosa, located in the Alentejo region, is a charming town known for its rich royal history, elegant architecture, and marble heritage. The town’s highlight is the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa (Paço Ducal), a grand Renaissance-style residence that once belonged to the powerful House of Braganza, Portugal’s last ruling dynasty. Surrounded by cobbled streets, historic churches, and marble-clad buildings, Vila Viçosa is a must-visit destination for history lovers and photographers alike.


1. Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa, a magnificent 16th-century palace featuring lavish interiors, royal furniture, and extensive art collections.

2. Marble-clad streets and buildings, as Vila Viçosa is famous for its high-quality local marble, which has been used in Portuguese monuments, including Lisbon’s Jerónimos Monastery.

3. The Royal Chapel, located within the palace complex, contains beautiful baroque altars and sacred artifacts.
