Immerse yourself in the enchanting Carnival of Tempio Pausania, or Carrasciali Timpiesu, on Sunday, February 15. The highlight of this vibrant celebration is a grand parade featuring the whimsical, symbolic marriage of Re Giorgio (the king of Carnevale) and Mannena (a beautiful local woman). 

After meeting your local guide, Gianmario Pedroni, you’ll enjoy a typical lunch learning about the Carnival traditions, before joining the parade at 3 PM. Re Giorgio eagerly awaits Mannena, accompanied by the lively Tempio City Band and a dazzling array of allegorical floats.

As the streets come alive with colorful floats from both local and visiting towns, you'll be treated to a unique spectacle of performers embodying famous characters in a humorous and irreverent style. Revel in the colorful costumes and masks that reflect Sardinian heritage.

This experience is very exclusive: Led by the official photographer of the event, Gianmario Pedroni, you will be able to access special areas closed to the public to see and photograph the parade up-close. As the son of a local float constructor, Gianmario shares insight into behind-the-scenes stories of the artisans and their work. Starting the tour at his studio allows you to see and hear the stories of his previous work.

Gianmario Pedroni is the official photographer of the Carnevale of Tempio Pausania. After honing his skills in England, he specialized in advertising, fashion, and design, working with prominent photographers and brands. In 2009, he returned to Sardinia to establish his studio, where he captures the region's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. As the son of a float constructor, Gianmario has always been closely involved in the creation of the floats and continues to collaborate in their construction. 

Prepare for an enchanting early morning start from Trieste driving to a local sheep farm (some dates have an early afternoon start). Key highlights include:

Meet your host, Eric, at the first venue of your multi-course experience. After learning about seasonal ingredients, enjoy your first course of seasonal dishes and become familiar with the type of sake that goes best with it.
After a relaxing time at the first venue, Eric will lead you to another of his favorite restaurants  to sample more seasonal dishes in another chic location, again paired with Japanese sake.

Throughout the evening, Eric shares fascinating and useful information about Kyoto cuisine which will add to your dining experience through your stay in the city. The seasonal menu changes around May/June and Oct/Nov; enjoy a completely different experience at least twice a year.

Nestled on the northeastern slopes of Athens’ Acropolis, Anafiotika is a charming and historic neighborhood that feels like a Cycladic island village transported to the heart of the Greek capital. Built in the mid-19th century by stonemasons from the island of Anafi, who came to Athens to help construct King Otto’s palace, this neighborhood is a tranquil oasis of whitewashed houses, vibrant bougainvillea, and narrow, winding streets. Its unique blend of Cycladic architecture and urban history offers visitors a serene escape from the city’s bustling energy. 
1. The neighborhood’s homes feature signature white walls, flat roofs, and brightly painted shutters, reminiscent of the Greek islands. Despite being in the shadow of the Acropolis, Anafiotika retains its island-inspired charm. 
2. From many spots in Anafiotika, visitors are rewarded with sweeping vistas of Athens, stretching to the Aegean Sea. Sunset here is particularly magical.

Jake’s is a Jamaican treasure. In fact, where it’s located is actually called Treasure Beach. 

Getting there from Montego Bay Airport takes a full two and a half hours on rough country roads - more than three if you stop at the jerk chicken place as we did. We stayed in a colorful bohemian cottage on the sea and tasted our first Ackee and Codfish - Jamaica’s breakfast dish - here. 

The evenings are for crooning to live music - reggae or calypso — before falling asleep to the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks literally at your feet.
