This full-day tour introduces you to the cultural heritage of Chile’s Atacama Desert, the world's driest non-polar desert where landscapes comprise volcanoes, salt flats, geysers, and lagoons. Hosted by Mirko, a bilingual guide, you will venture into remote valleys to learn about the Atacameños (the "people of the region") and explore a little-known archaeological site. The purpose is to connect with the local community and understand how the people of the Atacama have adapted to this demanding yet beautiful environment.

The morning is spent with a community where many individuals hail from the Lickanantay ethnic group. You will walk alongside llama herders while hearing tales about ancient Andean life and how the worldview is upheld. Next, you will oversee a clay-making workshop before dining on a lunch typical of this region. The afternoon is spent at the Tulor Archaeological Site, learning about of the architecture, society, and life of the early Atacameños.

The experience is a rare access invitation to connect with the people who descend from a 10,000-year-old culture steeped in agriculture, animal husbandry, and the cosmos. Once a semi-nomadic tribe, this civilization adapted over the years and developed advanced agricultural techniques.

Mirko first invites you to participate in the typical day of the Lickanantay people by joining a llama herder on a mindful walk during which they'll share stories about their lifestyle. By observing the molding and firing of clay, you'll hear how a connection is forged between people and land. You'll try it for yourself and take away a piece of worked clay. 

After dining on a lunch of quinoa, corn, pataska, and herbs from the highlands, it's time for the history lesson you wish you'd had at school. Predating the Incas, the Tulor Archaeological Site is one of the oldest pre-Columbian sites in the Americas. As you walk amid the adobe ruins, Mirko will explain evidence of social organization and rituals.

Italy

This experience begins with a walk through the historic center of Tempio Pausania, known as the “City of Stone” for its granite buildings. The route leads to the old railway station, a Liberty-style building opened in 1931, with original wooden interiors and pictures by Sardinian artist Giuseppe Biasi.

The highlight is a private, exclusive performance by the Coro Gabriel, one of Sardinia’s oldest vocal ensembles. They sing the tasgia, a rare polyphonic chant that evolved from the UNESCO-listed canto a tenore. Unlike its predecessor, the tasgia features all four voices singing lyrics and includes improvisational shifts in tone and harmony, echoing elements of jazz. With fewer than twenty practitioners left, this is a rare chance to hear it live.

Gianmario, a native of Tempio and a member of the choir, shares insights into this evolving tradition. His ties to the group offer an intimate perspective on Sardinian culture, set in the town that has long been the cultural heart of Gallura.

What makes this experience special is the rare chance to meet the singers themselves and hear the tasgia performed in a setting that enhances both its sound and meaning. This chant survives only in northern Sardinia, and is normally preserved within small, tight-knit communities. Here, it opens up to you.

The performance takes place inside Tempio’s old train station, a quiet, evocative building from the 1930s. It's the only public site in Sardinia where you can still see original murals by Giuseppe Biasi, one of Sardinia’s most important painters, whose work shaped the island’s modern visual identity.

Gianmario, the bass voice of the choir, welcomes you into this world not as a spectator passing by, but as a guest who is invited to immerse in the shared emotion of it. His role in the group opens the door to an intimate exchange with the other singers, offering rare access to a tradition that continues to evolve—yet remains deeply rooted in place.

After honing his skills in England, he specialized in advertising, fashion, and design, collaborating with prominent photographers and brands. In 2009, he returned to Sardinia to establish his studio, focusing on the island's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. He is also a singer in a traditional choir that performs the tasgia, one of Sardinia’s rarest polyphonic chants, and has long been immersed in the region’s musical heritage, especially the vocal traditions of Gallura.

Spain

This full-day tour begins in Bilbao and takes you by private car through the landscapes, towns and cultural memory of Basque Country — from industrial past to prehistoric art, from coastline to forest.

You start at the Bizkaia Bridge in Getxo, a UNESCO World Heritage site and symbol of the region’s industrial legacy. From there, continue inland to Guernica, the town made famous by Picasso's legendary anti-war painting - find out how the area was impacted by the Civil War.

Next, the road turns coastal. You'll visit fishing villages and dramatic viewpoints along the Bay of Biscay — beaches beloved by surfers and headlands featured in Game of Thrones. A seasonal Basque lunch highlights local flavors.

Later, the magical Bosque de Oma where trees are adorned with paintings, awaits, as do the Santimamiñe caves, home to prehistoric art. End the day with txakoli tasting overlooking vineyards, as your guide helps reflect on how each stop brought you closer to Basque Country's unique spirit.

The Basques are among Europe’s earliest known inhabitants, with evidence suggesting people lived here over 200,000 years ago. Your first stop will be to the Puente Bizkaia, one of the area's most iconic industrial monuments. This is a great starting point for understanding the Basuqe Country's industrial history and character. From the top, you'll also get stunning views of the river and surrounding valley. In the town of Getxo (which the bridge takes you to) you will see examples of 19th mansions, built by the wealth accumulated by the area's industrial magnates.

Next, you'll be driven to Guernica, the subject of Picasso's anti-war and anti-fascist painting which hangs in Madrid's Reina Sofia. Here, you'll be taken on a walking tour through the town and into the assembly house. This provides the perfect excuse to find out more about Basque culture, history, and language. 

This experience brings together the two forces that have most shaped the Basque Country: industry and politics. The Puente Bizkaia is not just an engineering marvel, but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site that represents the region’s transformation into an industrial powerhouse. Bilbao History 101

The Bay of Biscay is famous for its beautiful coastline, beaches, and food. At Mundaka you'll stop off for a panaromic view, which changes dramatically between low tide and high tide. You'll then be taken to the historic town of Bermeo for a walking tour.

Heading inland you'll find two examples of Basque artistry. Santimamiñe is a cave that contains Paleolithic paintings and engravings dating back 14,000. These depictions of bison, horses, and deer give us a glimpse into a prehistoric world. This cave is only accessible April-October. Meanwhile, nearby, in the Bosque de Oma you'll find pine tress painted by Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola in the 1980s.  The geometric shapes, eyes, animals, and colorful forms you'll find here change depending on where you're standing, playing with your perspective in the forest.

This journey captures the essence of the Basque Coast in a way that blends scenery, culture, and cuisine. Mundaka is legendary for being home to one of the longest left-hand breaks in the world, making it a pilgrimage site for wave-riders. Yet the experience doesn’t stop at natural beauty—the town of Bermeo adds a vibrant cultural layer.

The cave and forest add another dimension completely. Here, you'll see art 14,000 years old, as well as paintings on living tress. These are two dramatically different examples of art and culture interacting with nature, and provide an opportunity to witness the full length and breadth of Basque culture.

Before being taken back to Bilbao, you'll go to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an islet connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge, home to a 10th century hermitage. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was made famous thanks to its use as a location for the Season 8 of Games of Thrones.

This region is legendary for its cuisine. M'Angel will take you to a hand-picked spot, either inland or by the coast, depending on the season, where you'll enjoy beautiful wines and regions dishes of the highest quality. 

You'll get to enjoy some choice regional wines and pintxos at a txakoli winery. Txakoli wine tends to be white and is known for its citrusy and herby palate.

This experience blends cinematic landscapes with the region’s distinctive wine culture. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is one of the most breathtaking sights in northern Spain—a craggy island crowned with a hermitage that has stood for over a thousand years. This ceramics experience takes place just outside the adobe town of San Pedro de Atacama, in a quiet natural setting with views of volcanoes and the Martian-like plains of the world’s driest desert. A short 10-minute drive brings you to the outdoor workshop site, where host Antonia welcomes you with all the materials needed to create your own stoneware piece using ancestral Atacameño clay.

Throughout the session, you’ll shape a personal keepsake inspired by the desert’s landscapes, plants, and animals—guided by Antonia, who shares insights into the cultural and historical roots of ceramics in the Atacama region. The workshop encourages a slower, more mindful engagement with place and craft.

No previous ceramics experience is needed; Antonia offers step-by-step support. Afterward, your piece will be glazed and kiln-fired, then shipped to your preferred address. The session also includes a light breakfast shared with your host Antonia in this striking desert setting.

Antonia Del Pedregal is a ceramic artist based in San Pedro de Atacama. She has lived in the adobe town for six years, spending the past four creating sculptures and functional pieces inspired by the desert landscape. Antonia preserves Indigenous molding techniques while working with a local clay she has adapted to suit her own style and needs.

Before following her heart north, Antonia briefly worked in advertising and later as a pastry chef in Puerto Varas. Although cooking remains one of her passions, she found her true calling in San Pedro after a chance encounter with ceramics and stoneware. Primarily self-taught, Antonia draws inspiration from the stark landscapes, resilient nature, and connections she has built with the Atacameño community. She is passionate about sharing her craft with visitors, offering a window into the land and traditions that shape her work.

Dive into the enchanting world of ELIURPI, a realm where artistry and craftsmanship merge to create stunning hats and sculptural pieces. This unique gallery visit in the heart of Barcelona's old town offers an insider's view into the artist's studio, a space not usually open to the public. Hear about Eli's and Nacho's journey from sewing small hats to crafting a universe of artful creations, using natural materials and traditional techniques. The studio is a testament to how the traditional is transformed into contemporary. During the visit, you'll see both finished works and ongoing projects, exploring the evolution of Eli's and Nacho's art. Supported by the Michelangelo Foundation and recognized as Best of Spain by AD 2023, her creations are a tribute to Mediterranean traditions and craftsmanship. Guided by passionate fisherman Andrea Rossi, this journey is designed to immerse you in the natural wonders of the lagoon in just three hours. 

As you set sail from Burano, let the peaceful canals of the island of Torcello take your breath away. Then, delve into the lagoon's tranquil sandbanks, where Andrea will unveil the secrets of the lagoon's diverse bird species, and the aromatic plants that have been used in Venetian cuisine for centuries and are still employed by contemporary Venetian chefs to create unique dishes and liqueurs.  You will have plenty of opportunities for photos and foraging. At the end of the tour, Andrea will drop you off near the Burano traghetto stop. If you are interested, ask Andrea about his family’s lace shop where you can learn about Burano lace, as you explore the island on your own. 

This tour is perfect for nature and photography enthusiasts, and those seeking a short yet immersive exploration of the Venetian lagoon, far from the madding crowds. 

From Venice to Burano, it's a 20-25 minute ride by private water taxi (can be booked via your hotel) or a 45 minute ride on the public vaporetto (runs from 5 AM onwards, check exact time with hotel).

You'll discover the flora and fauna of the Venetian lagoon by following unique itineraries known only to local fishermen, far from the typical tourist routes. Along the way, you'll find plenty of photo opportunities, with stops for foraging, a chance to observe the differences in various species of clams, and the possibility of seeing pink flamingos and other birds. Plus, in the middle of the lagoon, enjoy a delightful snack and a refreshing drink to make your journey even more memorable. 

Andrea is a genuine steward of Burano’s fishing culture, including employing ancient fishing techniques and gathering edible plants from the mudflats. We spend nearly four amazing hours in the Sand River Circuit in the midst of a spectacular head of grunting wildebeest. Led by “collective intelligence”, these animals complete a 1000 mile loop over the course of a year, and most survive for several seasons of this tough journey! 

When we arrive in the Grumeti Reserves, further south, we find the last few hundred thousand or so wildebeest. Here they are extremely purposeful and move in a single-file. Perhaps they have realized that they are late and will miss out on all the new green grass in the northern plains. They kick up a storm of dust as they move forward with determination - though it is not unusual to see the whole herd running swiftly back if something ahead spooks them. 

It is here that we see the consequences of the ‘battle’ - injured animals or those too weary to complete the journey. This is sad to watch as they will soon become easy prey to the predators. 

Such is the ⭕️ of life.
