This private ceramics experience invites you to create a mate drinking gourd from scratch. Over the course of 3.5 hours, you will learn about the entire process of modeling and decorating ceramics, culminating in a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home and relive your time in Mendoza with every sip. While you shape and create your personalized gourd, you will sip on mate chosen by Lucila. Sharing mate (a caffeinated herbal beverage) is an integral component of Argentine culture and you'll come to understand why. The experience is further complemented by a spread of facturas and chipá (local pastries). 

No previous pottery experience is needed—all you need is a desire to enjoy, learn, and share. As the finished ceramic gourd must be fired after the workshop, you will need to collect it one week later or arrange to have it shipped. This cost is not included in the price of the experience. 

Engaging with such as artisanal process as ceramics provides a rare opportunity to connect with an ancient tradition. You may also be surprised by the feeling of wellness the experience creates—Lucila's goal is to inspire a sense of serenity. 

Designed by a local artisan in Mendoza, this craft experience focuses on the culture of mate as much as the pottery aspect; you'll make a mate gourd of your own while sipping the drink cherished by Argentinians from all corners of the country and all walks of life. As you taste mate, hear its significance, and sculpt your own little gourd, you'll graze on facturas Mendocinas and come to recognize how these pastries differ from region to region. Upon "graduation" you can continue the tradition of mate on your future travels and share the custom with loved ones back home. Lucila Quevedo is a ceramic artist from Mendoza who has been teaching classes in her workshop for 7 years. She is passionate about the craft of ceramics and focuses on artisanal techniques. Through her work and teachings, she seeks to transmit the essence of this art form and inspire others to explore their creative side. 

Please bear in mind that the workshop is hosted in Spanish. Travelers can take this as an opportunity to practice their Spanish in a warm, creative environment. Non-Spanish speakers are invited to use Google Translate or DeepL as a means of supporting communication with Lucila. 

Greece

Begin your day in Pyrgos, once the capital of Santorini, where winding alleys and whitewashed chapels unfold into views that stretch across the island. From this village perched on a hill, you’ll head to Megalochori, a lesser-known village carved into an ancient erosion bed. Here, cave dwellings and small artisan workshops offer a glimpse into everyday island life, layered with history and tradition.

The experience deepens with a live performance at Symposion, a cultural space set in a restored winery. Surrounded by mythological stories and the resonance of handmade ancient instruments, you’ll be immersed in a musical encounter that echoes the island’s distant past.

Andrea B., trained in Madrid, directed a gallery focused on contemporary painting and currently leads a national program supporting creative industries.

Andrea V., educated in Granada and with a master’s in Curatorial Studies, leads a consultancy that develops exhibition projects and advises on cultural strategies.

Together, they offer in-depth experiences grounded in their knowledge of the local arts scene and strong ties to artists, curators, and institutions. Chile

This photography experience takes place in the small coastal city of Concón, cocooned in the cliffs north of Valparaíso. You will explore three fragile ecosystems: the Concón Wetlands (Humedales de Concón), La Roca Oceánica (Ocean Rock), and the Dunes of Concón (Dunas de Concón). At each, you'll photograph flora and fauna under the mentorship of David, a local creative who grew up amid this windswept beauty spot. 

The experience takes place in the late afternoon and concludes with golden hour and sunset at the Dunes of Concón. Starting at the reed-lined wetlands, you'll encounter such birdlife as pelicans and perritos (white-backed stilts). Afterwards, you'll pause for coffee and empanada at Surf Beach (Playa La Boca). Frequented by local surfers—David included—this is an opportunity to flex your "moving target" skills! A small hike through the surreal dune system brings you to a vantage point from which you can take in panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Viña del Mar.

Concón is a hidden gem in Chile's Valparaíso Region. Inhabited by artists, families, young professionals, surfers, and gourmands, the city has a bohemian ambiance minus the bustle of its mother city. In this experience, you will visit the kinds of places locals hang out at weekends. From strolling along the wetlands—a beloved spot for birding and picnics—to cheering on surfers catching their first wave, this experience imbeds you into the village-like community. Considered the Gastronomic Capital of Chile, Concón is a foodie hub and you'll have the opportunity to sample a delicious empanada.

The experience culminates at the region's best-kept secret: the Dunes of Concón. Regardless of your photography level, the creative potential is endless and David will help you capture stunning images and shoot portraits. As a self-taught photographer, David has honed his talent working with both landscapes and portraiture. He has an experimental style and a keen eye for spotting easily-missed details He has a special ability to see the potential in the simple aspects of local reality and culture, and always seeks to capture them in an original way through his photography. He works with a Canon DSLR, using 50mm and 18-55mm lenses for regular shots and a 300mm lens to capture distant subjects with clarity and depth.

David draws upon his extensive archive of travel photography experiences while mentoring those visiting Valparaíso on how to capture the beauty of a location and why you should look beyond what's at eye level.

This 2.5-hour cultural excursion takes you beyond the souvenir stores and into the minds of the makers. The majority of the experience is spent exploring Mendoza’s only artisan market where every single item is made at the hands of native communities and Mendocino families, often using methods passed down through the ages. Hosted by Julieta, a bilingual guide, you will have the opportunity to converse with craftspeople producing top-quality leather goods, gaucho apparel, handwoven crafts, and more. Every artisan has a story to share and this experience facilitates meaningful conversations that flow.

Julieta has also curated a leisurely stroll through the city's boutiques where she'll help you find thoughtful, authentic gifts that represent Mendoza's soul. Catedral de la Santa Cruz

The Agora Open Air Museum is a window into İzmir’s ancient Roman history, featuring the remains of a grand marketplace dating back to the 4th century BC. Nestled in the heart of the city, this archaeological site lets visitors wander among towering columns, ancient archways, and well-preserved stone structures, offering a glimpse into life in ancient Smyrna.

Australia

Visiting Western Australia's Nambung National Park and the Pinnacles Desert is a must.

Located at the southern gateway to Australia's Coral Coast, along the Indian Ocean Drive, the Pinnacles Desert of Nambung National Park is one of the major natural attractions in the region and are Western Australia's most visited attractions.

The park is located roughly 200km, or 2 hours' drive north of Perth, and covers an area of 17,487 hectares providing natural habitat for an extensive array of native animals and bird life.

The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures, formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of sea shells. Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements. The Pinnacles range in height and dimension - some stand as high as 3.5m!

The museum of photographs is fascinating in how it came about – two famous photographers, Patrick Menac’h and Hamid Mergani, brought together their common passion for vintage Moroccan photography, and pooled their photos for the public to admire. Here I realize how black-and-white photos can dramatize the light-and-shadow effects in the medina.

From the terrace, you can have a glass of mint tea, and wonder about the thousands of satellite dishes that dominate the view. 

It’s peaceful here. On a clear day, you can see the snow-clad High Atlas Mountains. But you can’t see the chaos of Djemaa el-Fna, or hear shouts of ‘Balek!’ whenever donkey-carts come through laden with heavy goods. You can’t see the ‘hand of Fatima’ good-luck symbols painted on the carts after they have ambled past you. Or count the number of chickens being transported on the back of a groaning Vespa.

Pausing in the Frenzy

In Marrakech, explore the labyrinth of the medina, lined with market stalls and craftspeople, and full of secret places and contradictions. 

Anonymous, windowless, fortress-like walls enclose luxurious riads built around tiled courtyards, complete with fountains and gardens.

Happily, my wonderful guide Khadija of Morocco Private Experience, encourages my curiosity. She leads the way across the medieval labyrinth of chaotic alleyways - to the souks where centuries-old skills continue to flourish. 

I am intrigued about how all the craftspeople are clustered together by trade. We watch a metal craftsman shape a pair of gnawa cymbals. A leatherworker allows me inside his workshop for a better view. There is an entire street of ornate lantern sellers - the bronze-latticed lanterns competing with the palm-leafed roofs of the souks in throwing light-and-shadow patterns all around.

Heart and Souk

Initially conceptualized as a residential estate for wealthy families, this space has evolved into one of the city's most iconic public parks, with its unique blend of natural and architectural elements.
