This experience is a private tour of Galería Artkinson, one of Valparaíso's most intriguing independent galleries focused on urban art and contemporary expression. Named for its proximity to the beloved Paseo Artkinson walkway, the gallery is co-managed by a quintet of local artists each with their own specialty across painting, engraving, sculpture, and jewelry craft. Each artist has a different style which makes for one of the most eclectic experiences in Chile's Capital of Culture.

This private viewing experience is hosted by one of the five artists. It consists of an in-depth description of the original works showcased in the gallery and the studio, where you'll learn about the different materials, symbols, and ideas behind each piece. You will also learn how the work of the Galería Artkinson collective fits in with the wider identity of Valparaíso's urban art landscape. This private viewing of Galeria Artkinson is hosted by one of the five resident artists who collaborate in the studio. Moro "Newenki" Pichilaf specializes in wood engraving, stencil art, and painting alongside mural art with fellow graffiti artists Don Peluca and Cuellimangui. Fernanda González works with plasticine installations whereas Klaus Tordo is a master at metal engraving and the botanical practice of Kokedama.

The host of the experience depends on the date booked. In most cases, you will meet at least one further resident artist during the visit besides the host artist.

Diego Baloian is an architect holding a degree from the Universidad Finis Terrae and a Master's in Cultural Heritage from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). As the founding partner at DBG Architecture and Massantiago, his work focuses on architectural design, the restoration of heritage buildings, and urban planning. He has led and participated in projects and seminars in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, and Hungary. 

Diego has also organized conferences and exhibitions on Latin American architecture in collaboration with Guiding Architects Network, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH). France

Built to trace Bordeaux’s role in the Atlantic slave trade, this historic walk begins in Place de la Bourse, continues to the Grand Théâtre, along Cours de Verdun and into Place des Quinconces, then reaches the quays.

While crossing the city center, the narrative spans the late seventeenth to the nineteenth century, when the city armed 508 expeditions linked to about 150,000 Africans deported to the Americas. Facades, street names and public art expose merchants, shipowners, and fortunes amassed through the exploitation of enslaved people.

At each stop Hubert unpacks how a voyage was outfitted, who financed it, where profits went and what awaited the enslaved across the ocean, then turns to Girondin deputies and abolition. A brief coffee stop softens the pace. On the riverfront, the focus shifts to memory today, from plaques to the statue of Modeste Testas, and to how the city confronts this painful past.

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

The Caves in Negril offers a unique and exhilarating experience for those seeking adventure in a breathtakingly beautiful setting. Perched atop honeycomb cliffs formed by volcanic activity, The Caves is a gateway to thrilling cliff diving and cave swimming experiences.

The natural structure of the cliffs at The Caves makes them an ideal location for cliff diving. The walls of the resort are a veritable museum of ancient fossilized marine life and provide a variety of diving spots. 

As guests at The Caves, we were encouraged to take early morning dives from the cliffs, with jumps ranging from 8 ft to 30 ft, and there's even a jump inside a cave for the more daring. 

Despite the excitement of cliff diving, it's important to approach this activity with caution. The heights can be intimidating, and the water can appear menacing, especially when the weather is not ideal. So be careful and always go with a companion.

Cliff Diving at the Caves

Devrent Valley, often called Imagination Valley, invites visitors to unleash their creativity as they explore its whimsical rock formations, which resemble animals and other shapes.
1. Rock Formations: Marvel at natural sculptures shaped like camels, dolphins, and even castles—an incredible showcase of Cappadocia’s geological artistry.

Imagination Valley

Antalya, Turkey, is home to the Antalya Museum, one of the country’s most important archaeological museums, showcasing thousands of years of history from ancient civilizations that once thrived in the region. Covering spanning prehistoric, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman eras, the museum is a treasure trove of artifacts, statues, and mosaics, many of which were discovered in nearby sites like Perge, Aspendos, and Termessos. With its well-curated exhibits and stunning sculptures, the Antalya Museum is a must-visit for history lovers.


1. The Hall of Gods displays an incredible collection of Roman statues of deities such as Zeus, Hermes, and Aphrodite, many unearthed from the ancient city of Perge.

2. The Sarcophagi Hall features intricately carved Roman sarcophagi, including the famous Sarcophagus of Hercules, depicting the hero’s legendary labors.

3. A vast collection of mosaics, coins, and ceramics offers insight into the daily life and artistry of civilizations that once ruled the Mediterranean.

Antalya Museum

My sister and I flew into Las Vegas to then see the Grand Canyon. We woke early to get picked up at our hotel and the tour took us to the Hoover Dam, a stop on Route 66 (where the Cars movie took place), and finally the Grand Canyon. We did an easy hike but it took about 4 hours. We stopped multiple times for pictures. It was amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice. 

My sister and I wish we had spent more time there and maybe hiking a different trail.

Grand Canyon Excursion

The Triana neighborhood in Seville is a vibrant and culturally rich district that feels like a city within a city. Located across the Guadalquivir River, just a short walk from the historic center, Triana has long been known for its strong ties to Seville’s ceramic artistry and flamenco culture. Explore Triana Neighborhood

Guatemala

The spectacular Mayan ruins of Tikal overrun by miles of  unspoiled jungle are extraordinarily rich in wildlife incl. the elusive jaguar. 🐆 

It’s one of the few UNESCO World Heritage sites that combines both cultural and natural richness and the 500+ sq km contains numerous remains of the Mayan civilization scattered across wetlands, savannah and tropical jungles teaming with birds and monkeys.

It was a thrilling experience to wander in a place that was one of the great cities of the world around 700 AD and wonder how people lived at that time. 

We went late afternoon to take advantage of the magical light falling on the structures and our guide, Daveed, was very helpful in highlighting the important sites and the life at that time. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the top of Temple IV. A perfect filming location for Yavin 4 in Star Wars.

After the sunset, we walked in the fading light to the spectacular Grand Plaza, relieved in Daveed’s assurance that the 🐆 is shy of humans.

Pyramids of Tikal

Balos Lagoon is a breathtakingly beautiful beach on the northwestern coast of Crete, known for its turquoise waters, pink-tinged sands, and striking natural scenery. Surrounded by rugged hills, this idyllic spot is accessible by a scenic hike or a boat ride, making it a perfect destination for those seeking an escape into nature’s finest.
1. The lagoon’s shallow turquoise waters are perfect for swimming and ideal for families with children.
2. Its unique pink sand, created by crushed shells, adds a surreal touch to the beach.
3. The area offers a stunning contrast between the vivid water, white sand, and dramatic rocky terrain.
4. Visitors can hike down to the beach, enjoying panoramic views along the way.
5. For a more leisurely approach, ferries from Kissamos provide easy access to this natural paradise.

Balos Lagoona

Casa Pilatos is one of our favorite places in Seville. Nestled in the historic Santa Cruz district, it’s a paragon of Andalusian architecture, blending Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance styles into a stunning palatial residence. It’s a 16th-century edifice that serves as a living museum, showcasing the grandeur of Sevillian nobility. Today, it remains a semi-private residence, partly inhabited by the 18th Duchess of Medinaceli and her family. Here are the Top things to check out:
1. Enter through a Renaissance-style marble gate to discover a courtyard adorned with a collection of busts from Roman emperors to Spanish kings, set against the backdrop of exquisite azulejo tiles. The palace's architectural fusion is evident in every corner, from its ornate Gothic Mudejar style to Italian Renaissance innovations​​.
2. The Praetor’s Room stands as the palace's heart, echoing Pilate's Palace in Jerusalem with its detailed coffered ceiling and intricate stucco carved arches, enveloping visitors in a tapestry of historical and aesthetic grandeur​​.
3. Gardens of Serenity: Casa Pilatos is also celebrated for its lush, Italian-style gardens, comprising a large main garden and a smaller, intimate space. The Staircase to the Heavens: Known as "Seville's first and most magnificent staircase," this architectural gem features azulejo tiling, a Mudéjar honeycomb ceiling, and leads to the more private quarters of the palace. Although the upper floors are typically closed to visitors, the staircase itself is a marvel worth admiring​​​​.

Philippines

This was my first time visiting Gigantes Islands, and I was struck by the raw beauty of its cliffs and crystal-clear waters that surround its secluded beaches. There are several islands that you can hop in to and my favorite one is what the locals call the “mini boracay” because the sand sure feels like that in Boracay. Other islands are as equally awesome like the Bantigue sandbar, and Cabugay. We also explored the local neighborhood and sure has its own interesting stories. For one, I discovered that due to the abundance of scallops in the island, there’s a neighborhood that stands on a land area that’s made up of scallop shells that is meters thick! Just imagine how much scallops shells that would’ve taken. There’s a lot to explore but if you just want something that’s relaxed, you can just have a good beer by the beach from sunset til night.
