You’ll see the journey of creating a selection of tapas from market to the table. Our plan: To walk through the magnificent Quiraing and climb to the base of the Needle, a 120 ft jagged pinnacle, for views of the Outer Hebrides.  

Weather forecast? Fair, says Harry, the winds will blow away the clouds and midges.

Highlights from the photo-hike: ☀️Awe-inspiring view of Loch Cleat (above). 💦 Scrambling over the steep cliffs on springy heather. 🐾 Checking out the structures that have been named — The Needle, The Prison, The Table — and naming those that haven’t. ⚡️Noting the exact moment when the weather turns on us. ❄️ Getting shrouded in mist and fog, and unwittingly playing hide-and-seek at the top of the ridge (this is, after all, where locals hid their sheep from raiding Vikings). 💨 Howling winds over 50 mph trying to gust us off the slopes. 💧Rain coming down in full force. ☁️ Feeling my spine tingle as clouds swirl around me in this unreal landscape.

If you want to explore Spain on foot, you should definitely set out on one of the pilgrimage routes through the country. All routes lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, which is located in the northwest. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Camino de Santiago has been named a central point of cultural exchange – and a historical highlight that shows what medieval Spain looked like. We chose to follow the famous Camino Frances. The original 800km route takes 5 weeks, but we decided to get in a little later, we only had 11 days, and opted for the route starting in the Galician town of Sarria. Along the way, you'll meet many other tourist pilgrims, but you'll also be able to immerse yourself in the local culture and taste Spain's best delicacies (tapas, seafood, and Spanish Serrano ham). Be prepared for a lot of walking – and take the best walking boots you have. We’ve enjoyed every minute, but some people we met had the wrong equipment, complaining about blisters.

The Caves in Negril offers a unique and exhilarating experience for those seeking adventure in a breathtakingly beautiful setting. Perched atop honeycomb cliffs formed by volcanic activity, The Caves is a gateway to thrilling cliff diving and cave swimming experiences.

The natural structure of the cliffs at The Caves makes them an ideal location for cliff diving. The walls of the resort are a veritable museum of ancient fossilized marine life and provide a variety of diving spots. 

As guests at The Caves, we were encouraged to take early morning dives from the cliffs, with jumps ranging from 8 ft to 30 ft, and there's even a jump inside a cave for the more daring. 

Despite the excitement of cliff diving, it's important to approach this activity with caution. The heights can be intimidating, and the water can appear menacing, especially when the weather is not ideal. So be careful and always go with a companion.

Cliff Diving at the Caves

Benagil Cave, located near the small fishing village of Benagil on the southern coast of Portugal, is one of the Algarve's most breathtaking natural attractions. This spectacular sea cave, renowned for its unique formation and stunning natural light, is accessible only by water, making it a thrilling destination for visitors. Here are the top highlights:

1. The cave is renowned for its impressive dome-like structure, carved by the sea into the limestone cliffs. The natural skylight at the top of the cave allows sunlight to pour in, creating a magical atmosphere inside.

2. Inside Benagil Cave lies a small, secluded beach, accessible only by boat or kayak. This hidden beach offers a unique experience of tranquility and awe, surrounded by the natural beauty of the cave’s walls.

3. The cave can be reached by boat, kayak, or paddleboard, adding an element of adventure to the experience. Guided tours are available, offering not only safe passage but also insights into the cave's formation and the surrounding area's history.

4. The waters around the cave are teeming with marine life, making the journey to the cave a chance to spot various sea creatures, including fish, seabirds, and occasionally dolphins.

5. The area around Benagil Cave is known for its beautiful beaches and picturesque coastal trails. Visitors can combine their cave visit with a hike or a relaxing day at one of the nearby beaches.

For a truly unforgettable experience, visit the cave during sunrise or sunset. The changing colors of the sky and the reflections on the water create a surreal and romantic ambiance.
Visiting Benagil Cave is a must-do for anyone traveling to the Algarve region. The best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn when the weather is pleasant, and the tourist crowds are smaller.

2. The Sacristy, often considered one of the most beautiful in Spain, showcases marble inlays, swirling stucco patterns, and elaborate ceiling paintings, creating a mesmerizing visual experience.

The last nomadic, herding tribe in southern Africa, they still maintain their dress and traditions. Red ochre paste for sun protection. Smoke from herbs for cleansing and perfume. Intricate hairstyles. Lots of leather jewelry. A beauty routine that takes three hours every single day to complete.
