A short overview of natural dyes used in their process will also be included, with a special focus on cochineal—once among the most valuable trade commodities for the Spanish, next only to silver and gold. Afterward, you'll visit the town church to see the ceremonial candles in situ, followed by a traditional lunch in another town that is famous for their giant tree, which is said to be the widest in the world. 

Maestra Viviana Alávez has been producing handmade candles for over 70 years. You’ll meet this inspiring woman, descended from a long line of artisans who have been creating custom works for more than three centuries.
